Unbelievable! I managed to separate the 4 wire connectors. Apparently, the tab that goes into the loop in the other side of the connector just barely fits into the loop. In order to separate the connector you have to in essence make the loop bigger so that the tang on the tab can clear the loop. I did this by holding onto the side of the connector that has the tab on it with a pair of vice grips being careful not to crush the connector and prying up on the loop with a very small screwdriver. Once the loop is big enough that half of the connector pops off. The plastic is soft enough so that it gives a little bit and did not break.
You didn't show where you have to separate the wiring harness at the connectors to get the wiring through an existing hole in the firewall. Good luck. I've been trying to get the two 4 wire connectors apart for hours. The last resort is to destroy the clip on the connector, then it'll come apart. These things are impossible. The instructions offer 1 sentence and warn not to pull on the wires. UH-HUH, yeah. I'm holding one side with vice grips and poking the tab in with a small screwdriver because pushing on the tab with my finger is worthless. I'm probably going to have to get a band-aid soon after I jab myself with the screwdriver and bleed all over the connector. If only you had used better connectors. I hope the rest of the install goes better.
I love my HDX. I am having my first issue. I cleaned up my engine area but all the wires in looms and made it pretty under the hood. I disconnect the battery. Now am getting: The buzzer going off And "BT Idle" showing up on the display. ANY HELP would be appreciated.
Good morning, Sorry to hear about the troubles. I would suggest contacting out Tech Support staff directly. You can reach them at 800-852-3228 or techsupport@dakotadigital.com, they can assist in bringing this Bluetooth setting (BT) back.
Ill be installing my HDX in my 70s Camaro. I have only one wire for the guage the brown wire. I am guessing I put that into fuel sig. If i do this with no ground on the control box will fuel gauge work? Or will I need to drop my tank and run two wires back.
If the tank is sufficiently grounded to the vehicle, a single wire connection will be OK. A dedicated ground wire is always the best option though, since it rules out potential issues below the vehicle.
@@DakotaDigitalTV thanks. I set it up with one wire. Works great. Cant believe how easy itbl was to install HDX 70C. Was planning on taking a few days after work to get done. Got it done in less then 3 hours. I spent more time reading the instructions for the past week. This thing is awesome.
Quick question, I have a 2013 road glide. I have the MLX 8604 kit installed. Have to set up my odometer asap, but I don’t have a function switch. Perhaps it’s just referring to the trip switch? The 14+ road glides have a function switch on the front side of the bars, however 98-13 do not. I just go to the odometer and hold the trip button to set? I’ll try again in the morning. Just want to make sure I set my odometer before going on my trip
@@LushikuteZikatojirik I would suggest contacting our Technical Support department directly to assist with the remainder of the installation and setup. You can call them at 800-852-3228, or by email at techsupport@dakotadigital.com
@@DakotaDigitalTV I completely apologize here, it’s my fault. You have to hold the button WHILE turning the key to enter setup mode. I’m all good now thank you, sorry for the worry!
@@DakotaDigitalTV I RAN INTO ONE MORE ISSUE! I tried using the app to NO success...if a keyfob dies, how do us users enter our PIN to start our bikes? Or are we 100% stranded because of your digital gauges?
Sorry to hear about the trouble. We better start to check with validating the Power and Ground connections. I would suggest contacting our Technical Support staff at 800-852-3228 or techsupport@dakotadigital.com.
If the GPS-50-2 is unable to receive satellite reception, it will look to the onboard accelerometer, as a backup. Keep in mind, this is only providing the speedometer information, so this will be the only readout impacted. Alternatively, this is only the case with a GPS speed sensor, a more common wired connection would never experience this.
Thank you for the message, The setup configuration, shown on the top of page #2 of the manual will reflect the 'under bar' use - which rotates the display. www.dakotadigital.com/pdf/PGR-1000.pdf
@@DakotaDigitalTV Thank you, figured it out. With the display flashing "C" before programing will the unit detect neutral yet? I am assuming it needs a run / program to be able to put into the procedure outlined on page #2?
@@discogodfather22 Yes, the flashing C will be shown if neutral is not detected. I would suggest contacting our Technical Support department directly, they can be reached at techsupport@dakotadigital.com or 800-852-3228.
Glad they're offering the RTX (aka "stock look") series to keep the stock look with modern electronics. With technology constantly advancing in cars, your dash with the "new-car gauges" look will just end up looking dated in a few years as new cars change yet again.
Thank you for the message, If you would prefer the fans to turn on at the same time, choose the Single fan operation and wire them in parallel. If you would prefer to stagger the turn-on points, choose the Two fan operation.
When using a GPS-50-2 along with a BIM-01-2 variation, we suggest connecting the Speed output from the GPS directly to the instrument system control module, not using the BIM connection.
I have no way to know what sender was used during the build of my 34 ford, but I did the custom set up, and it initially seemed to work perfectly. Next day I start it up to take a test run, and I get a Fuel F3 error and it shows empty… what might have happened? Could it be interference and I need to twist the wires running to the sender? I thought I was too lucky when it worked first time!
Thank you for the message, it sounds like the connection to the sensor may have been lost. I would suggest contacting our Technical Support department, 800-852-3228, or techsupport@dakotadigital.com.
I went back to the sensor to check it and found the signal wire connection had loosened up again and was giving an erratic reading. I terminated that line with a fresh connector and re-seated it and put a drop of lock right on it. New ohm readings matched a GM sensor on the list, and I am in business! Thank you!
My shifting pattern is PRND21. All of the shifting patterns listed on the website and my Dakota Digital dash have PRNOD…… can I remove the overdrive from the pattern on screen?
Thank you for the message, If you haven't already, I would suggest contacting our Technical Support staff for assistance: 605-332-6513 or techsupport@dakotadigital.com .
Good day, We will want to be sure of the exact product that you have to provide the proper instructions. Please contact our Technical Support staff at 800-852-3228 or techsupport@dakotadigital.com.
China has got nothing on this company. Amazing high tech manufacturing. From reading the PDF on a VHX 1018 model, I suspected this company was top level. Now I understand how they can put so many features into their dash units. I'm ready to buy.
An OEM replacement fuel level sensor is the best option for this application, since this will drop into place without modification - and can be ready by the Dakota Digital instrument system.
Hello there, I ordered one with Your sensor, just got it install and I notice the temperature aren't the same of the car, my car water temperature with the cat off is at 54° and the unit says it's at 101° if I run warn up the car is about 10° colder then the temperature of the Dakota unit. Do i need to adjust or calibrate it? Thank You in advance.
If you would like to utilize a GPS speedometer, the GPS-50-2 would be required. But, since the 4L80E transmission has a VSS onboard, you could connect to this instead, creating a wired connection to the Dakota Digital system.
