I, too am trying not to buy any advents this year, I have so many from previous years. All your makes are so inspiring ✨️ I've watched Vera for years but just recently discovered Shetland, which I didn't realise is the same writer. So give that a go, if you haven't already 😊
I watched the first season of Shetland a few years ago and enjoyed it. I think I'll try that again, thank you! I think I bought a Beehive Yarns DK Grease themed yarn from you too 😉 I made my Daft Days cardigan with that yarn 😍
Amanda, your crochet cardi is gorgeous. Great idea to try it on when both sleeves are at the same length before finishing them. I think the cute donkey looks masculine, and his name could be Dougal? ❤from NZ

Amanda, I have all my Christmas socks in a box and bring them out in December, my aim is to knit 31 pairs, one for each day. It’s Christmas in July at the moment and I have two pairs of WYS on the needles at the minute!
@sandraquince1970 I have bought two boxes, Sandra - one for Christmas socks and one for Halloween. What WYS yarns are you using just now? 31 pairs of socks for December! That is a fabulous amount of Christmas socks 😍
Hi Amanda, I’m currently knitting the Silent night (the blue sparkly one) and gingerbread. I seem to collect them each year and never get round to using them so I thought Christmas in July would be the perfect opportunity. Have you used either of these ones?
@@sandraquince1970 The WYS Christmas colourways are all so lovely 😍 I do the same - collect them every year. I have knitted socks with all the xmas colours, But I don't have silent night ones for myself. I hope that you are enjoying knitting your yarns for Christmas in July.

Your socks are all so gorgeous! I defibately find that my socks knit up with a heel flap and gusset last longer than socks knit up with any other heel and in whatever yarn. So, from now on I will be knitting all if my socks with a heel flap and gusset. Yes, they take longer to knit, but the extra effort pays off in the long term as the socks wear better. and last longer! I also much prefer top down socks!

Amanda, I would frog and keep the purple yarn, too nice to give away and I’m sure you could find another pattern to use. The pink one why not make a cushion cover and use it in your office where you can see it most days?
Oh my, Amanda. Keep the cashmere/silk yarn. Keep the beautiful buttons, and keep the pink jumper you knitted when you were 19. It's a shame they don't fit, but everyone's body changes over the years. The charity shop will drool over those gorgeous knits and the new owners will wear them with pride, and know how lucky they are to have such beautiful garments.
Thank you. You are right to suggest that i keep the special things and rehome the rest. Our bodies change quite a bit over the years, but late 40s was such a drastic change for me!
I would frog the cashmere/silk Cardigan and use the yarn for something to wear now! 😻 Would your daughter be able to wear the knits you want to re-home? Or maybe someone you or she knows that they would fit?
Aw, it is a shame you have to part with so many of your pretty knits! I can also relate, as I agree that we can all change in size over the years, so our knitted garments may not always fit us! If I have not worn a garment, I either just rip them back and reuse the yarn, or I just put them in the bin if the yarn was inexpensive and not worth saving. I have never attempted to sell a past knitted garment or donated it to charity.
I've kept quite a few, but it's time to let go of the ones that don't fit and especially the ones that haven't been worn. I'm hoping someone else will love them and get lots of wear out of them x
They are all beautiful handknits. Yes definitely reuse the cardigan Yarm. I love your swan lake jumper, beautiful colour and pattern💜, what a shame you have never worn I. Have you thought about selling it? A friend of mine sells her old handknits on Vinted. You are a talented knitter 🥰x
Oh please repurpose that cashmere yarn - it would be so expensive to replace and there should be enough to make something you’d like to wear. Keep podcasting - I really enjoy watching you and your projects.

The flower is so cute. Love your Jethro too. The last two times I was in Scotland I brought home the Tunnock’s caramel wafers for family and friends. They are so good. I have not tried the cakes though. I’m in Michigan. It is difficult for me to pick a sweetie because I like so many but I am a big fan of Better Made Old Fashioned Red Licorice.
I love the colours of your cardigan I think they would make a lovely blanket. I am thinking of starting a quilt from the fat quarter shop as watching the video from the spooky one the instructions are very clear, however can you recommend a beginner one to start with? My favourite sweets are shertbert lemons, is this a British sweet?
We have Sherbet Lemons here and they are very tasty 😋 If you are looking for a simple block to start with, you could try making the 'Nine Patch' - it's a good way to practice joining your seams. You could also add in some 'Disappearing Nine Patch' if you are feeling a like more adventurous. 'Trip Around the World' is also a good technique - you work with strips of fabric and it's the way you cut up your sewn strips that makes a lovely patchwork piece.
I love the tunnocks yarn, I had to get some after seeing yours. I also got the irn-bru. Have been trying to find the caramel wafer colourway but no luck. My favourie sweeties are smarties and creme eggs. x
Smarties and Creme Eggs - both good choices 😋 You could email the dyer from 'For the Love of Yarn' - she'll be able to tell you when the Caramel Wafer colourway will be available.
I started watching this when it came out and just realized I never finished. So many great socks! Love the Jethro and blanket for your gd. The peony is so cute. Love the quilt squares.
