Great idea but maybe you should have assembled it as very annoying watching it with someone not knowing how to do it

I would suggest not putting the peanut butter all the way to the end of the can..entice them to reach for it so they would interact with the can. You don't want them to be holding on to the wire and eating the PB.

Oh yes. I forgot to tell you that the wire is brilliant for carrying the very hot fire to the snuff pot. Khantal wire handles are a very bad conductor. So if they're big like mine they stay cool. The melting point of 1400 helps them last long. Happy experimenting

My name is Howard and I have not used alcohol for years. I have moved on to the the woodstove. Charcoal. I found the alcohol stoves endlessly fascinating but expensive. I have made lots of stoves being very simple with Khantal wire or nichrome. The trick is the breathable bottom. Now I am working on the double walled type stoves for the attempt to get a very clean no soot burn. Well thats the holy grail. ru-vid.comg_m2LNOg5zA?feature=share

These bucket traps are very popular in the Phillipines where there's rat infestation. 🐀 This man made a video from there, and made 5 buckets. The buckets were full of drowned rats. 👌 👏 I'm sending your video to my boyfriend in Louisiana. He has rats in his attic. I enjoyed how patient you were involving your son in your project. Good job Dad!! 👏

You need a vent neat the very top, or you will have alcohol spurting out of the bottom cup. You also need to permanently attach the top part to the bottom, o you will eventually lose one part. I would suggest using J.B. Weld. This design is the same principle of the catfood-can stove.

Simple design. Should of boiled an egg to see if the alcohol would of lasted. Thanks for your efforts and sharing 👍🇬🇧

Just hold the can in your hand and feed the wire through. Then feed one end of the wire through the bucket from the inside, then the other side.

I made this. Did not work for me. The coat hanger is too skinny for the mice to walk on, so they don't. I've had it out for days and nothing. - Apparently the mice here need more of a track to get to the can. Maybe a cut toilet-paper roll over the hanger on the ramp side would work?

Smart kid...he right away turned the can around to hit the harder part first. Also much easier to insert the wire into the can first as he was doing. The wire and can later be inserted into the bucket from the inside, hitting one hole first and going through far enough to lower the other end into the bucket and out the other hole. I see that this is an old post, I'm sure he is now grown and making you very proud.

Find a drill bit the right size. Put a little oil on the part and drill in reverse. Hole should be smooth and round. Dunno why people sand the paint off. Paint protect the aluminum.

cool! the only thing that might be a bit concerning is how the pot is resting on such a small diameter surface. But I think that could be fixed by making a pot stand out of hardware cloth that is just a hair below the bottom of the pot as it rests on the stove. That way if you were to bump it while in use, the hardware cloth "stand" would catch it and keep it from falling completely over.
@aokspage
@aokspage 3 года назад
Absolutely. I always use a pot stand now. It actually helps the stove preform better
