I bought a 194t for limbs and I think it works good stock for limbs. I use my big saw with 3/8 pitch chisel chain for trunks.

Best mod to give that 250 is some full chisel chain. That green label safety chain is no good.

I'm new to trying to mod a saw. I want to open the exhaust on a stihl ms 250. How do adjust the carb for a more open exhaust,?

How new is the saw? I'm just curious. My elevation is 4,500 ft, i did this to a new ms250. Surprisingly, it didn't need any adjustment to the carburetor. But that doesn't mean yours won't. There's lots of videos on how to adjust your carburetor. It's a balancing act between your hi jet / low jet and idle screw.

A little bit of cheating there.... Your first two slabs were about an inch thick. The last two were, probably not even half-of-an-inch thick. That would make a difference on the pulling and tearing of the wood fibers on the outside of the cut.

Are you having a stroke?
@rogerlevy57
@rogerlevy57 2 месяца назад
Yes thanks for this. I am did a mod on my muffler too. To open it, I ground a small amount off of one corner only, right on the outside edge, then I used an old chisel to pry the top lamination up of the three there. I pried up the foldover, then cut it in the middle with side cutters, then hold the muffler in a vice so I could heat it up with propane till nearly cherry red and used a small flat screw driver to bend up a section of the foldover at a time, moving down each side. I did 3 sides and was then able to slide/lift that top off the muffler, and reveal the inner baffle. In my case I drill a lot of large holes in it. Reassembly was easy, just slide the top back in, fold back the foldover to secure it. Yes I enjoy having more power, and I know it will take the heat away from the exhaust side cylinder much better, decreasing the chance of seizing. It uses more fuel too of course, as it runs faster and a larger amount of the induction gases (fuel air) bypass straight out the exhaust ( which means it is better at having cleaner combustion gases, and a bigger intake of air each stroke. Its not a tuned exhaust, just free flowing.

Horrible comparison! Idt ive personally seen a 200 or 201 cuts so poorly in my entire life! Its spitting out powder! 194 is spitting chips! I expected it to be close. But definitely not beating it by that much! I hate how people who dont know what they are doing. Try comparing something and put out horrible videos like this. Get whatever makes you happy bud! If you aren't climbing trees regularly or at all. Weights no big deal, even if u do climb. 201 is still a great saw. I stand behind them all day! I was a Line Clearance Arborist for 10yrs. We used echoes before in I didn't care for them. Stihl is extremely reliable and stands up to abuse much better then echo or Husqvarna. If you do want a Lil bit lighter and one with great power maybe the same as or more than the 201 for less money. Get the Husqvarna 540 xp mark III! I don't have a lot of experience with it as a daily. But I do with stihl and echo. And I can say for the money echo is good. But as far as a saw that'll hold up to the test of time. STIHL all day. Also this was a horrible comparison video seems how he "dulled I mean sharpened" the chain on the 201. It's throwing powder instead of chips! I could tell by the speed difference as well. That was a huge difference. Something that wouldn't happen from the lil mods he made. I'd expect it to be close to the same since the 201 is stock. But to have 4 second difference? No way! Horrible comparison imo.

If you increased the saws power to the blade from 75% to 90% how is it possible an increase of 15% allowed you to cut almost rwice as fast? Im with the guy whos calling you out on sharpening the chain between tests. Chips are definitely bigger in the last test. Just busting your balls good modification. Make sure if you do this to readjust your carburetor.
@arboristlife3494
@arboristlife3494 7 месяцев назад
Another guy asked me something similar. If you increase power, but the RPM of the chain stays the same. How does it cut in a faster? The answer is that you can push harder. Putter More pressure on the saw/wood, making it eat more without bugging down. Also, before doing the test, I sharpened the chain, I like to take the rakers down a little bit overstock. Which is going to make it bite more wood. A lot of people think that I might have sharpened it in between runs. The truth is, absolutely not! Obviously that would completely Ruin, the entire test. I know you don't know me, but I am an honorable man. And I swear on the lives of my children. I did not sharpen the chain between comparisons. Also I did have to adjust the cooperator I forgot to mention that in the video. Thank you for your comment. I really appreciate the feedback.

I'm interested in the mods and how you did them. Did the carb require modification to fit? Wouldn't a carb from a bigger saw dump more fuel, and the 150 carb dump less, or be more lean? (My bad, did you say ms150 or ms250?) One comment though, why bother spending the time on making sure the wood is consistent for your cuts, but didn't take the time to swap bars and chains and drum/whatever to make sure your saws are also consistent with one another. Without using same bar and chain on both saws, your saws vary by way more than just the engine.
@arboristlife3494
@arboristlife3494 Год назад
Jacob, thank you for your comment. I just uploaded a video showing how to do the Muffler mod. And a few other things. Dude, you're so right! @jakedomoto6802
@jakedomoto6802 Год назад
@@arboristlife3494 I also just wanted to point out that using a board does not create consistency. A board is simply a log with the edges plained off. It still has different growth patterns and knots. Grab yourself some plywood, OSB, particle board, anything that is man made of equal consistency throughout. Then you can screw/nail them together and cut through those. Also using the same bar and chain with a fresh sharpen each time. For the absolute best results while eliminating as much variance as possible, this would be ideal. Also amazon has RPM meters for 20$ or less. Some wrap around the spark plug, some go off of sound, and then there are laser ones that you can point at the clutch drum etc.. The laser ones are the most accurate. However the sound ones are nice because you can not only check RPM when not under load but also while under load (cutting). Even if the RPM gauge is slightly off it's okay because you are measuring the difference between two items NOT what their exact RPM values are.
