HT Holden V8 Swap, Disk Brake Conversion and Rust Repairs

The V8 Swap on our HT Holden (DADZ70) is going well. In this video we do install the diff, rear suspension, fix up the rust in the K frame and then do a full disk brake conversion including adding a booster.
You will see a sneak peak of the next video towards the end of this one, that video is actually putting the V8 in the car.

Good update. I liked how you worked out the bleeder situation, yes the nipple goes to the top (highest point) as the fluid flows into the caliper and fills it, most of the air will be forced out and then a quick bleed to finish.

Use rubber grease or even selected food grade grease [come with PTFE and are very long term greases ]. All urethane bushings hate oil based lube .The ingredients in some bushings actually cause them to crumble . I have had outstanding success with Super Pro Blue .[35 years exp] Very hard urethane actually wears steel .

You do the Job Right, because you do the Job Twice😂😂 Also, just double check your speedo cable routing. It looks like it's rubbing against the Clutch cable.

I have just a LED fluro from Bunnings or an electrical store, cheap and works well.. plus a small studio style light on a stand, just off ebay.

disc brakes Australia DBA002 12.7mm thick or DBA003 15.9mm HZ WB rear disc is 15.9mm

Were there different brake setups for 6cyl vs v8 or were the GTS chev the different setups ?? Did u consider Hoppers stoppers disc kit ??? Versions of upgrade HQ style 14 inch wheel or a falcon disc 15 inch wheel .

I believe same brakes for 6 and 8cyl, just different drum set up in rear to match disk front. I wanted to try and stay all original brakes though HQ is the easiest and best upgrade i believe for sure.

those disc hubs seemed to have the bearing over tight they should be firm but not tight to spin i usually nip them up till the nuts firm them back it off so the nuts just got tension on it why is there a flat piece of steel welded to the front end cross member never seen that done before ??

Yep made a few mistakes. Wrong rear seal, stub had some pitting from sitting for years, over tight. 98% sorted now and great learning experience for me for sure.

Hey Geeen, The welded flat pieces of steel are welded in to reinforce the front ends which tend to sag a bit over time, especially the V8 cars.
