I have a similar van and yes a shower but also wind breakers and the black solar shower you hang in the sun and when needed wind breakers or what ever you have but good for washing up or showers simple hot water ,.
Very interesting tour. I’d be interested to know where your foam infill goes. I have a 22 yo auto-trail that seems to be missing a bit of the big bed layout.
Thanks for your comment! The foam infill we think is for the single beds set up. In that scenario it goes between the long bench seat and the drivers seat (along with the arm rest). However, as we always use the double bed set up, we just use it as a draft excluder near the drivers door and Jen’s head. We also use to pad out stuff when we’re driving. We actually don’t think it’s the original one, we think someone before us had it made…Hope that helps?
Hi guy's. Really enjoyed your video and have enjoyed all your others. About to take plunge into buying one like Basil but im 6ft3. It is the sleeping side that worries me. My soon to be wife (a week on Saturday until our wedding) is 5ft2 so does not have these concerns 😂 many thanks and looking forward to next video.
Hi! Thank you for your kind comment…..Firstly, congratulations in advance for your wedding! With regards to the sleeping side, maybe sleep at an angle/diagonal? Or make it into 2 single beds. I (Dave) am taller than Jen but I find it fine if I’m curled up a bit whilst sleeping. I’m sure you’ll have lots of adventures in your Campervan when you get one! Enjoy!
Hi, thanks for the comment. Good question….if it’s mechanical we let the garage sort it out and if it’s a part need for the habitation area we’ve found the Autosleeper Owners Group on Facebook really helpful for advice or search Amazon, EBay etc.
We’re next door in Wiltshire and having owned a motorhome for 20 years we have just sold it and are thinking of getting a Symbol. We (hubby and me) are thoroughly enjoying your videos and have watched several over the past month or so. The tour of Basil was great and I had tears in my eyes hearing about you dear, sweet Archie. What a beautiful little frame with his darling pretty blue feathers. So special. Catch you on the next trip!
Thank you for your kind comment and we’re really glad you’re enjoying our videos. I would highly recommend Symbol’s if you’re thinking of a Campervan. Even the new Symbol’s have pretty much the exact same layout to our 2000 year model (which speaks volumes to how timeless and practical the design is and always has been). Thank you also for your kind words regarding Archie. He was certainly a character and I (Dave) even taught him how to talk….he had a huge vocabulary and, when he mixed it up, had us in stitches! Good luck in your campervan search and we hope you enjoy our future videos! 🙂
Thanks for the van tour much appreciated. Very impressed with the layout. Our old T4 now has got to go according to she who must be obeyed lol. Was going to buy a van and do self conversion but the boss said we too old now? 65-70 age group she may be right. Enjoying you channel guys x
Thanks for the kind words, glad you’re enjoying our videos/channel. Yes, our campervan does have a good layout (it suits us very well). The fact we can still park in a normal car parking space is really nice too. Good luck with whatever you decide to do (van conversion or pre built van). All the best! 🙂
Thanks for your kind comment! We’re jealous you’ve been to France & Spain in your van. We agree these Autosleepers are fantastic vans (built to last if you take good care of them). We may have to take Basil to France some time, although we’ve still got lots of the UK to explore 🙂
Hey Dave and Jen. I have just started watching your videos (snd subscribed to your channel 😊) as I have just bought my first ever campervan. Really enjoying your vlogs, especially your trips to Bath, Henley and Norfolk....so much so that I am in Wroxham this weekend and going to do a Broads Tour. Henley and Bath trips booked for later this year. This video and tour of Basil has been really interesting. Look forward to seeing your next adventure. Glenn in Kent.
Hi Glenn….firstly, thanks so much for subscribing to our channel - we really appreciate it and we’re glad you’re enjoying our videos. You’ll love the Norfolk Broads (hopefully you’ll get better weather that we did!). Henley and Bath are definitely worth visiting too, I’m sure you’ll enjoy them. Good luck with your new Campervan. I’m sure you’ll have many happy memories in it! Does your van have a name? 🙂
@@theealesadventures Hi Dave and Jen. Thanks, am loving my adventues in Lil with my 17 year old dog. I have just got back from Norfolk. The boat trip on the Broads was brilliant has you said, and I managed to get into Fellbrig. Lovely gardens.
