Hey man awsome video. Just got a 6094 i dont have soft armor only level 4 hard plates. I feel obligated to get the backers now. Should i feel werid that i dont have them? Does lbt ssy you dont have to use them? Thanks
I couldn't help myself I just ordered level 3A soft plates in shooters cut. My hard plates are SAPI cut. LBT website says 6094 will accept shooter cut too but what are your thoughts on my hard playes being a different cut than my soft plates as backers? Thanks
Arbor Arms SALT belt, specifically the unpadded version. I have the padded one too, but it didn't do much for comfort and just added bulk so I switched.
I have RMA 1155mc plates in my v5. It did indeed take some finess and thought to get them in. And i had to cleverly trim and taper the edges of my foam backers. I just use 3/8" eva foam. The 1155's definitely push the plate bags to the limit though and if i weren't fairly decent with sewing I'd be concerned about prolonged hard use breaking a thread here and there on the tweave middle section. Also had to cut and relocate the hook panel on the rear plate bag further back on the shoulder strap and trim a couple inches of excess strap to even get near a proper fit. Have the Beez pads on the straps as well. I use an AXL equinox cummerbund and it works pretty well. Now that's its all tailored and set, it's quite nice. But it did take more effort than i think it should for the price.
Personally, I recommend the Warrior Assault DCS plate carrier over the JPC. The reasons is it has mesh padding for comfort and breathability, being NIR Compliant, good quality from our friends across the pond of the UK, and comes with side pouches and radio pouch
Really appreciate the actual in depth explanation of these and how they work there much more of analytical analysis of these and then your opinions rather than someone trying to sell me on something.
I'm glad I found this video before cryeing once. For the past few weeks I had been searching for a new plate carrier to replace my poor choices when I bought most of my civilian gear from what was available and with my low budget circa 2010 (condor garbage). It came down to the JPC 2.0 and the FCPC v5 and I chose the fcpc. I'll be reading your articles for sure now. Glad I found your channel as your opinions make a fuck ton of sense with data to back it up.
Great review man. This has to be one of strangest carriers on the market. I keep wanting to upgrade my Mayflower APC, but just keep going back to it after looking at everything on the market.
Thanks, I appreciate it. Honestly, it takes so damn long to get a carrier set up properly and get yourself comfortable in it, the first one you get often ends up being the one you stick with. Not actually a negative, because personal comfort is what really matters.
You are attaching the AVS front flap incorrectly. The straps need to be tucked inside the plate bag. There is a velcro hook field on the inside. this way the cummerband has no chance to pull the starps off, when doffing.
30:41 - this is exactly why I hate any carrier that uses JPC style shoulder straps and cordura laminate - DAG Spitfire has exactly the same issue. Had to get rid of mine. Not sure about the SPC tho, but I have never had that happen with hypalon shoulder straps. They just run flat against the body even if they attach from the front. Running them from behind the plate bag (and not front) would help, but then it sometimes creates this weird angle up top with the plate bag being pushed away from the upper chest area (the lower they are attached to the plate bag, the worse it gets). Quite apparent from the side view. Either way, using the the cordura laminate is in my opinion not the smartest choice as it degrades pretty fast and frays like crazy. I have seen the same happen with the Spitfire and SPC.
No one in the industry knows how to make a decent plate carrier these days that fit rights for the average Joe. The old LBT 6094 is a gem that fits right and does it job. I wanted to get a v2 for the sake of modernization and because of its placard capabilities until I found out about the small 3/4 inch clips.😒 I'm not even sure why LBT made the switch to laser cut. It is shit. Within a year the laser cut molle will lose its rigidity and will look like a loose pussy. If it aint broken, don't fix it.
I just mine today LBX-0300-M Woodland and i love it but there are things i dont like about it. carrier way too long i put in my ar500 A1 10×12 plates and the carrier is 2 1/2 inch too long which is i wont be able to use my side-pull mag pouch and the velcro hook flap to hold the plate is small feels like the plate will fall
Can't say that's anything I've run into with any carrier yet, the straps are usually stiff enough and the slots are narrow enough without an angle to force them into a corner.
