Yes. The signal on 319 metres where I lived in Cambridge was always rather 'crackly' as they were only using 10 kilowatts. I believe they were using their more powerful 50 kilowatt transmitter for their Dutch service on 259 metres.

How Caroline SHOULD sound. Excellent.

The momentary signal cutouts are not flaws on the tape. I believe they happened whenever the mast would sway too far because it altered the impedance of the antenna and caused the transmitter to trip out as a safety measure. Sound quality isn't too bad considering, but would be improved by splitting the stereo sound file into its component channels, discarding the left channel and converting the right channel which has better treble response to mono.