great vlog. Absolutely loving these vlogs, I get to see home, well England lol. That rain and hail was intense. We daily vlog too. Fun to look back on all the memories. Looking forward to the next one.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re glad you’re enjoying our videos (and jealous you get to enjoy all that Florida sun!). Part 2 of our Norfolk trip is up on our channel now, if you haven’t seen it. Will definitely check out your channel too! Thanks again 🙂
Enjoyed your Norfolk videos. The weather has been poor this year … so much rain. Love those Monzu pizzas. Looked like you enjoyed your time anyway. Will check out some of your other videos as well. 👍🙂
Haha…No (although I can see why you might think so). We bought Basil about 2 years before Mandy had her van. If anything, Jits Into The Sunset inspired us to get an Autosleeper camper. 😎
Awesome….We love Norfolk too (and will definitely be back). We haven’t tried wild camping yet, I guess we’re a bit scared we’d get “the knock” and told to jog on. Basil isn’t the most stealthy of campers 😂 Do you have any tips? We have done a few BritStops in the past though. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Nice! Yes, we like having the awning on Basil. Is yours a drive-away awning? That’s something we’ve thought about, but end up talking ourselves out of.
Nice trip, you are having a great time travelling around the UK in your Van. Can I ask a question? I have been thinking about one of these autosleepers but have been worried about chassis rust. These vans are all very old now and pretty much all of them are going to have or have had some sort of underbelly rust. I see yours had some major welding time in the past and has had advisories. When you bought yours did you worry about the rust and are you doing anything going forward to stop it spreading and how long do you think you can keep it running. I am concerned about spending 10-15k and not get that many more years out of it. Enjoyed the videos!
Nice comment, thanks! The welding shown in the MOT history is pre us. However we’ve had 2 lots of welding done (a hole in the side and the front wheel arches). Find a good welder, and get any spots done as soon as they show. Also find a good garage and get regular services. We enjoy nursing Basil and looking after him. Think he has a few years left yet. Expect to spend money, but also expect to get lots of enjoyment too 🙂
Yeah, it’s easy to manage. Our Van is from 2000, so obviously it’s not going to drive like a newer vehicle (and we often have to drop it down to 2nd gear up hills), but it’s fine. Perfect for days out, weekends and proper holidays (week/fortnight). Last year we went to Cornwall for a week and for 2 weeks up to York, Lincoln & Cromer. This year we have a week in Norfolk and a 2 week jaunt up to the Lake District planned! 🙂 Edit: Sorry last year we went to North Wales (York etc was the year before)
@theealesadventures5062 Perfect thats music to my ears the transporter I had was just too small inside and I am of course looking for that space inside and comfort for longer trips same year the one I'm buying infact you have to admit autosleeper are genius with there lay out structure
@oldbonesgarage977 Yeah, the layout really hits the sweet spot. Even the news Autosleeper Symbols have pretty much the same layout (if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it). 👌🏼
Thanks for sharing. Look like you guys are loving the van. We bought Nelly, a Peugeot, Autosleeper Symbol (1996 model) at the end of last season and taking her on our first trip the second week of April. We have been caravans for years and we are very excited to be going on our first campervan holiday. :)
What mpg do you get with your Talbot ? I suppose it's a 1.9 diesel engine , isn't it? Do you have electric steering wheel or is it the original one ? TIA !
Hi….Sorry for the late reply. Our van is a Peugeot, Autosleeper Symbol (2000 model), so not a Talbot. It’s a 1.9 petrol engine (not a diesel). It’s the original steering wheel that came with it.
Hi….Thanks for your comment, glad you’re enjoying our videos. Yeah, we know we should get out our content a bit quicker (sorry!). We have have just uploaded our latest Wales video and look out for our Henley-On-Thames video which I’m (Dave) in the process of editing 🙂
Looks great fun we have Fudge our symbol We have just had a great week in Norfolk she didnt miss a beat😊 also passed her MOT without adversories or comments
Thanks for your comment….Fudge is a great name for a van (is there a story behind that?). We loved staying in Norfolk last year - we stayed walking distance to Cromer. 🙂
Love watching your "NATURAL", not "made for subscribers / likes" videos. Just a thought, as you use a lot of EHU at sites, have you thought of using a twin electric hotplate type thingy for cooking? (saves on gas !!! ). Keep the videos coming. Have you thought of doing a walk around van tour ? - i like being nosey. hahaha.
