The Exorcist WAS one of the best horror film of all time BACK in 1973 and in a much different era from today.. So it's obviously filmed at a time when horror films was viewed at a new perspective giving that horror feel but watching it today will not and won't get the same response and feeling back if you was watching it in 1973 as the film is so outdated including the likes of Halloween The shining and the Omen Amityville horror The burning all old films but classed as classic horror films along with so many more i could mention but watch them now is just a bore to watch through. Films like evil dead remake 2013 or the conjuring and the likes of insidious are much better horror film/supernatural to watch and if these came out in 1973 the exorcist wouldn't be anywhere near that classic or scary reputation it ONCE had we have surpassed them with much better films in the horror department due to technology and film making. Even i watched the Exorcist back in the 80's and i was so disappointed with all the hype it was getting that it just didn't lived up to any of it and it's still getting that hype from people like you. We are just not in 1973 anymore the film doesn't live up to the films we have today in that department why i said WAS one of the best films made but not know more it's just a generic film that lost its famous's reputation due to age and will only be classed as classic to people who watched it back in the 70's that holds a special meaning to them like we all do when there something will love for sentimental reasons. Unless your a young kid and your with your friends having a Halloween night party watching some horror film's then yes there going to think it's a scary film but still there's better ones made today to sit and watch through as a kid with friend's on halloween lol.
I am almost 70 years old., And I like to watch a movie or two at night . I cannot believe I watched this movie over ten times. Five in the frist month. It was the best movie I have ever watched. It makes one feel good. Like their is some form of Justice in this world when we are being abused so badly and our Leaders are so corrupted .Our election are all rigged and we have little hope . It really feels liekwe are now a conquered nation being controlled by a demonic word elite . The Fourth Reich . And it seems to be getting much worst. God help us. I wish to God we really did have a Beekeeper group. We need them badly. Jason . This is your greatest move. 'Thank You . This was not a home run. It was a grand slam.
I watched the first Dune at the Imax Waterloo. Don't care what shot on, or how, etc etc. No better screen to watch film like this on PROVDING you get seats middle and towards the back, anywhere near the front? Forget it. Plus the sound is friggin' awesommmmmme. Sure I lost a filling
I've got tickets to Waterloo IMAX for this weekend to see Dune 1, I can't wait!! I actually find centre seats in row E or F are far enough back to not hurt your neck. And that close your whole peripheral vision is filled with action for full immersion. It's my favourite cinema, I saw interstellar there 6 months ago in row E and fell in love with that film all over again.
I went to see it in IMAX last week and it was definitely worth it, even with crappy 3rd row seats. Tickets were only $9, and I came out of it feeling like I'd seen it for the first time.
for me, i think the split of this film first and the second was bad for me, i mean i did not like how the 1st film ended. It would be better if they put them both in one.. so the film finished perfectly. IMHO
Once you've seen Part Two, I highly recommend you not only read the first book but also the second book Dune Messiah, which reportedly has already been greenlit by Warner Bros. to be made into Part Three. It is absolutely not what you would expect and its conclusion is absolutely incredible. It's very evident how it inspired George R.R. Martin when he wrote A Song Of Ice and Fire. Reading them will also make you appreciate just what an incredible job Villeneuve did in adapting an absolute behemoth of a book to the screen.
like you, i wasn't quite the dune junkie i am now first time around so i didn't grasp all of what it was but since have (re)watched it, the lynch version and both sci-fi channel series multiple times. hardcore fan and casual fan alike you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't see it on imax, there is so much more context taken out of frame, can't stress that enough the difference it makes. seeing the entire sandworm ride scene was amazing.
Great review, Cody! Jim and I saw it in Imax when it came out, and we both thought it was worth it. That said, I think a film like this seen from a good seat in any modern theatre with good sound would serve almost (98%? More, maybe?) as well.
I agree it would look great in a modern theater regardless, but the IMAX gives it a greater sense of scope to the whole thing. Either way, we can all enjoy the Sandworm together 🤣
Great video man saw the trailer for this but was never interested in the movie but been seeing some positives about the movie I may check it out but I may wait till streaming since I don’t want to pay for the imax for this movie even though it sounds like a decent watch on imax
I think you should talk a bit more about the sound mix in your videos. IMAX is not only about visuals, also about sound. Other than i love your reviews man, thank you for posting.

I bought this 4K release and I had to return it, it was just unwatchable. The day scenes are way too contrasty, make one want to reach for sunglasses, but then whatever is in a lowlight area, like in the shade, would be even harder to see. That’s when I learned that all 4K releases are not created equal. And that’s why I thank every reviewer who screens all these movies for us!
