Hi Brother. I tried to replace two panel lights, which use the same on / off switch. What happens is only the ones close to the on/ off switch turn off when the switch is in off position. Can you tell me what was wrong?
@RoscoReviews
@RoscoReviews 8 часов назад
It’s really hard to say without looking at it. My first thought would be a loose wire. The junction boxes on these can be pretty tight. So maybe something came loose when closing the box. Could be a bad panel, but I’ve actually never wired one up that didn’t work.

Lock was installed Upside Down, In US, We Have Pins at Top, Some Other Countries, Have Pins at the Bottom, Better at the Top, So if a Spring Fails, pin can drop to Shear Line.
@RoscoReviews
@RoscoReviews День назад
Yeah. I agree. Typically the pins are on the top. I would have installed this the other way if I had installed it. Unless this brand can’t flip around for some reason. I think some only go through the bolt piece one way and then the pins end up on whatever side that happens to be depending on which side of the door the handle is on.

Thank you! I'm a 71 year old woman and I just followed your instructions and replaced an old leaky faucet with the one you used in this demo. It was hard to get the old one off and I had to cut a water line and scrape out the hole to make it big enough for the new faucet, but I did it. My brother in law is a plumber and he stopped by after I finished to check it out - and he gave me a thumbs up. You really helped me out here. Thank you. And by the way, that is a REALLY nice faucet - well worth the money.

My ground wire fell out of the fixture in the ceiling while I was disconnecting the old light. Where was it connected to? It just has a hooked end...
@RoscoReviews
@RoscoReviews 2 дня назад
The power line coming into the junction box should have a ground wire in it. There should be a black (hot), white (neutral) and an uninsulated (ground). often times the ground is screwed to the back of the junction box if it’s a metal box. That would ground the whole fixture. If it’s a plastic box, then the ground should connect to either the ground wire of the fixture (if there is one) or to a metal screw or something metal about the fixture.

Did you replace that outlet w a GFCI?
@RoscoReviews
@RoscoReviews 2 дня назад
I believe the code here states that outlets near water sources need GFCI outlets, however the washing machine is an exception. I’m not really sure why. Either the washing machine doesn’t count as a water source, or since it’s behind the machine they don’t expect people to be using wet hands to plug things in it.
@arsenicjones9125
@arsenicjones9125 2 дня назад
@@RoscoReviews which NEC year are you on? NEC 210.8(A)(10) requires GFCI in laundry areas since the 2014 revision. I checked w the NFPA and they indicate only 1 state is so far behind that they’re not covered. The NFPA also states that that state is currently in process to update to the 2020 code. So all that in mind, I think you’re very likely incorrect here and need to change that outlet.
@RoscoReviews
@RoscoReviews 2 дня назад
You are probably right. I don’t own the property that this was located in. I just do the work that I’m told to. The property is older than 2014 so as far as code goes, it is probably currently grandfathered in to whatever it was at the time it was built unless you do major renovations that would require it to be brought up to current.

@RoscoReviews
@RoscoReviews 13 дней назад
The freezer regularly defrosts itself and drains the water down a tube in the back wall. The tube can get frozen and clogged not allowing the water to drain properly. By leaving the fridge off for a day with the doors open it allows the tube to thaw out so it can drain water again.

Or just take a pot of hot water, and pour it in in about 30 seconds (be sure to unplug first). Of course, none of these will fix the problem I had - which was a legitimate clog in the middle of the drain hose (no ice). After several hours trying to get everything from a Zip-It, a clothes hanger, and a wire fish tool into the stiff pipe, I finally took my extra long 36” pipe cleaner (from my homebrew kit), chucked it in my drill, and ran it through from both sides. The tube was so tight it literally bound several times and let the drill twist the cleaner till it snapped, but I was finally able to get it to run smoothly enough to get the drain clear!! I had to toss the pipe cleaner and get a new one for my home brewing stuff, but worth it to not have puddles on the floor all the time :) Just leaving this here for anyone who is having the same problem I had - I hope it’s just ice for all of you, though, as that was a pain in the a$$!
@RoscoReviews
@RoscoReviews 13 дней назад
yeah, that is a chore. I have only had one get clogged once that wasn't just ice. Somehow someone got a piece of corn in there. I don't even know how they did that. lol I used a Co2 cartridge air gun thing that I use to clear out air conditioner condensation lines. and it shot the clog out.
@Sylvan_dB
@Sylvan_dB 14 дней назад
Just did that a couple of weeks ago! The hardest part was deciding the style - the one you used with the second basket, or the one with just the simple large nut. I did the large nut. It was cheaper and I didn't see any advantage to that big basket hiding leaks like the previous one. (hidden leak probably from the original install, sometimes water in the sink cabinet, then one day the second basket fell apart - all rusted out.)
@RoscoReviews
@RoscoReviews 14 дней назад
Interesting. I’ve used both, but I haven’t had an issue with one leaking into the cup part. I suppose that is something to consider. I have done a lot more of them with the large nut. The only problem with those is they can be a little bit tricky to tighten if you don’t have a spanner wrench.

It didn’t look like the washer drain tube went in the recessed valve box. Can I adapt my hot and cold washer valves which stick out into my laundry room wall 2.5 inches? Can I adapt them to fit inside a recessed box that is level with the wall, even though the washer drain pipe is not on that same wall? The idea being that I need the extra 2.5 inches of wall space.
@RoscoReviews
@RoscoReviews 21 день назад
It may be tough to see in the video, but the drain tube for this washer is in the recessed box with the valves. It hard to answer how to adapt your setup without looking at it, but if you have a recessed box and the valves still stick out a couple of inches, I would think you could change that. However it may mean cutting into the wall to change how the pipe comes into the box.

@RoscoReviews 21 день назад
Unfortunately, if the screw is rusted, stuck, or stripped out where you cant remove it. If it were me, the next step would be to drill it out. or at least drill off the head of the screw so you can get the light out. then you might be able to get ahold of what's left with some vice grips. The downside is, in order to drill it, you would have to drain the pool down far enough to get a drill to it.
