@@Fximpactm3Fximpactm3 front opened right up, rear reg at 160bar, valve at 14mm off the block, power wheel on 16, micro on 4.75.you may need to fine tune your gun to get best accuracy etc.
Just found your vid as I’m considering buying one of these kits. I was, additionally, going to include the carbon fibre stiffener that fits directly around the liner - did you consider one of these or is it unnecessary? You do answer one concern I had - namely the likelihood of additional noise. Did you ever find a shroud to fit or, did you go down the larger mod route? Would appreciate an update on how you’ve got on with the rifle subsequently. Thanks for posting, very informative 👍
@@mikeyb9819 since i done this video i have removed the barrel tensioner and just use the standard barrel with the carbon fiber sleeve, i found that long term the kit didnt really help with any point of impact shift, i did keep the rear barrel holder block fitted though and as of now ( three years) its all been ok, sometimes i get a point of impact shift, sometimes not, i dont really understand it.
I’m about to enter the FAC air rifle boys club after a 3 and a half year wait for my grant! (Good old D&C constabulary!) I’m looking at the FX King Paul in .22 Any recommendations on mod? Just found you and have subscribed Gren… Lanson born and bred! 😄
@@grenvillemoore2346 oh your quite local to me then! So with FAC Air i would say go for .25 but if you already have a .22 slot on your firearms certificate then no worries, i have no experience with the FX King but im guessing it is quite a long rifle so i would get anything short and stubby, maybe a ODB or a Donny Fl Tanto, saying that the Fatboy on its own is only 4 inches long or so that may well be a good place to start looking, also go into the Gunshop and ask to see what Mods they have so you can clap your eyes on it properly.
@@PaulHamM3 Yes mate, just down the road! I’ve got both .22 AND .25 as I applied for both, thinking that I’d get an M3 and barrel kit for the other calibre. But the King is just out of this world. I popped up to SGC yesterday and held a sub12 left hand version (yes I’m a lefty! 😄) The balance and how it shoulders is sublime. Anyway, I digress….. They do both a 500mm and 600mm version and I’m leaning towards the 500. 600 plus mod is too long for my taste and the 500 will still give you 70ft/lb max in .22! That’s plenty for me! So yes, perhaps I should try a few on the gun when I get it to see what I like. Was thinking Sumo or Ronin from the Donny range……
@@grenvillemoore2346 so from what i have experienced with shorter barrels is they dont shoot slugs as well hence why i have the 700mm barrel on my impact M3.
@@PaulHamM3 That’s a fair point Paul. 600 would be halfway house I guess… but the marketing blurb from FX states that the King has been designed to shoot slugs. The 600 DOES have the heavy superior liner though as opposed to the std STX in the 500. Anyway, thanks for your time and input.
@@grenvillemoore2346 i am pretty sure plenty of other shooters and youtubers have managed to shoot slugs out of there .22 kings, let me know how you get on mate.
Just ordered a Tuxing 700cc bottle on Amazon for 159.00 and a 300 bar Airmarksman bottle valve for 79.00 from Utah Airguns for a total of 240.00, if you buy a 700cc bottle with a valve on any Airgun site they’re 370.00, can’t understand why they charge so much for a bottle but there’s ways around it buying separately
I don’t understand why you take the trigger and hammer out. There was no need for this. Stil informative as to how to install but why would a gun that operates with no hammer weight whatsoever benefit from a 26.5 gram hammer weight. Could you share any of your experience with lower, more realistic hammer weights
I installed the hammer weight because that was what FX sold, clearly they havent done there homework as the hammer weight that came with there own FX crown slug power kit was way to heavy and just over powered the gun and made it very erratic. If I remember correctly I decided just to use a hammer ( no hammer weight) that bagnall and kirkwood supplied me which was slightly heavier than the FX factory hammer and also harder as winding up the hammer spring tension caused damage to it.
My valve is out 14mm off the block and has absolutly nothing to do with the increased noise, this is caused by the removal of the barrel shroud.in the years since i uploaded this video i have sinced decided to not use the barrel tension kit as it didn't really make a difference to POI shift in the long run.
