As others have noted, Guan Yu proper was very interesting. The healing from the spin was fine, but the real high-risk, high-reward playstyle was using its Special, which hit like a truck and did AOE damage even before being Booned and Pommed. Would love to see you use it. Felt a lot like White Antler.
As someone with 700 hours in Hades I, I can attest that this is way too manageable compared to the clunky Guan Yu aspect, and I say it as a fan of the spear in Hades I 🤣 the fact that it had a lifesteal and yet its best ability was the special (which did NOT have the lifesteal mechanic, only the attack did) will never not get to me. You needed Quick Spin if you wanted to get anywhere in an attack run, and to take max health rewards as often as possible unless you were such a pro at the game that you had no fear you'd get hit (honestly even with Athena's dash you were in deep shit with this one unless you're just THAT good). Ah, the max health thing is because it was similar to the White Antler keepsake, only it DIDN'T give you crit rate in exchange for nerfing your health massively, and max health rewards were still nerfed (a centaur heart would be +12 max health, Darkness's max health buff went down from +5 to +2). Notoriously, White Antler is a voluntary choice separate from any weapon aspect, so you're not forced to take it, you can if you're cracked (as you are) but if you need to play it safer you can pick whatever you want. There was very much no running away from Guan Yu's health nerf. Long story short, in my humble opinion your Hades II Guan Yu is miles better than what Guan Yu really was like hahahaha. Great video and good work on a 50 fear run! I'm still gradually inching towards 20 fear myself, hopefully I'll be confident enough to give it a shot soon.
Guan Yu was great and not clunky. The life penalty was necessary and honestly didnt even hurt that bad becaise you could keep your distance and do so much damage. If you wanted to do a hitless high Heat run, the two best Aspects to pick between are Hestia and Guan Yu, by far. Super safe, as counterintuitive as it can sound. Lifesteal is meaningless since you always take the Heat that gives you 0 healing, esp at 700 hours in
@@joedorben3504 I mean, two people can have entirely different experiences with the same thing. As much as I can respect your opinion, you're literally only proving me correct, you're very much saying you were very good at the game and that's why you used it effectively (to the point of running it in high heat hitless?? I don't think I ever mentioned it in that context but basically only very confident and experienced players would do that??). I know several players who stumbled with Guan Yu in their games and never even unlocked the last aspects because they couldn't get that singular clear with Guan Yu. It's a challenge, also because it was DESIGNED to be a challenge. I played with it plenty, I cleared the game many times with it (can't remember with what heat though, it's been a while), and I still would call it difficult to master and nowhere near as fluid and fun as this particular axe build looked.
nope! just 50 fear vanilla, i will always state in the video when im playing the randomizer and the link will be in the description so otherwise its not
Funny I just accidentally made this build for myself yesterday with Heph blast on sprint and it's ridiculously funny and op. I still use some casts to like lock enemies in place and such but damn it's fun to watch stuff just auto explode around you. I don't know build creation in great depth but learnt a few things watching your game. Why do you pick the attack, cast or special boons when you never wish to use them? You said it would help you get something else from Aphrodite but I didn't quite understand that part.
the game will try to fill up your "core" boon slots first (the 5 boons shown on the left side of your screen) so when looking for something that is not one filling up those slots will make it so the boon you are looking for is easier to get since they will not offer you core boons once you have one unless you get offered a trade but that is uncommon
The flower pickups also count for max HP from Plentiful Forage, even though the description doesn't indicate it! Looks like you didn't know since you skipped them. Edit: Figured it out in Tartarus, knowledge acquired. And yes, buying seeds from wells does/did work. Also, Fight Fight Fight is a thing you can do for a hilarious number, although it never has any effect by the time you get to Chronos.
Cool build, been waiting for this run. I use a different start than you but focus on the same 4 gods. My max hp was 1074 I believe. Keep going for these, I wanna see you get up to at least 900
@@Boat3d just started with plentiful forage, got level 2 in the second room, farmed digs and plants/mushrooms/flowers (yes, you get hp from those) Got water fitness later in the run, one chaos room gave me hp and chaos egg gave me +3 elements which has synergy with water fitness
How would this build be hurt with the blue shields fear that protects from the first hits? For my Chronos runs, which are also heavy hitting, I must avoid that fear like the plague. Another fear you feel would hurt this build too badly?
@@rosieredanaThank you, I appreciate everyone’s feedback. I view it all constructively and never take it personally but at the end of the day I’ll do what makes me happy! It ain’t no thang either way brother 🤙
Hey man, your comments aren’t showing up as notifications for me, this is a few days in a row now this has happened sadly so I’m sorry if I missed any! Thanks for watching and commenting
@@Boat3d No worries brother. RU-vid is shitter app sometimes. Sometimes I don’t know what to comment so I leave comment like this to help your videos 👍🏼
Brother I am 2 days late but Nervous Wreck gives Blitz sometimes. I think you have it a few times. I see you do 568 damage with yellow color one time somewhere
