any tips on bending structural metal such as a boom arm on a skid steer… Should I preheat at a certain temperature before trying to bend it and post heat at a certain temperature after bending?
Hope you are doing well... I get concerned with gaps between your posts. An never worry about the same works as each time, if you pay attention, you will learn something... The folks with many years of experience are growing fewer and fewer... So much knowledge gets lost... Appreciate the time and effort it takes to make a video... Best! Marshall
hello sir, could you please advise me, I am going to be welding on 4130 chromoly tube that is .250 wall, the part has already been heat treated, I am adding a bung to it that a bolt goes thru, the bung I made is DOM tube that is also .250 wall... the manufacturer of the part says I will ruin any strength that they put in the part when they heat treated the part by welding on it, can you recommend a preheat, and post heat temp, and a type of rod, thank you so much for your expertise any other info would be appreciated too
Preheat 350-400 weld don't let your interpass temp go over 600 them post weld heat to 800. Use 80S-D2 filler. Drilling a hole for the bung will weekend it more than the weld process.
The bung will actually be laying tube side to tube side... Or wall to wall. So no hole will be drilled in parrent material or to the added part... Just a bit of info.. is E720s not acceptable rod? Just asking cuz I already have it. I will post a video of my project this weekend.
took me forever to find this video again, but im now subscribed to you,, thank you for your advice, I have welding crayons, now and I'm going to set my job up and make a video, but before i weld i would love any more advice before i roast the parts, I also have another question, I will also be welding some .120 wall 1/2 4130 tube to some existing DOM tube, I was reading somewhere that you should use ER70S-2 wire feed wire when welding chromoly tube, this is a full tube chassis for a race car, it will be chromo to DOM, do you recommend ER70S-6 or theER70S-2, also I have read that with tubing pre heat and post heat aren't necessary , thank you again, I find your video motivational to take on projects I may normally farm out, Adam
Nice videos. I have a question. Can you do small non structural welds (just bigger than a tack weld) on heat treated 4140 without pre and post heat treatment?
Samsucks!!! So frustrating!! This is the second time within a year that I’ve had to deal with this issue! Why can’t we hold these companies responsible?!! Is there a class action lawsuit I can get in on? This is just a rip off. You can see where they used the wrong kind of insulation to begin with! All that black melted crap all over the back and on the freezer part. Why do we have to pay for their crappy manufacturing mistakes? I am never buying another Samsung product! Samsucks!!!
Hi Texas Viking! I sent you an email but it may have not gone through. I wanted to ask you for some advice on some SS brazing project im working on. Let me know if the spam blocker let my request go through.
Hi Terry, great video as usual, Perhaps you’ve covered this already but how do you prep this parts for welding? Do they arrive more or less clean or do you have to clean and prep them?
Good to see you again Terry. I never have Tig welded anything I have a Mig welder and an 2 different arc welders. Looks to me like you can get more precise welds using the TIG welder or is that the operator?
Good to see your videos again. Why did they demonize your videos just curious new to making RU-vid videos good to know what to look out for. Awesome work as always 👍👍👍
When you hadn't posted anything for a while, I assumed you decided to give it away ?? A couple years back I was getting a fair few Titanium parts to weld through a subcontractor. I was glad when they eventually stopped coming. All welded inside a chamber. Not exactly fun welding inside basically a bead blast cabinet for most of the day 😒
Good to see a video from you again! I was thinking about you when we saw the stories of the flooding in Houston and hoped it hadn't affected you, especially after all you went through a few years ago!
Yes You tube is bad about de-monitizing videos. And why would you want to bother wasting your time doing videos. I don't have enough subs to me monitized but I am getting to the point of saying I have projects that have to get done why should I stop and break into the middle of something I need to work on to make a video. Wow I have never welded on titanium before and you make it look easy. Thanks for the video..
I recently demonetized my channel so I could delete older videos and just not worry about the $89 dollars a made a month. Welcome back by the way. The results of your welds are always remarkable.
