This is y i kinda like him better in the 2015 live action series better. Not from the 2010 movie, not from the Netflix adaptation. That light actually kinda loved misa and didn't completely lose his morals (until the solitary confinement)
This is going to be a strange thing to admit, but I first watched Death Note when I was in like 7th grade. (Im 19 now) My experience with women up to that point had been ridicule and bullying. The one girl I ever confessed love to in Elementary School laughed in my face and gave me shit for it all the way from that point up until High School graduation. As a result, I had a rather stark distrust for women, which made me distrust Misa. I always had thoughts while watching like "she'll betray you Light, don't trust her" and "I wonder when the sudden but inevitable betrayal will occur". I kinda wanna rewatch Death Note or read the Manga version. I bet if I did, my perception of Misa as a character would be much different. Obviously she's a very unhealthy codependent person, but I don't think she's worthy of judgement thats too harsh considering just how hurt she is on the inside. She's legitimately the type of person that would receive a very light sentence in court alongside extensive mandatory therapy both during and after her sentence.
but did they really have to restrain Misa like that... I know its an anime but stuff like that isn't really the purpose of an anime like death note... its just so gross
Ya know, if Saiki didn't detest social interaction in general and didn't care about not hurting the people around him, I could see him finding someone JUST tolerable enough that he could work out a deal for them to be his fake lover just to keep the romantic advances of others off his back. But that'd lead to some hurt feelings, would be way too troublesome, and it'd be difficult to find someone willing to do, so it's perfectly in-character why he doesn't consider that a viable solution.
I like the irony between light and misa during the ending. Misa made the eye deal, making the viewer believe she will die eventually. Yet she survived instead and light died, who never made the eye deal.
bruh i’m sorry but misa literally blackmailed and manipulated light into dating her and while i agree that he was unnecessarily rude to her at many points, she literally said to him that she didn’t care if all he does is use her, and now people are upset when he did just that??
Can't ace people imagine there are straight people who aren't obsessed with sex or romance? Just because you're not obsessed with sex or aren't interested in a girl's advances, that doesn't mean you're ace.
Misa is pitiful. I know that she has been very badly damaged psychologically by the murder of her parents and that she was almost murdered by an excessive fan, but her desire to be loved and protected is so strong that she has no dignity or self-respect.
As for Sam, I turn to you because I know your love for her is boundless As for Sam, he's not ready to go. And as for Sam, we don't have much in common.
I actually think their pairing is perfect, Light is selfish, ruthless and wholly dedicated to his goals, incapable of love but he’d only one man. Despite the fact that he may not say so, he’s incapable of accomplishing his goals alone, as a large segment of the anime revolves around how the public views Kira and the assistance they grant him and of course, his using of Misa to complete his goals. Misa, however, does not necessarily possess morals either though. Misa is seen several times being extremely willing or even actively writing people’s names in the DN, she’d even do it on command from Light and she said she’d write the name of another girl in the DN if she saw him going on a date with one. Essentially, Misa would do absolutely whatever Light wanted, without consideration for whom she might hurt. This is all because she enjoys pleasing Light and the feeling that he gives her. She is absolutely love struck and obsessive, even before she actually met Kira (Light), she was already willing to write names in the DNA, before she even met Kira. This is like a stan of a celebrity, someone who’s willing to go to extreme ends to meet her celebrity crush. One could argue that Miss is an addict to the way Light treats her, there are some people like this. Essentially, Misa may actually need Light to treat her like he does, that creates a constant stimulation for her and requires her to constantly pursue Light’s love and affection. This also helps create the feeling that Light is the unknowable God that she views him as. This is an increasing expectation throughout the anime, the more people begin to view Kira and, in-turn, Light as a God, the more pressure he will feel to meet those expectations. Something he’s actually faced much of his life, given his position in school, being seen as popular, attractive, intelligent and even athletics. Everyone else has essentially elevated Light to a Godlike status, before the anime even starts this is true, but this also means he has an immense pressure exerted on him, wherein, everybody expects these things of him. This makes it nearly impossible for him to maintain a consistent friend group or girlfriend, as he needs to be flawless 24/7 and upon contemplation, having a bad friend group or an embarrassing relationship could drastically affect his social standing. Remember, in Japan, Idol culture is quite intense, much like Korea, fans of an idol might begin to despise their Idol if they begin to date someone. Part of the social status of Light is his unattainability, the fact he seems so far out of reach; which will only make him more desirable. I’m sure that originally, Light probably got a sort of high from his own social standing, everyone’s praises elevating him higher and higher. However, all highs eventually create a tolerance, once this is reached it creates boredom; thus, taking risks with his status or general risks might begin to sound alluring. When Light started in the anime, all this becomes very apparent with his attitude and how others act around him. He makes it know in many cases that he doesn’t really hate people, if anything, he loves the hard-working, honest and law abiding people. At the very least, Light loves their praises. So he sets out with a clear goal in mind, to become a benevolent ruler whom creates a utopia in his image. He believes he’s right to do this, as the people have already elevated him to such a high social status and he believes that to mean that they’ve done right for doing so. Light’s motives aren’t entirely selfish, if they were he’d simply be targeting people whom stop him from ascending in wealth or status. He genuinely saw himself as the arbiter of justice and that he was a good person; so it’s not difficult to see how his ego took over and he saw anybody trying to stop him as evil. In a sense, Light and Misa are codependent, Light needs a follower whom will obey without question and constantly reaffirm him that he’s good. Whilst, Misa is desperate for approval and affection, is largely submissive and likely feels that she deserves punishment as she likely feels worthless and weak for not being able to save her own family or herself. This included the part where the other Shinigami saved her from her own stalker stan. Thus, they enable each other and provide what the other is looking for in one way or another. Don’t forget, Light also treated another one of his fans like a pawn towards the end. By the midway point, when Light relinquished the DN to the business executives, this was probably the most evil thing he did. As he knew that this would likely lead to opportunistic or advantageous uses of the DN that were all for greed or personal advancement. Essentially, this is someone he’d likely view as worthy of punishment by the DN in the beginning of the anime.
