Aro or aromantic is a person who may never develop a crush on a person, or envision themselves entering a romantic relationship with someone. Ace or Asexuality is a person who has no sexual feelings or desires.
Funny story, I was watching this show with my cousin at my grandma's house once and she walked in at the part where Teruhashi was coming up with increasingly elaborate reasons why Saiki was ignoring her and my grandma just yelled "LADY, HE'S GAY" and left. Still makes me giggle.
Saiki, the main character of a romance anime, knows he's in a romance anime and is actively avoiding being in a romance anime so much that It's actually a slice of life.
As an aro/ace person myself I'm generally skeptical when it comes to representation since most characters who could be considered aro/ace tend to be written poorly, be some kind of stereotype, have their "humanity" and "happiness" questioned etc. I haven't watched the anime but from what I've seen i really like the way this was handled! It didn't makes the aro/ace character feel crazy, but rather showed how crazy allo people often come across with how romance is everywhere!
My username may be what it is, but I'm also still demiromantic and demisexual and therefore not allo. Anyway, yess it's great. It's completely accepted and while he may find these people annoying, he still cares for them platonically and wishes the best for them. I think it's well done.
Sikki is doesn’t barely tolerate people because he’s aroace, he aroace because he barely tolerates people. If his powers weren’t passive abilities but active abilities he’d possibly have a different sexual preference than coffee jelly.
And then showed Toritsuka as himself JUST to avoid saying “Oh wow.” I love this man so much.. he gets how I feel about the weirdness of people, love, and emotions overall.
Saiki's a literal king. At first glance, he seems rude and conceited, but he's incredibly kind and polite. Even though most (okay, more like *all*) other characters annoy him, he actually takes time and makes world-chaning decisions to make sure they're okay. A random thing: I've never heard the dub before, and some of the voices are perfect lol
I like how he doesn’t even hurt anyone, whether mentally or physically. He still made the papers fly back into Yumehara’s arms, which is the definition of “Professionals have standards!”
I like Saiki so much because he’s so sassy and petty. Like he dislikes the attention of Tarahasui, and he knows that if he just acknowledges her existence then she’ll probably go away. But he won’t do it out of sheer pride and pettiness. He’s a king for that.
Saiki might be aro-ace, but you gotta give the guy credit that even though these girls are throwing themselves onto him, he's considerate enough to not just leave them in terrible positions; ex. not letting the girl just fall on her face with her papers while avoiding her. Edit: Upon further watching, dude's very VERY nice. He's willing to change the entire world just so one person can have a part time job. One of the girls that liked him were just going to throw his gifted chocolates away when she was down in the dumps, but he secretly nabbed them. He could easily just left the world go to shambles, but he doesn't. Saiki is a king, a king we should stan.
Yeah it's because Saiki's whole deal is acting like he doesn't really care about others and wants a normal life away from them, when the truth is he really cares about his friends. No matter how much he complains and acts like he won't, he always helps his friends or even strangers out when they need help because he cares about them. In other words, he's a tsundere (in the platonic sense).

Pretty sure that's not the case since it's mentioned that for his X-Ray vision to grow stronger, he has to keep his eyes open. And every time he blinks it resets.

I remember watching this anime for the first time and all I thought was "damn that guy is relatable" and at first I thought it was just because he was as introverted as me, but later on I realized that it's literally his entire personality btw the anime is called „the disastrous life of saiki k.“, also called „tdlosk“ or „saiki k“ for short

I like how he just kinda politely bowed at the beginning. And is just coming up with PLANS to not get with a girl. He doesn’t leave them in situations that leave them vulnerable he specifically makes it so that there isn’t a problem for anyone. I love that. And he’s literally so funny too
I think it’s very iconic how dedicated this man is to avoiding all romance no matter what. And he doesn’t change like other characters like “Omg I was in love this whole time” or whatever. I think it’s awesome how he stays true to not being interested at all throughout the entire show.
In the first episode he said that because of his psychic powers he finds it near impossible to feel surprise or have any enjoyment with literally anything (bar eating sweets) so maybe that has something to do with it?
I like the fact that Teruhashi is so used to everything going her way that the person she has a crush on walking in on her saying she has a crush on him and then apparently sleep walking is not something unusual and just happens naturally

To the people in the comments arguing against him being aroace, I get it. It's not confirmed and only implied through comedy. But it's not right to invalidate a sexuality like that. Many of you do realize that alot of his interactions are relatable on a higher level than anyone non-ace can understand? And also, many characters in media have fans who assume their sexuality. Its all in good fun, and not to mention circulates representation to people who don't know what sexuality is or how it works. Also, the asexual community gets little to no representation! I can only count on one hand how many asexual characters I know, and only one of them is confirmed asexual. That's sad, seriously. Also, I'm not saying you're being phobic or a terrible person, that's not my message. I'm saying that you're not looking at this from the bigger picture, or atleast in the shoes of an asexual/aroace. Side note, I'm sorry I wrote an essay in the comments, it's just something that needed to be said. But I will say if you're arguing against my comment for some reason even though I'm not suggesting what I'm saying is 100% facts, you may or may not actually be phobic. You might want to check your values because I'm not entirely arguing against you, because from that point you just have a problem with aces existing.
Saiki doesn’t feel romantic or sexual attraction which is, by definition, aroace. I’m completely fine with people headcanoning him as another sexuality or as Demi (which could by all means be possible), but I also appreciate someone in media not being crazy about romance, because a character like that isn’t common. In short, let some aroace people claim Saiki as one of their own!

The fact that saiki is a god is preventing him from realizing that he is a god and can grant anyones wishes but his own. He can always just tell their mind to leave him alone using telepathy.

spoilers for the last episode of season 3: even after he loses his psychic powers for a while, he still couldn't fall for teruhashi. yes, he could finally see the appeal, but he just thought "she's fairly pretty" or sth so yeah, he ould STILL not fall in love, and not because of his psychic powers :)
@@NPCCompany he explicitly expressed that he doesn't understand romance (and sexual attraction) in general. the only time he showed interest WAS with sato and sure you can interpret that as romantic if you want but that doesn't negate the above statement. also you can be gay and aroace :) it's a spectrum. i'm gay aroace myself.
I know that it won't happen because it's a comedy, and probably plot reasons, but why can't saiki just said he's not interested? Wouldn't they leave him alone?
The dude literally went transparent, undid a storm, brought a damn child to an amusement park date, flipped and reverted time to to not bump into someone, and hung off the edge of a window to avoid a woman, I’m pretty sure him saying no would barely do anything and if anything make them fiend him even more
@@browserjunior4707 hes stated that if he had said "offu" to her from the very start then none of her advances wouldve happened but he states he is too prideful to do so. also remember, he's known his friends for like over 6 time loops bc of the volcano eruption he has to restart every time, so its suspicious that all he has to do is say offu to her to get it over with instead of having to deal with her in every loop. shows how conceited he is at times lmaoo
I respect how well the dub goes with it. They didn’t have to create words that fit to how the lips are moving like other animes. Instead since he doesn’t even move his mouth it’s so easy to dub the anime as close as possible to the original
