nobody is forced to care about anything or anyone, but: it would be very nice to provide the music sheet, which could easily be obtained. if you dont want to write it down manually, you could just play it on a controller and have software write it down automatically. And you could just offer it online for 5 or 10 bucks. Afaik that's legal, at least thousands of people are doing it and it does seem this happens on legit websites.
Ian, you were always a household name for us. We used to frequent the caravan parks in the early 90s and my mom adored you. We always listened to your cassette at the time and that coupled with my father’s musical talent lead me to where I am today as a professional musician. You’re a legend and you don’t even know it! I’d love to hear that cassette again 💙
@@choppertowers don’t be sorry Ian I never expected you to remember us. Having said that when I dig out the photo albums I’ll send you a few photos of you and my folks. Do I remember rightly, you once did a cockney medley on one of your records?? Including Roll out the Barrel.
Hi Ian, I'm new to your channel. I've just sat, transfixed by the way you played Life on Mars. I've been looking for a tutorial for this track. A tutorial where someone breaks the track down into bitesize portions and shows which keys and chords to play. If anyone can do this, you can.
Hi Mark, thanks for your kind comments :) My playing of Life on Mars? is the result of having been playing it for probably 40 years! I do not believe conplex pieces like this can be broken into bite sized pieces. I would suggest you find the chords to this (and lots of other songs you like) and first learn those, and gradually try to play the melody over the top. It takes a long long time to really get thsi to work, but it will set you up to then easily play many many songs. This would be so much more effective for your musical development than being spoon fed a difficult arrangement before you are ready. I used to teach piano and regularly came across people who had achieved Grade 8 when they were teenagers, but could not actually sit down and play anything other than the pieces they had been "spoon fed " for the exam. I hope this helps and does not disappoint you too much. Best wishes
I am no Bowie fan, but I'll make an exception here to praise the song itself, and this particular rendition. Beautifully executed. A most unusual song, and I think Rick Wakeman's influence is very substantial on the original to which I paid no particular attention until I heard Rick Wakeman performing it on piano recently. Damn, no I have to off and learn it. Can't let it go!
It's a God-awful small affair To the girl with the mousy hair But her mummy is yelling, "No" And her daddy has told her to go But her friend is nowhere to be seen Now she walks through her sunken dream To the seat with the clearest view And she's hooked to the silver screen But the film is a saddening bore For she's lived it ten times or more She could spit in the eyes of fools As they ask her to focus on Sailors fighting in the dance hall Oh man, look at those cavemen go It's the freakiest show Take a look at the lawman Beating up the wrong guy Oh man, wonder if he'll ever know He's in the best selling show Is there life on Mars? It's on America's tortured brow That Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow Now the workers have struck for fame 'Cause Lennon's on sale again See the mice in their million hordes From Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads Rule Britannia is out of bounds To my mother, my dog, and clowns But the film is a saddening bore 'Cause I wrote it ten times or more It's about to be writ again As I ask you to focus on Sailors fighting in the dance hall Oh man, look at those cavemen go It's the freakiest show Take a look at the lawman Beating up the wrong guy Oh man, wonder if he'll ever know He's in the best selling show Is there life on Mars?