Shoulder straps on mine never bunched up inside the ring. These do not have d-ring on the front plate bag like the scarab does, if thats what youre referring to. The ring on the back plate bag is very form fitting and doesn't leave room for the straps to articulate/twist/bunch/fold much, at least not something I can see happening during normal use. Maybe if you deliberately tried to fold them over. Just my 0.02
Just wanted to say, I just bought one of these, and the cumberbund and back plate bag are different. They Velcro like other carriers. I’m happy it came in like that, as I watched your video prior to buying
Just saw your video and it’s super informative. I just bought a G3 from LBT and a 2649 click in assault pack. Is it possible to attach both together? I would appreciate any info. Thank You.
Thanks! So the 2649 is meant to replace the straps on a specific chest rig, and it might work with other LBT chest rigs as well. The one that directly attaches to MOLLE is the 9039.
A ton of the problems you have with the carrier are because you’re too small for the medium carrier. Why do you think it hangs low? I got mine to hang correct. Also a plate carrier hanging lower has no purpose. It’s not easier to jump in. It’s called a jumpable plate carrier because of its low profile. You’re just simply too small for the medium. That’s it. You complain it’s bad because it fits too big and loose. That’s because…. It’s too big for you 😂
Yes, and unlike other carriers on the market, it has a more specific size that it's built around fitting, and since Medium is similar to the common (and cheap) 10x12 plates, it's something to consider versus it being an automatic choice. I like the small JPC, which did fit well, but if you don't have CIF to trade plate sizes out at, checking those sizes can get expensive and slow.
@@nicothenodgoblin9117 it can fit the same plates any other medium plate carrier can. Even a small 2.0 can fit a 10x12 with some time. The carrier is fine. You just refused to adjust it to you properly. It’s not a niche carrier. It’s one of the most versatile plate carriers in existence. Your video made 0 sense
@@nicothenodgoblin9117 I don't understand Amercians who run small plates which do not protect shit, bare minimum are 10x12 but they are very small too, shots come from angles too
@@simonriley8057 plates are made to fit a specific area of the torso but a lot of people are convinced they are special and that their torso will somehow conform itself to the plate's shape and coverage and it'll 100% work if they need it to.
Beez has been pretty good in my experience , being one of the only places that offers a legit MJK/Eagle Khaki option for most of their products. However on multiple occasions their platebags have been oversized for the plate size options selected leading to a lot of slop when worn.
Read your instructions ! You have to adjust the straps! You roll the strap covers back underneath the covers are Velcro tabs ! Your an idiot ! Stop passing on bad knowledge! It’s fully adjustable!
That was a complaint I had about a year or so ago when I had mine. A floating cummerbund in an unlined channel is an insane move especially when every other competitor’s carrier’s cummerbund is secured to the rear platebag in some manner. Glad to hear it got fixed but that should’ve been a revision that got made before the G3 V1 even came out
You were talking about the design elements that are similar between the Ferro and the LBT 6094. This honestly doesn't surprise me as Ferro got there start making AOR1 replica 6094 plate carriers for Airsofters. I am sure during this period they realized the good, bad, and ugly of the 6094s and took the good into account when going on to make their own designs. Ferro Concepts is one of those success stories that I think is pretty cool over all.
Fantastic video as always Nico. I was considering a JPC as a backup plate carrier because everyone recommended (told) me so. This video definitely was definitely an eye opener. I'm around the same build and height as you so the JPC 2.0 is most definitely going to hang low for me. The straps will likely be off my shoulders as well since I have lost weight and I'm on the skinny side. Most tact kit companies cater plate carriers, chest rigs and uniforms based off individuals who are 6'1, stocky and superman build. I had the same problem with the Platatac Peacekeeper mk4 chest rig. The straps was position and angled wider than the front (flaring out). As a result it looks like I'm wearing a double size too big bra/corset with the adjustment tightened to its fullest. Maybe I will try my luck with Spiritus systems. I have heard the lv119 fits perfect with skinny and average dudes.
