I'm a "Thit" which in Isan dialect is what they call a monk who has served, been through the "Seuk" ceremony and has returned to being a layman. Thanks for watching and commenting!
We are looking at the Seka area near Bueng Kan we Breed Betta “Plakat” there are some very good collecting sites in that area. Being rural we can rent a home on a few Rai and set up a small fish farm and export back to the states.
Amazing Thai language teacher "Khru Khim" lives in Seka, Bueng Kan. I've never been but she likes it a lot and it's on my list of places to visit so I'll probably check it out in the next couple months. Keep us posted on your fish business!
Another excellent video brother thank you for sharing your experiences. I’m 7 years from retirement and can’t wait to be able to spend half the year in Thailand. Till then I’ll keep working on my Thai lessons and enjoying your videos till we can get back for a short visit next year.
So glad you're enjoying the videos, thanks for sticking with us! I try to subtly work Thai language & culture into each one so I hope it's helpful. Do you know where you'll stay in Thailand?
We went through Mukdahan going from That Phanom to Korat last year. Stopped at the tower but the elevator was broken so didn’t go up. Went up Roi Et tower though.
Wow, sounds like you have experience off the beaten path, that's fantastic! Next time you pass through the Mook check out Phu Pha Toep and the giant Buddha.
I recorded the Thai Pin (3 string guitar) in Roi Et province as the player was marching down the street during a holiday parade, that guy is killer! Thanks for noticing!
Thanks! The first song was recorded in my condo with my teacher playing the Thai 3 stringed guitar and the second song I threw together with Apple Loops.
Everything is suffering, impermanence, and no self, •Suffering - all living beings suffer in different ways, mental and physical suffering, mental suffering like stress, depression, worry, etc. and physical suffering like disease, skin or organs problems, wounds, etc... •Impermanence - nothing last forever except change, everything or everyone will die or will change, like people, house, plants, possession, gadgets, perspective etc... •No self - everything is made out of 4 elements, fire water earth air, example is the house, how to build a house? Need stone blocks, how to create stone blocks? Need some earth or dirt, combined with water, then shaping to blocks after that need heat to be cooked and steady then need air to make the blocks dry and finish product, and humans and other living beings too are created by the 4 elements, People have heat in their body to not get cold, and water like blood, and air to breath, and earth is the physical form of humans and other organisms (living beings), Humans are just like cars, humans have organs, 6 senses, hormones, chemical reactions to the brain and the nature of mind, nature of the mind is greedy for sensual pleasure to the 5 senses, and car have engine, wheels, fuel, lights, windows, etc.. That's why humans are just like animals, humanity just invented sense of self, the sense of "me" "mine" "I'm this" "I'm that" but in reality all living beings are just an organism in the environment, So everything are just organism trying to survive everyday, name, labels is an illusion it's not real because truth is beyond words and beyond ordinary people and ordinary living beings understanding What do you think? What's your view on 3 marks of existence?
@@DagwoodsThailand namassagan and thank you for information 🙏🏼. when i look for wat nong song hong, it shows me samut sakhon. may i ask where in isaan? i lived in a temple in sakhon nakhon and i know isaan a bit (nong khai, khon kaen, mukdahan, sakhon, buriram)
According to the Buddha Being born as a Human is very rare opportunity to study the dharma and practice it to be free from mundane life of suffering Animal realm , ghost realm, hell realm, has so many suffering and can't practice what the Buddha taught And in heaven realm, it's too much pleasure, and it can develop attachment and living beings live their become delusional because they think it's permanent But humans just in middle path, just enough suffering to realize how worse is life is, and just enough right pleasure to practice the dharma And be liberated from suffering of existence What do you think?
My belief is that life is impermanent and we should follow MAJIMA (Pali language version) or "The Middle Path" between extremes. In Thai, MAJIMA is ว่าง or "WAHNG"and you will sometimes see that word on signs within temple grounds in Thailand. Thank you for your thoughtful comments. 🙏🙏🙏
The outro is so nicely done and funny 😅 Is the reverb guitar sorta like their national instrument? Because I hear it everywhere even in their rural villages in festivals, etc
It's called a Phin (pronounced "pin") and it is a 3 stringed guitar representative of Thailand's northeast or ISAN. I recorded that song when I lived in Bangkok but my buddy played phin on that recording. I used to play but not well.
They put fine sand, with those inverted domes, around the Kutis in order for the ants get stuck and not go inside. Ants are the biggest nightmare for jungle monks because once they form a line they get EVERYWHERE in the Kuti and it's super hard to get them off because you are not allowed to kill them.
When I stayed in a Thai Wat to become a monk for some time, as a westerner one the the things I was confused about was the Thai food because I've never seen their dishes so I just picked the rice and fruits 😆 What do you think are the most 'acessible' Thai dishes for a farang to get familiar with ?
Depends on the individual but I'd say most westerners can easily adapt to sticky rice, BBQ chicken & pork, raw or boiled vegetables, fresh fruit and virtually all of the desserts. Give the more exotic foods a try, you may be surprised. Of course the goal is nutrition so you cannot specify what you want to eat but you can choose from what is available.
I appreciate you're asking questions though I don't understand your meaning. I obviously know what km are but I don't know what "flic" is in your context. What language is flic? In English "flic" is a dimmable light switch and I do not own those type of light switches, is it an acronym? Thanks for watching! 🙏
Thank you for asking! I use Vipassana style to meditate every morning after waking and then brushing my teeth. The length of time changes every day because sometimes I'm quick to slip into nothingness and sometimes it's more difficult if something is distracting me. I also meditate while walking every night after the sun goes down which is not as effective but still helpful. Keep up with your meditation, it's important to train your mind. Thanks for watching! 🙏🙏🙏
Cool info, thanks! In Thailand I own a Toyota Hilux but in USA I own a Nissan Frontier. IMO the Nissan is a better looking vehicle. Navaras are also made in Spain and there are very few differences, I think one of them is the number of bolts on the hubcaps. Navaras built in Spain have “VSK” ” in the Vin# of the vehicle. The vehicles that are built in Thailand have “MNT” in the Vin#. This murdered out Navara that I saw in the mall is beautiful and the cost brand new is less than US $20,000. Crazy.
Every temple is different and duties depend on time of year, location, festivals, and many other factors. My videos offer merely a glimpse. ขอบคุณที่รับชม
