I believe they did their honest best here. They sent out a casting call for American actors, but unfortunately there are very few. Twelve in New York, fifteen in Los Angeles, and barely seven in the rest of the country. And goodness knows there are no British actors capable of doing a Massachusetts accent. Their choices were quite constrained.

The fact that the British Empire collapsed after WW2 and the Kennedy's were elected by the people whom liberated Europe...Elizabeth should have been bowing to them.

They’re acting as if a brown American from with no talent or real background what so ever was being added to the family and given a title that wasn’t partly theirs even by marriage and worse could have been called queen just because they’re a slut and trashy.

I always felt a little sorry for Prince Philip. After all, Victoria’s husband, Albert, was intended from birth to be her consort, was educated accordingly, and his expectations pruned to meet her needs. I don’t know what Philip expected, and of course, it all would have been very different if George VI hadn’t died so young.

We don’t care. Remember, we fought a war to separate ourselves from them. Commonwealths can do as they please. We’re 100% independent. There was still respect and courtesy. Would you expect the Soviets to kneel, never.

This scene was pribably made up for the program. Elizabeth could gave done the whole thing via a letters patent.

I wished Prince Philip got his old titles reinstated as an honorary title cz of his heritage & history, aka Prince of Greece & Denmark (if they let him have it) It wouldn't hold any value, just in the name.

John F. Kennedy,s, father joesph Kennedy was the US ambassador of Great Britain. many people think that JFK actually met Queen Elizabeth when he became president that’s actually not the truth at all when President Kennedy, and first lady jackie went to Buckingham Palace JFK had known the queen for over 20 years. They had met in 1939 then she was the princess and JFK was on his seventh month tour of Europe and had stopped in England to have tea with the princess all the while World War II was brewing.

In real-life this scene never happened. But it made for better TV than just the proclamation of the style of HRH as well as the title and attributes: "The Prince (Philip) of UK. The definitive article *"The* " bestowing upon Philip precedence over all other princes and princesses of the realm. *IN BOTH: 1947 and 1957 ... Prince Philip deserved the UK style, title and attributes of H.R.H.* Philip gave up his titles, his church and his dual Greek/Danish citizenship as well as his family surname (i.e. House of Glücksburg) to become a British citizen (taking on his mother's angelized surname, "Mountbatten") to marry Princess Elizabeth of the UK (later she was Queen Elizabeth II of the UK) *The second HRH given with the title 'The Prince Philip of the UK" (i.e. the top ranking prince), rather than just the style of HRH)* [1] *1957: 22 February - The Queen grants her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, the style AND title of a Prince of the United Kingdom* *1947: HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh 19th of November, 1947* ""The KING has been pleased by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm, bearing date the 19th instant, to declare that Lieutenant Sir Philip Mountbatten, K.G., R.N [Knight of the Garter Royal Navy]., shall be entitled to hold and enjoy the *style, title and attribute of Royal* *Highness* ""[1] (London Gazette, issue 38128, Nov. 21, 1947, p. 1/5495) Issued by Palace of Whitehall, November 20, 1947. *1947: 20 November:* On the morning of Philip and Elizabeth's wedding before the ceremony; Philip was awarded the lifetime titles of "Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merioneth, and Baron Greenwich of Greenwich in the County of London" (i.e. the titles would not be inherited by Philip's offspring and would revert back to the Crown upon his death. ... Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh has the same deal) Philip had also joined the Royal Masonic Lodge of London, sometime before his wedding. However he was never active in the Lodge. Perhaps because he was an (Eastern) Orthodox Christian before he (officially) became an Anglican (i.e. Church of England) to marry Elizabeth[2] (Both the RCC and the EOC frown upon Freemasonry. The RCC used to forbid Catholics from becoming Freemasons). ________________ 1.) SEE: *Royal Highness* ... [scroll down to " *UK* (alphabetically after "African Usage") "] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Highness 2.) "The Archbishop of Canterbury, Geoffrey Fisher, wanted to "regularise" Philip's position by officially receiving him into the Church of England which he did in October 1947" -- Wikipedia Philip had been attending Anglican services since he was in boarding school in Britain and throughout his career in the British Royal Navy.

Remind me, my fellow Brits: "Your royal highness" is for princes and princesses. "Your grace" is for non-royal people / not common people / something in between?
@RaineStudio
@RaineStudio 24 дня назад
Dukes, duchesses, and archbishops who are not members of the royal family. "Grace" was also standard address to the monarch before Henry VIII. At Ren Faire, we always address Liz as "Your Grace" and never "Majesty."
