The music sounds like the Bayanihan. The rotating clapping sticks is great. The dancers were phenomenal and kept up their smiles. Well done, troupe!

I remember dancing this in front of tourists mostly Germans in Cebu Club Pacific Resort.. I was in high school then...We performed a lot of Filipino cultural dances. They took pictures but we never saw it. During those years smart phones , cellphones, internet , uploads, viral or trending are never hesrd of..

I like this group. There is grace . You can see it by the way the folded hands moved. It alao means they dance in tiptoe. We did like this during our elementary days. Our teacher was so strict. Nonha ds down. Only on shoukder level. Hold the skirt lightly so your arms will move with grace. Dance in tiptoe. Head slightly tilted. And lastly smile and enjoy the dance. I miss those days in Mababang Paaralan. Hahahaha

I remember dancing "Pandango sa Ilaw" years ago and someone accidentally set her Filipiniana aflame. Everyone continued the dance while the girl and her partner + a teacher try to help her 😭

The datu- is looking down so he does not suffer ankle injury from the bamboo clapping. Sense of timings important like my mom says. I once wore a sarong & clapped too. Anyway, on internet I came across the Javanese town- namesake of the Singkil dance name. Southwest Java. Again, our cultures- dance, food, weaponry, music the same. An Indonesian female once mistook me for Indonesian😄

My grandma is from the Philippines and my aunt and uncle and cousin just moved back there to help spread the gospel. I learned this dance from My family. They always told me don't ever mess up or you well loose a foot lol.

That dance is a story about love. It means that if you make a mistake or go off track you will get hurt. Simple but deep

Tinikling -- is the National Dance in the Philippines using bamboo poles! Bamboo -- is the National Tree in the Philippines! Tinikling is a perfect form of exercise of the performers from pratice until actual performance, very exhsusting, but fulfilling when perfected! 💖👍👏

for people who want to know about the song: its based off rice farmers using traps for the bird "tikling" so they cant eat their crops but they still end up avoiding them

I wonder how many of the senior citizen women watching this remember doing this in girls gym class in the US back in the day? we had fun but the problem was that while we gurls had to learn folk dances the boys were doing competitive sports.
