With a reenlistment bonus in the US Marine Corps, I purchased a brand new Firethorn (color), 1976 Camaro, right off the showroom floor for approximately $4,200.00. Those days are long gone!
@@lmcollins_54 thanks for the comments. That’s the original casting for the monument in Arlington. It was gifted to the Marine Military Academy in my hometown of Harlingen, Texas. We take a lot of pride in it. Funny you mention your $4200 second gen Camaro purchase. My buddy from Michigan was just here purchasing a 81 second gen Camaro from another buddy of mine. Sales price was $32,000. Times have definitely changed.
@@steveboyd3377 totally agree, I’ve owned 4 over the past 38 years. Guys my age or older like to talk trash about them. They are slow…they rattle. I’ve owned 69 Camaros and guess what? They were slow too, they rattle and they’re rust buckets.
I had a 1987 with a 383 TPI that pushed 500HP. I had to also weld a special frame strengthening system along with a cross-bar for the two strut towers. Edelbrock made a TPI system that gave you up to 1000Hp back in the day. My dream version has variable suspension all around the car & All Wheel Drive.
@@floridamike2930 I worked the parts department at the local Ford dealership in the late 80s. Use to pickup and deliver parts to the chevy dealership often. Loved seeing these cars in the showroom.
Love it, congratulations on the build! I have a 85 Z28 I picked up and was going to go with a Vortec Head TPI conversion, now I am thinking of doing a LS2/T56 swap I have from an 06' GTO.
Absolutely agree with others saying there's shadiness going on to inflate prices. Similar inflation attempts are going on with other collectibles, including cards and games. I'm not a fan of "custom" builds anyway.
I own a 1985 and replaced the weak 305 engine for a 383 stroker engine and Man what power and performance from an excellent body of the iroc z28 camaro!!😡🚘💪👍
Damn I should start pulling old trucks out of the junkyard. Just because you have 1,000 hours and $90,000 into a project doesn’t mean you deserve to make money on it.
There's something fishy going on first 2 duster's sale for 159k & 90k now this 🤔 Ever heard about if it's to good to be true it probably is ? Both actions are trying inflate prices on cars that are not worth the price they're bring by a wide margin 🤔 Got me thinking