Hi there….thanks for your comment! Glad you’re enjoying our videos. That’s a great idea regarding electric hot plates, I guess the only problem we might have there is space in the van (for storage), but definitely worth thinking about! With regards to a van tour, yes that’s something we might do! We’ve just got back from a couple of weeks in Wales (stay tuned for some videos of that trip coming soon), but after that a “van tour” video is definitely on the cards! Nothing wrong with being nosey…we’re the same! 😉
We had caravans for 20 years, and soon realised that if you are paying for EHU, you might as well use the FREE electric, rather than gas. We also had electric fans and heaters too. Looking forward to the Wales and "van tour" videos.@@theealesadventures
I honestly think you've picked the perfect van for a couple touring the lanes of Britain - everything you need in a size that can easily go anywhere......and of an age where the purchase price would be sensible. Something I've noticed a lot over the years is how it's often the older campervans that really get used as they should be - and not spending most of the time parked on the drive! Enjoy your travels!
Hi Robert…You are so right! Yes, we love the size of our van, it’s perfect for us. We’re currently in it right now in North Wales (keep an eye on our channel for our Wales videos). Some of the driving we’ve done across the Snowdonia National Park we’d daren’t attempt in anything bigger/wider!
Hi…Thanks for the comment and we’re glad you’re enjoying our videos! Those thermal blinds/shades are great, aren’t they? Here’s the link where we bought them from: www.leisureoutlet.com/10680-nova-boxerducato-thermal-tailored-interior-blinds?gclid=CjwKCAjw2K6lBhBXEiwA5RjtCcFVow9NHM5TE3WF3PTlT0OlvaBJp4nvYztlNVdu_FnMmMR1tvEB9RoCCz8QAvD_BwE
Hello from Dublin 🍀🍀💚💚😺😺🍀🍀 I've just recently joined your channel. You are really showing the beautiful English countryside in your adventures. What type is your camper. ? And could you recommend a company in the UK that sell these. Or would you know of a company in Northern Ireland who are reputable ? Thanks again for sharing. ! Hugs 🍀
Hello!! Thank you so much for subscribing, we’re glad you’re enjoying our videos. Our camper, Basil, is an Autosleeper Symbol (2000 model, so getting on a bit). We bought him from JMT Leisure near Weston-Super-Mare. We know what we wanted so looked at fearless in an 80 mile radius from where we live to see if anything came up….and there he was 🙂 Not sure where is good in Northern Ireland, because we don’t live there. Perhaps have a think about what type/make of camper you’re after and then go from there. Good Luck! 👍🏻🙂
Thanks so much for getting back to me. It was really kind of you both. I will have a look at that company and you never know I might be go to England to visit friends and do some some camper searching. I would like to try camping in Ireland first and when I get brave I might try future afield. Hope your weather gets better for Devon and continues. Hugs 🍀🍀😺😺💚💚🍀🍀
We hope you find your perfect campervan….It truly is a lovely way to explore and travel (great for day trips too!). We’d love to take Basil to Ireland one day 🙂
My home county born and bred in Newquay, we used to go land's end it was free then, just the first and last pub and of course the sign post, but now it's very commercial, and I think ruined the raw beauty of Land's end, safe travels.
Hi…Thanks for comment. Yes, they have commercialised Land’s End a bit (very similar to The Needles/Allum Bay on the Isle Of Wight). We’re still glad we went though. You’re very lucky being born and brought up in such a beautiful county 🙂
Some great videos you've made guys. Have subscribed in support! We know how hard it is to make good content and get your RU-vid channel off the ground. Going through it ourselves. Keep up the good work!
Wow….thanks guys, this means a lot. We’ve just subscribed to your channel to as we like going on walks in picturesque settings. We look forward to watching your videos. Thanks again! 🙂
devon is cream first jam second cornwall jam first cream secons, devon way is best sorry guys im a devonaire dont get me started on pasties great video.
Yeah, we were a bit miffed you had to pay just to have a photo taken…..which is why we were happy to take our own selfie from a bit further away 😂 Johnny Groats is on our bucket list 👍🏻
Interesting……All my life being born and growing up in England, I’ve always been taught that Cornwall is a county in England (along with neighbouring Devon and then Dorset, where we live). Hmmmmm 🤔
England is a COUNTRY not a county. Cornwall is 100% a county in the country called England. Not sure who’s teaching you geography but they are incorrect.
Great video guys, keep up the good work. May I ask what TV you have? Is it a 12volt and to get a reception do you just use a aerial stuck outside the van.
Hi Paul….Thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed the video. Our TV is this one www.avtex.co.uk/manuals/avtex_w163d_manual.pdf It’s 12volt, and we have a fitted Ariel with a booster for TV reception (works best when hooked up using on-site electric hookup.
Wow….thanks for the comment! Really glad you enjoyed the video. Whereabouts in Australia are you from? Jen’s been to Perth, as she has a friend living there 🙂
