Here in Europe most people drive cars with manual transmission, but when I search for used Porche Caymans and Boxters that is for sale 2/3 of them vanishes from the the list when I tick of manual gear. Who buys a SPORTS CAR with automatic gearing? Like a Porche reviewer said, unless you are severly handicapped buy a Porche with manual gearing !!!
Can't get over the price of a hardtop miata. Starting at 37k for the cheapest hard top is too much money. They also lock too many options to certain (expensive) trim packages. GR86 is far and away the better value unless you absolutely need a soft top convertible. 43k for an optioned hard top miata vs 35k for an optioned GR86.
I think the issue is, on tirerack they dont really list all weather per se, at least last time i looked. However they do have an option for "severe weather" i think, which gives you the tripple peak tires
The core or premium might be cheaper, but the circuit just has the looks. The vehicle handles so well, though. It is crazy how planted it feels. I only put a little over 500 miles on my CE right now, and it is a fantastic drive feeling.
I decided to try the Quadtrac Pros on our 2021 Durango AWD. After 20k miles, my fronts are in good shape but the rears are completely shot. We're not really "hooning" since its mostly my pregnant wife on twisty backroads with kids. I'm going to reach out to Vredestein and see if there is a warranty. We had a few nasty storms up here in WI with 12+ plus inches at at time and the tires did phenomenal, just wish they'd last a bit longer. Great vid guys!
Great review, great video. Although I really don’t understand why you are all hung up on manual shifting via a traditional clutch. You got yourself those paddle shifters right there, you got launch control. I loved my manual cars but once I experienced paddles on my BMW and Porsche, never looked back. I drive “manual” all the time.
I get 25km max ev in summer on my 2015 cayenne. Forces me to hyper mileage, but it has a great soothing/relaxing effect on me, especially in city traffic.I love to be able to charge battery with the gas engine and have full range entering city center.
Can confirm: this car is next level. Everything T&P said is bang-on accurate. Have a 2013 here that needed some love and restoration. The gearing, power, and powertrain are outstanding. $30k interior with a $100k chassis and powertrain. 60mph in 1st gear. 90 in 2nd. 125 in 3rd. 4th goes to plaid (148mph) Sounds and feels amazing. Makes you hyper aware that it could kill you. If you like speed but still want to fly under the radar, this is your dance partner. Just pick your favorite color and enjoy the rocket ship experience. 🚀 ❤️
You boys have done such a wonderful job for so many years, you truly deserve your success. Tremendous respect for you and the entire ED gang from Texas. 🍻 ❤️
Man, I wished Chevrolet released a six generation Camaro Z28. It was supposedly be equipped with a naturally-aspirated 5.5 liter LT3 V-8 (327 cubic inch). It was going under development, but GM executives pulled the plug because of poor sales. It would have definitely been a force to be reckon with
Vredestein Quatrac Pro+ or Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 Plus tires? It be for a Q5 in the Chicagoland area. We get it all weather wise. From days that are super hot to brutal cold/snow. I have experienced the DWS 06 Plus tires and usually a good go to for a good all around tire. I have been happy with them, but they just don't last very long. 3 years with roughly around 30,000 miles. I have never experienced anything from Vredestein. So any insight would be appreciated.
All three cars are great. While I think Toyota is amazing, this new Supra doesn't really reflect that (for me anyway). Ford took a long time to grow on me, but the S550 design was a better looking car. It seems Ford keeps building a taller car and it's a mistake. * No more than 50" high. * Keep Mustang design, the 650 is looking Camaro-ish I like Nissan, but I am bias. I do feel the long hood isn't necessary. I am partial to the 300 body and would like to see it that with modern Z aesthetics.
Only 14 miles of range on the battery? Why bother replacing it when it dies? I've owned a 2005 and 2011 Cayenne turbos. The weak point in both engines were the plastic coolant pipes that run across the top of the engine.
I am not aware of ANY other new sports car w real steering feel of hydraulic w/o electric. Add the manual transmission and im certain its 1/1 amongst the competitors. If the chassis of the evora is close to its feel; nothing compares
Funny how Nissan used to market the Z as " the affordable sports car". Now it's not affordable at all and it's barely a sports car so much as a GT. The future sucks.
I think the push for full electrification (while a worthy overall goal) has caused many to overlook the significant benefits of an interim plug-in hybrid solution. As you point out, a relatively small battery allows you to do most of your day to day errands/commute in EV mode, while still being able to take advantage of the existing fuel infrastructure for longer trips. We have 80K miles on our '21 RAV4 Prime and still get 40 miles of electric range... plus 35+ MPG when running on gasoline.
people saying it's the wrong one are divorced from the realities of energy efficiency, or gas prices. filling up an everyday car with mileage in the teens makes me want to dig my brain out of my ears with a soup spoon, sounds so miserable...battery reliability is excellent and that's been proven for a quarter century now, and the "it only gets X miles of range in EV only mode" always ignores how much farther they go on blended mode with that nice battery size. Plug-ins are pretty great, I wish manufacturers had put more emphasis on them in that ICE to EV transition.
I'm excited to get some updates. I don't think it's a crazy price for what it is, but definitely far out of reach. -- not about that really, glad you can enjoy it!
First time viewer and I am hooked! I love this car and like it more than Porsche, more exclusive and striking! Enjoy it and let us know about any issues that pop up, and I think Lotus will back off on last ICE car like many others have already!
would probably get 16 without it, which means that fuel use per 1000 miles has decreased from 62.5 to 45.5, a saving of 17 gallons per 1000 miles. Compare that to hybridizing an economy car that might get 35 MPG as a non-hybrid and 50 as a hybrid, that's a decrease from 28.3 to 20 gallons per 1000 miles, a saving of 8.3 gallons per 1000 miles. The fuel economy of that hybrid economy car would have to go all the way from 35 to 90 MPG to save the same 17 gallons per 1000 miles that the Cayenne hybridization does. While this math does indicate that the real way to save fuel is to get smaller, less powerful vehicles with less frontal area, all things being equal in terms of size, weight, and performance, it actually makes the most sense to hybridize larger, heavier vehicles in terms of actual fuel savings. MPG is a bit of a false metric as opposed to gallons per mile.
As Todd mentioned here and in prior films on this Cayenne 22 isn’t amazing. But the older prior Cayenne barely did 16, so it’s a 50% improvement! Thanks for watching!
Hi, from Japan!! Of course, I love your new car reviewing films on Everyday Driver channel. However, I also love your showing how the cars work at real life like this video. Thank you as always!!
I’ve got a ‘13 Diesel with 19” wheels which I think are a perfect size for the cayenne. However, it does seem like there are a few more tire options stepping up to the 20” oem wheel size. Go figure. My guess is the ride would be pretty harsh on those 21s without the air suspension. Mine is steel springs and a bit stiffly sprung but not punishing.
I'll stick with my stickshift 2017 Corvette C7. The C7 is quick enough 0-60 in 3.8 seconds with stickshift and a removeable roof and loud exhaust, that I'd rather have fun. If I were ever to upgrade to another sports car, I'd be willing to give up the removable roof for these cars: - Lotus Emira - Alpine A110
