He's so fit right now. Having Eldo helps. Bart said he's going to Nats in 2 weeks...so good luck to him! I hope he takes it. Definitely the fastest 60+ sprinter in the country I think
That was a very interesting line through that uphill turn. I've watched a couple of times and can't figure out why the entry and exit were both so shallow on the front.
@@jgrefrath yeah we were following Giles. I was hoping I could get past him, but I didn’t quite make it. He took us into the sidewalk and then sat up. We were screwed at that point.
Thanks! It was pretty safe all race until then when it counted most...and I had downshifted to small ring every lap in my 40 up front until that lap...I planned on just going all in in my 54/15.....so having to brake sort of left me way overgeared and I was screwed as was Bart on my wheel....eeesh
That course looks like a lot of fun! If the entry numbers for the younger guys are high, I bet it's next to impossible to move up if you miss windows. Another great ride by you, dude!
Sand City is a city in Monterey County, California, United States, located on the shores of Monterey Bay, and surrounded on most sides by the larger city of Seaside.
Without Steve Reaney there things open up a lot for everyone. Damn if you were closer to the front to start that last lap, that ending could have been yours! More great racing out there! One of my favorite courses for sure.
An abundance of swerving for the hell of it, changing lines without regard for consequence, and oblivious chopping happened in this race. Very happy for Oktay and Evoke for the podium! Brilliant late move was timed and executed perfectly. Thank you for recording the knife fight that this was!
Yeah, there was definitely some sketchy riding! Wait till you see the P1/2 race...now that was nuts...I made the mistake of trying to get up in the sprint for that one too
I record in 1080, but you might be right...I'll check the settings before I export next time. Thanks for letting me know. I'm still getting used to the Telemetry overlay program, although sometimes youtube posts the videos about 30 minutes prior to processing to HD, so check it now, hopefully it looks better
Exactly, that curve to the left and the dude in blue drifting right kind of screwed me....but....the guy that held me off was a 40+ so since I was a 50 and the other 2 fifties were up the road, the best I could do was 3rd, so it wasn't worth the risk:)
This was the 50-54, 55-59 SoCal State champs Cat 1,2,3. Combined field, picked separately, so Charon Smith won the 50+ and my teammate Bart won the 55+
The reason to organize and ride even though we had a two on one situation up the road is in case the WHS rider attacks them from a ways out (it was Adam White who is very very strong) we have a better chance to bring it back, and also to set ourselves up for the field sprint.
@@shaunb93291 those who know, truly know it's hard to beat Reaney. Smart for you to take control of that ending early just to make sure you had control of things for Bart.