So while the LV119 doesn't have the stanced shoulder straps issue that the JPC does, I've always found that it fits like an IOTV, without the soft armor that forces the IOTV to fit that way. I'll get to it eventually, possibly maybe- look at my production rate lol- but it's definitely another one with some issues. That said, it's an incredibly well thought out carrier with great quality and fantastic internal features like cable routing etc, but if you're not using them, that's sort of irrelevant.
@@nicothenodgoblin9117 I hate LV119, shoulder straps are awfully designed, inner part pushes against my neck and on the clavicles, I carry a lot on my JPC and it's the most comfortable carrier I have ever worn
So, just looking at you wearing the medium JPC 2.0 I can tell right away you do not have your shoulder straps adjusted properly. I am pretty small build but have a 2.0 in medium and it fits perfectly. I did have to adjust the shoulder straps substantially, but it has plenty of clearance for me to draw from my belt
I could probably tighten it down some more, but I try to keep the adjustment within the limits of the included parts- no cutting and melting ends, and, for this one, no folding the triangles under the included shoulder wraps. You can do it, obviously, but I'm trying to look at the design instead of the mods and ways people make it work. Especially remembering back when everything was "one-size-fits-all" meaning extra-large, I'm cranky about it, hah.
U got any pics of u wearing? Just so i can compare to mine. I feel like mines a lil low in the rear. Plus j feel like the shoulders take up too much room for my buttstock had to swap my b5 for a magpul sl-m
Sorry for being so late to the party, but I have a question. How do RMA 1155s fit in the LBT 6094A (medium)? I heard conflicting things, mainly because of the 1155s’ thickness. Thanks in advance!
So I've got the 6094A, of course, and a set of the 1155MC. They fit *easily*, not even close to having issues fitting. Generally speaking, the 6094 is a much older design philosophy of plate carrier, made for extensive soft armor backing, with what's called a "plate lifter" strap instead of the more modern close fitting design. The downside is that it's a lot bulkier than modern carriers, to the point that you can shove a thinner SAPI Large plate into it. The trouble with the RMA 1155's is that they've got a pretty wide spread of thickness, if I recall correctly they give an eighth of an inch tolerance either way.
@@nicothenodgoblin9117 Thanks a lot for the input! My only previous body armor experience was with the issued iotv (last worn in 2012), and I’ve seen guys wear 6094s and Mayflower APCs (among others). So, I am familiar with the fairly “outdated” design for the most part. I currently run 1155s in a LBX 0300 L (size based off of internet info 🤦♂️) with an LBT 6094 cummerbund, swift slips, and a few other mods. They fit pretty good, but with the plates hiked all the way up, there is about 3 or so inches of empty space in the bottom of the plate bag. And that’s been annoying the crap out of me, so I’ve been waiting for a sale to go down in size. With the Thanksgiving sales going on, I’m planning to either get a LBT6094A, or a S/M APC (with possibly a Ferro Adapt cummerbund for some stiffness). So, I have one more question… HEIGHT wise, which of the two do the 1155s fill better? The 6094 or the APC? Lol, with all the choices out there, it still came down to the 6094 vs APC. I guess it’s familiarity and compatibility with the ton of pouches and hydration carriers I still have laying around. 🤷♂️ Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long winded essay you just had to read.
@@E4Shamurai Man have you seen how much I talk? I don't mind at all. I really need to actually finish editing this raw footage I have though... Yeah the "Large" description for 10x12 makes things difficult a lot, that comes up every couple of weeks in different discord servers. I actually don't know the APC well, so I honestly couldn't tell you much there. I remember the old IOTV, was wearing one around then too lol. The newer ones actually seem pretty nice, at least for what they are.
@@nicothenodgoblin9117 lol, I definitely do not miss the iotv. Yeah, I’m leaning towards the 6094a, since lbt is having their 50% off sale as we speak. But then again, for pretty much the same price, I could get an APC and a Ferro Adapt c-bund (Ferro is on rotation today for their Black Friday sale) and run that. Im thinking that setup would work… 🤷♂️ Really torn.
