Nice and clean looking VL, your wife should be very happy driving it around. That looks like wynnum creek , Sad the old Fisher's hotel is gone. The place brings back memories of driving my old HQ Monaro around .
How good would that be with a 355 stroker, they are a very cool car and will slowly build it to be a nice cruiser. Once I fix the door locks of course.
@gregh6794 best we don't talk about the HT. 😀. I did drive it Saturday, brakes are bedding in and transmission changing fairly well. Smoke is reduced in general but there is likely a problem with head gasket, valves, manifold not sealed properly or just worn rings? Or all the above. Lol
Great build champ. Did you run in the motor and break in the cam ? First startup is crucial to get it up reving to 2000 rpm for 20 minutes to run the cam in. Hopefully your Smokey motor is not a wiped out cam and lifters. All the best and happy driving champ.
Smoking on a new engine could be caused by a few issues Intake manifold not sealing would be a good place to look Also if it's a flat tappet cam 1500 to 2000 rpm required on initial start up

It was a mate of mine that was going to the NSW All Holden Day so had him run the camera around. It's a All Holden Day so always keen to get that on video. It's a little clunky but shows off the day ok I think.

Sexy but slow and smoky. Sounds like a 253 HT to me. We will get there, just need to take a small break. As you are aware, this is far beyond my skill set and the challenge is just part of the journey. PS your a legend!
@DADZGARAGE Red coolant, in an all cast iron engine, are you sure that is the correct 1. Should still be green as far as I'm aware. I'd possibly be looking at the distributor aswell, by the sounds.
I have parked her for 2 weeks and will get back into it next week as I really want her on the road soon.. I have a new project I am keen to take from a perfectly good driving car and make it worse to drive (but faster) stutututu
