Thanks for the video of the finish! I'm one of the 60+ old guys, but I stayed out of the way in the back, dealing with that mess! They couldn't take the hairpin at all, such a shame. But I started moving up just as the second crash happened just in front of me, barely survived. Both crashes were guys touching wheels. I barely survived Bariani too! And then they said I didn't finish, that's just terrible. I'll follow your vid's, I was racing with you young guys just last year ;)
Thanks! I didn't mean to throw shade on anyone, it was more if just a fact.....it happens in every age group....people in way over their heads try getting to the front, only to get spit immediately out the back as soon as the sprint starts. If you see my RR finish, you'll see the Audi rider fighting me for Sean Smith's wheel leading into the last 400 meters....instead of shouldering him out of the way like I wanted to, I let him in and as soon as we turned the corner for the sprint(it would have been different had we been sprinting for the win vs 5th place), he sits up and gaps me off....I had to dump a lot of power to close the gap and finished 7th instead of a possible 5th.

That course creates those crazy conditions too. The backside of the course is really wide and has a headwind. The pack swells, then shrinks, then guys dive bomb the chicane from 40th position. Lots of chances for crashes due to the irregular pack dynamics.
Nice Job Shaun 👍… We all know they can only fit so many Races in a day (Bummer about the Crash)…But Yes combining Fields always makes it “Tuff”… And if you’re in the “Older” Category… You might Win, but you’re somewhere in the Pack… And we all know there’s nothing like being able to Post Up as you come across the Finishing Line First 🤔👍🚴♂️🚴♀️🚴♂️🚴♀️
Very true, I don't mind racing together....just occasionally the clogstacles get in the way...but that happens in any age group...it's a part of racing
If I could respectfully ask one request from you next time....please don't fight me for a wheel going into a sprint like the RR and then sit up....just slot in behind me.....you know I'm gonna sprint and I give a great draft....you kind of fucked me for 5th. I'm not mad....it's 5th...but just the principle. Does that make sense? Have you watched the RR vid?
