Hi, for a hinged beam you have two options, both boils down to specifying that the displacement at one end is zero, while you can still have a rotation. The first is to start the derivation assuming u1 or u2 are zero and carry on from there. The second method is used by most commercial software packages where they create a secondary "release" matrix. The effective element matrix then becomes the product of the normal [ke] matrix and the releases matrix [re]. This method is preferred because you can then easily apply partial fixities as well, not just 'complete' releases. I'm sure if you google FE element release matrix you should find something to work from. Good luck!

Thank you so much for this video. Just wanted to add, the SD card has to be 2GB or LESS in storage, the calculator has issues with SD cards 4GB and above, it couldn't format a 16GB card at all.
Hi, does anybody know hot to adjust custom_v6 file for abaqus 2019 to apply the floating license? I have 3 port@ licenses to set and I put them under the flexnet server type with "serv1;serv2;serv3" pattern but abaqus notices only serv1

Hi, @TM'sChannel: I found a confirm mistake for the value of a2 which should be: a2=-3/L3(v1-v2) - 1/L(2 Θ1+Θ2) [Not "...-1/L( 1/L(Θ1+Θ2)" as per your slides]. I checked the after derivation part with matrix and also the algebra so I have confirmed this by all means. You also check and confirm. [P.S: Just checked you already mentioned that in description and also uploaded corrected video. Thanks for that. ] updated.
The reason we should encourage everyone to use a scientific calculator or excel for college students in exams is due to time and problem-solving. In the end, we all will be using the technology for work. Why not make it easier to understand than go complicate when maths can be fun.
