I remember the first signals coming up on 953-ish kHz, slightly off-channel, maybe by 300 Hz, making a heterodyne tone of that audio frequency. Also what sounded like "teething troubles" instability happening (a strong wandering oscillation not far off channel), "modulated" by repeated "donks" - that I imagined was someone hitting/tapping something (a valve? trying to get a spurious near-channel oscillation to stop?). Was it?
It was a great move, from my POV, listening then in South Wales, via my metal bed and metal window frame (each as "half a dipole") tuned up via a DIY ATU.
Wow.!! A walk down memory lane I can remember those days as if it was yesterday !!! Made many trips out to the Mi Amigo it alway's had a special aura around it ❤ Great memories Great days
I remember hearing a clip with Sean Tilley attempting to get people from the then to become the former East Germany on the collapse of the Wall to call in, but people were still fearful of doing so in case it was all to go wrong and have to be heard to be speaking out or just simply couldn't believe it to be true. Understandable tbh!
Offshore radio was the very best radio that there has ever been .wish we still had one still broad casting now .Caroline is land based now still good but not the same 👍👍
Rni and Veronica kept us going when other pirates were shut down. Great stations. Roger "Twiggy" Day " Your thinner record spinner" those were the days.
I will always miss Radio Luxembourg. I listened to them religiously from Poland from 1975 till 1987 when I moved to Canada. I still remember some of the jingles. I loved the one based on 'Images Of Fire', a 1986 song by Fatal Charm, which was a Powerplay song of the week, when it came out
Love this - very 1966 - although the tune and the lady come from much earlier, - a guy called Mel Henke. It just has some BoB Stewart dialogs dropped on top. I wonder who the 'girl' is on this??
What a great video and amazing jingles from a time when radio rocked. One of the best stations certainly the most fascinating you never new what would happen next. But alway very cool and professional Thanks for putting it together
