*Altogether a well made lure **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it’s the skirt seems to stay on well and the whole thing is bigger than I thought it would be. The 2 metal have a nice plating on them as well.*
Arrrgh I really, really need to get a chuck for my lathe, lol. Everything I've done has just been between simple, pointed, live and dead centers, from nightsticks to musical flutes. I could get away, for now, with a drill in a vice or maybe my drill press.
@@owl331 I see there are several Al gmz on facebook. If you are on facebook you can send the pic in Messenger to me; Kermett Adams. Or you can send the pic to kermett@klures.com
que madera se usa para hacer señuelos? la madera balsa parece que flota mucho pero teniendo en cuenta los dientes de algunos peces me parece demasiado fragil la madera balsa
I had been trying to get the concave mouth on my lures using a lathe, but with a skew chisel. Not easy on such a small piece, especially when trying to carve around the tailstock live center. They come out ok like this, but your method is so much better. I just ordered my own rotary burr. Thank you for the tip!
Just come across your site, thanks so much for taking the time to make these no nonsense films, I've been making lures for some time but am new to using a lathe. I didn't realise how useful it will be for lure making. Thanks again and more films please...
Sorry, but this has got to best the best example of how NOT to use a lathe. So many things wrong, least of all you keep hitting the tail spindle with your (regular flat not a gouge) chisel which is really bad for it, not to mention really dangerous.
Hi brother , i need that tool that you are using in the 2:34 of the video, to make the mouth of the popper, where can i buy one, whats the name? Thanks
mr. Adams thank u i still geting ur book i truly beleive it will be a big plus i only been using lathe couple months and i do make poppers but i want to make a few different ones and i agree cut the lure the lenght u want it and make it that way until i saw ur video i was puting long pieces in to make a bait but no more i love doing ur way and have enjoyed it more thank u very much u are a true craftman
mr. Adams do u pre treat ur lures with any sealer the reason i ask that some people dont do it they just put 2 ton expoy on after they prime and paint the lure whats would u suggest thank u for any suggestion
Hi James, About the only lures that I treat with a sealer are the ones that I drill thru the center for thru wire constructed lures. I use MinWax Wood Sealer in the Natural color. I submerge and let the lure soak for about 30 minutes. I wipe completely dry with I take the out. I then let hang and dry for a day before I apply the base coat white. Good luck,Kermett
I appreciate the wisdom and experience you have to offer. I'm 25, from GA, just getting into the lure making world but I grew up fishing largemouth bass. I'll have to get one of those popper bits too! How nice is that, beats the hell out of using a dremel haha
I think my ebook will help you get started with lure making. Here are some of the lures that I make; see the link to my ebay store. stores.ebay.com/sunrisetacklestore Good luck,Kermett
yes sir i have a harbor freight 8x12 lathe i was wanting to know can i use a tail stock spindle on both ends of this lathe to make both ends of lure the same without having to stop and turn lure around thank u for any suggestions
Yes, you can do that. I flip the lure simply because I like to work the cutting tool from the center to the right of the lure as I am finishing it. I just have a better feel for the cutting tool by doing it that way. Good luck,Kermett
yes sir can u tell me why know mater what i do i just cant seem to get my lures to look alike just close i always heard that u cant i would be very thankful for any tips
