I have to replace the 2 gears on the side and also that big gear in there due to teeth being broke off. Is there any lining up when putting everything I mentioned back together as far as setting timing??? Thansk
@cycleguy2371...so its normal to have oil on that side??? please reply back as i removed my stator cover and seen there was oil so want to make sure it is normal to have oil on stator side
crasy flyer I have a 2006 Polaris outlaw 500 and I had oil come out when I removed the cover. Which I was confused since there are electric power in there with the stator. I would say yes it’s normal. Hope this helps
@@christianschool588 Oh yeah? What keeps all those gears lubed? Of course there is oil on that side. Cam chain is usually on that side too. Stupid to tip the bike on its side, though. Just drain the oil. Still have to worry about gas in the tank, etc. when turning it sideways...
what would make the starter sound so noisy when starting? replaced starter clutch but it still sounds like crap and seems to have kickback while trying to start also.
The Polaris dealer here (Tennessee) is also " resistant " to helping people work on their own AVT's....SAD. They wanted me to bring in my Predator 500 for service... did'nt happen.
Great video. Just thought id save you some trouble and let you know that font have to drain the oil if the bike is on a swingarm stand. The actual oil level is below both the clutch and stator covers. unless the engine was overfilled for some reason.
I was running with my highlights for about an hour on my 929 , when I started my bike again my headlights , turning signal, taillight or my side lights won't come on ... Do you think it's the flywheel or maybe some cables or idk maybe the stator but the thing is that the motorcycle starts perfectly , that's why I'm sure it's not the battery
im rebuilding a polaris 400 explorer atv engin i have all new parts and all the seals and gaskets and o rings i started it back in january i have the casing and crank back together i had to put it aside to do other stuff now i cant rember wher afew of these o roings go on the mag side ther are aiso a coupel shims that go in there too if someone could help me out it would be a great help thanks a lot terry
good vid. the leak really made it good. soapy water works with all kinds of leak locations. don't always remember it though. I found a slow leak at the rim on my tire a month ago or so. same method.
It looks like the web page is no longer good...I'm interested on renting the crankshaft installer.... can you get back to me? I really need to get this going...
Are you guys still renting tools? The website doesn't seem to be active anymore. Such a great idea, it would be a shame if it wasn't successful. Besides... i need to rent some tools.
Thanks for the tip on stuffing the cylinder with nylon rope, its one of those things that makes you go "Errh, why didn't I think of that?". I will not tell you how I used to do it before although it got the job done... -.-
I have a predator 500 and it seems that the starter clutch isn't engaging the flywheel correctly. I opened the case you took off at the beginning and clicked the starter and everything turns but the fly wheel doesn't seem to be catching anything to turn the engine over. I've carefully inspected the teeth to make sure everything was fine and they're in great condition. Me and my father even push started it and it fired up and ran fine, but it won't start. I also just replaced the start, HELP PLZ
@cycleguy2371 Finally, someone with a functioning brain! You mean you are not going to hammer a chisel between the flywheel and aluminum case? Not gonna use an air chisel to pound on crankshaft? I don't know what YOU think, but there are teenage morons w/no mechanical experience [to speak of] posting "How To" videos. One idiot wears flip-flops while running a lawn mower. I could go on...Good work! I like the tool rental plug, too. Keep it up. Refreshing video. Clean, well lit shop, too. Kudos!
@bogbasher no more than a normal press would. Because of the crank seal placement, there is no way to support the inner race of the crank bearings during installation of the crank.