Just stumbled across your vid 3 yrs later. I currently shoot .243 but goung over to 6.5 creed (the balistic difference between the two rounds is huge). That long bullet with the fast twist is what's maintaining such an inpressive level of repeatable grouping. You obviously have a decent level of trigger ability too. I have had 3 1/2 inch at 500 meters with my .243 (using 70 grain Nosler and 70 grain Blitzking bullets) but this was in perfect conditions on flat sheltered ground with no wind. The 6.5 retains far more ft/lb down range and bucks the wind far better than the .243 an all round superior round balistically. If you're just taking the odd deer at 150 meters then .243 is all you need... but if you're foxing out to 400 plus meters on the moors, then the creedmoor is the clear winner. At the moment I'm leaning towards the S20 Precision. Lol... I'll be starting from scratch with load development and will need to buy new bullets, dies and start saving brass again 😂
Thanks for your comment and taking the time to watch my video, it seems an absolute age ago that i did this! Everything you say about the 6.5 creedmoor is correct, ballistically it is definaitly superior to the .243 but like you say, if your only shooting out to 150 yards the you dont need anything else. When it comes to reloading ,myself and a friend are having to try different primers as the CCI 400 small rifle primers are rare as rocking horse sh1t!
It wouldnt be fair to compare the SQ50 2.0 and that specific model from Thermtec as they are in two different classes and specs, if i had a Thermtec 660 then maybe i could.
@@PaulHamM3 shooting i think 50 yards up tho 75a80 yard but i like the higher calibers for destroying beercans and apples or so i whas also thinking about the King but i dont like tho spend that mutch on a gun
Well for back yard plinking beer cans and apples, a .22cal or a .25 set on low power would be adequate for your needs, you will use less air than say a 30cal plus ammo is cheaper but saying that, if you have a adequate backstop then any caliber and any power would be fine!
Nice one Paul good job on the foxes and we all miss mate as you will see on my next vid. Love the image quality of the new sq50 hopefully I will get to try one soon. Keep up the good work 👍
Cheers Jim, the SQ50 2.0 is a pleasure to use, i have a Thermtec Ares 635 on test at the moment so there should be a review out soon on that, its a great scope.
@@bob100079 i havent got a 660 to compare to yet but theres a chance i might, as far as im concerned with the Hikmicro SQ50 2.0 is a bloody awesome bit of gear.

Paul - trying to choose between this Stellar SQ50 2.0 and the Pulsar Thermion 2 XP50 Pro. What is your recommendation between the two? Will mostly hunt wild boar on the fields
Hi, if you check out the specs on the HIK has a higher spec than the current XP50 with a sensor resolution of 680x512 and a sub 20 mk NETD thermal sensitivity, this means it will be better than the XP50 in poorer weather conditions and at £3000 compared to the pulsars £4300 price tag,the Hiks the winner in my book. Only thing i will say is the XP50 base magnification of 2x will provide you with a bigger field of view for your boar hunting.
@@PaulHamM3ohh, and have you tuned te impact? If so, how do the impact hold the tune? Do it still shoot the same after you haven’t used it for a while?
@@BT-st4ho its been really good and kept its tune, the only time i have had issues was when a oring on the valve stem needed replacing as the consistancy had dropped, but otherwise it has been very good.
@@PaulHamM3oke good to hear. I was about to pull the trigger on the impact m3. But I’ll probably go for the redwolf with there new slug barrel (they will come out in a few months). Thanks for the reactions.
I have the same gun that has max bar 250 .. but I got the 700cc bottle as well and it can take the 300 bar can I fill it to the 300 or is the gun not able for that pressure.. said I'd ask before I'd do it thansk
FX say the M3 is a 300 bar gun, you will need to get a 300bar fill gauge though, but i think its best that you check with FX, i had no issues but better to be safe than sorry.
@@PaulHamM3 now my gun is a mk2 dose that matter .. kinda waste of time having a 300 bar bottle and can't fill it to that not really a 700cc bottle then
Was kinda waste of money so I didn't realise it had 300 bar fill on it when I look at it it said 250 . I had a 480 cc on it was getting ino mag for a fill with the 700 I'm getting 2 but as my gun is at 80 foot pounds doing 998fps
25.39g jsb kings worked the best in my Redwolf, always better than the 33.95g jsb king heavy mk2s, also try the jsb knockouts mk2 slugs, my Redwolf loved them..oh and try jsb Hades.
Nice video Paul I'm sure this product will appeal to alot of people who are on a budget mate. So folk don't worry about recording capabilities the just want to point and shoot so this would be perfect I imagine. 👌
On my fx crown it really is how you said "point and shoot" i went out a while ago and got my holdover points sorted and now i dont need to worry about a thing ( provided i do my part) the Mars really is a true budget thermal.
@PaulHamM3 I like the ATN range especially the 4k pro. I've yet to try the thermal scope but hopefully I will one day. Would be good to try one from both ends of the scale. Seems like your pleased with rhis one though mate. 👍
