I have just done exactly the same thing on a modded A1up cab inspired by your video. One question. Have you been able to get the 2 Player button working? ie, you have 2 credits, hit 2 player button, and then can alternate between 2 players with the 1 joystick? Thanks.
I did manage to get it working after a lot of trial and error. Unfortunately, I don't really remember exactly how I got it to work. You have to mess with the Input settings, under Quick Menu - Controls. Set Port 1 and Port 2 both to the same index, if I remember correctly. Then mess around with those settings a bit, you will probably figure it out. When you do, please share what the trick is because I honestly forgot! I wish I'd made a note about it. From a quick look, I have Port1 and Port2 on the same device index (in my case DragonRise USB controller). Port 1 select is Auto 10 (shift in my case), Port 1 Start is Auto 1 (Enter in my case). Port2 Start is Auto 10. Port2 Select is N/A (Off). Let me know if this helps!
Hi. Thanks for the video! I like your build. What mod did you do to your Arcade1up machine to get it to play PinballFX3? Did you add a backglass monitor to it too?
@@TreZ - Oh. Let me be clear. It's not the last R360 ever in the entire world. But it's the last Sega R360 in an arcade in the whole world. The other surviving Sega R360s are in private collections, or in museums. So if you ever go back to Galloping Ghost, give it a try. It's basically a once in a lifetime thing.
The video failure is not related to MovieCart - it just happens on my Atari, likely because it's really old. It happens often when I have it on for more than a few minutes
Perhaps get its capacitors replaced with new ones, that should fix any errors with any old tech. Those dissipate and die over time which causes death of the tech or errors or things such as tape decks to lose their high end or low end and such over time as the capacitors wear out and die. Replacing those could restore it to its youth!
Sorry, I don't have footage of the P/N number, so I don't remember. You can find it by opening the back of your cabinet - it's right on the monitor itself
@@TreZ Thanks for the reply! I got the monitor P/N off your video, but cannot find a driver/controller board for it, just wondering if you still had it off the one you ordered for your XL, Thx!
If you're just upgrading the stick, I don't think the one in this video will work. However, before this mod, I upgraded the stock stick with one of these, and it was a huge improvement. You can set the gate to be 4 or 8 way (recommend 4-way for Pacman, etc). Also, I recommend you get a stronger spring (4 or 6 lb - I like 6lb, myself): www.diyretroarcade.com/collections/arcade-parts-control-panels/products/genuine-sanwa-jlf-tp-8yt-5-pin-joystick-for-arcade1up
Great! But... Is it possible to have these vertical games (in full screen mode) and also have the horizontal 4:3 games, leaving a "black space" above and below the vertical monitor? Thanks in advance
HI this is mike i have my own videos up on my Arcade1up pac-man XL you say you are using the USB to power the coin door and it would not work with the marquee please note the USB is only putting out 5v and the coin door lights are working with the 5v power however the coin door is looking for 12vdc power and will wear out your 5vdc power source you are using the wrong input power !!!!!!Fire Hazard!!!!!
@@TreZ any USB plug you use no matter what it is a cell phone charger 5v dc not 12v dc you need 12vdc for your coin door and the marquee and video driver i have all the 12v dc run off a 12v switching power supply i also deal with DIY know Shane if i was you i would use a 12v switching power supply and use the +5v for your raspberry pi and 12v for everything 12v remember the power supply is Yellow is 12v and Red is 5v that is how jamma is but i know you not using jamma.

I've done a few pandora boxes in these. I would really like to try this....................book marked. You might have been able to keep the on off switch? Not sure if the pi has a button setup for on off. Will learn it all soon. Or break my machine :)
If you're going to mod it, that's really just a question of which one you prefer the look of. XL is harder to take apart and reassemble. But if you're going to mod yours, you'll end up replacing the stick and games, so it's up to you
You can run a script on your Pi to make it so that the original A1Up power switch works, and you can do the same for the volume switch, but you'd have to replace it with one of the older 3-way switches (it doesn't work with the newer ones). And yeah, if you don't care, that's fine too-- just a nice extra mod to do.
If I had known that, I would have done it! But, I'm happy with it as it is. I have plans to mod my TRON machine next - I might bug you with some questions about the power/volume switches when I start that project, if you don't mind :)
Got my 8 way joystick and buttons from tornado Terry as well a few years ago did a lot of homework I did accidentally pick up one before that though it was generic and once I got the real deal from tornado Terry you could easily tell the quality difference❤
Awesome work man! I've been building VP cabinets for 15 years now (lol I'm old). I've been waiting for a day when a PC this size would be able to run our cabinets. Amazing.
I totally agree,as it seems as tho it's all been rushed out for pure profit and thyve not given a thought for making it bang on as the original, beginning scene missing from boulders and electric floor knight jump the gap scene, plus out of sync for bowling ball and Daphne speech scenes, the best full versions that I ever played apart from arcade, are on the Phillips cdi player on lair, time warp and space ace,as these are port perfect!
I don't think there's a link on their site, yet. But just contact them and tell them you want the new Steam Deck cabinet and they will know what you mean. This WAS a custom job! They are very friendly and helpful. I told them I basically wanted the Nintendo Switch cabinet, but with a flat top so I could mount the Steam Doc. They did a great job - this is exactly what I wanted!
@@TreZthanks! Just saw you answered earlier to other commenters. Last year, I got their 24” tabletop offering. I had to do some things to get it to my liking, but overall it’s a good cab. Only real gripe is it’s not the best for your hands. You’re basically gripping the side panels, and your hands start to hurt if you’re pushing on them too much. But yours looks like it’s a little more flush with the plexiglass. Would you say it’s comfortable to play on?
It doesn't come with games. You will need to use Baller Installer, Pinup Popper, and Visual Pinball X to add games. There's a bit of a learning curve, but once it clicks, it's pretty simple!
@@TreZ *Visual Pinball X. Also, don't undersell it... there's a steep learning curve for the typical consumer. Even techies have a lot to learn and figure out.
Not yet - if you contact them, just tell them you want the new Steam Deck cabinet and they should know what you mean. Maybe even send them the link to this video (I've already shared it with them)
Solenoids are not working in this phase. BUT! I found that there are solenoids that you can hook directly to the buttons, so there's no software involved in making them work. I intend to add them in Phase 2. Stay tuned!

Recently acquired a Arcade1Up pinball AFM and wanted to do what you did. When you upgraded your playfield monitor did you have to remove all the casing from the new TV to get it to fit? What PC are you using?
