I’ve often wondered why people claim they were so affected by Primes’s death, & it really didn’t bother me at all, because he just never resonated with me like that. Honestly, I was more bothered by Prowl dying the way he did, as I always really liked him & had his toy. But now I’m starting to wonder if it was because I was 13 when this came out. And perhaps I was starting to age out when it came to cartoons. I wonder how old most of the people commenting were when this came out. I still watched it on tv until it ended, but I dunno. Maybe if I were a few years younger, I would’ve been more affected by his death?? I was only a year away from high school, so I suppose I was at the end of that period of my life, and I bet most of the people here were probably more in the 8-12 range. But I could be wrong…
There’s a whole script between starscream and megatron before he tosses him out. Not sure if the original script is still up somewhere but I remember hearing about it online somewhere

For all of the people that love to jump on the “this was just a toy commercial” bandwagon, you do realize…this is a CARTOON, right? Not a documentary, not a dramatization, a FREAKING CARTOON!! Aimed at CHILDREN!! What do you want??’!! I’m sorry, I just get so tired of people regurgitating the same takes, over and over…ok, as you were😂😂 One more thing; if it left you emotionally scarred because your favorite character was killed off, then that’s a problem. Did I hate that Prowl died? You better believe it. But somehow, I got over it. But I forgot how cool it sounds to say how scarred you were by characters from a cartoon being eliminated, so again, carry on.
This is superb! Just some observations on how you changed certain events: You changed Smokescreen for Wheeljack... deleted Redalert and Trailbraker's name from the storyboard images where they are clearly dead
As an adult, I love how viscerally this shows the horror of Unicron. Like, I always knew that the consumption of a live planet would be horrifying, but to have the music take a back-seat, the destruction and terror present and audible... It almost evokes the feelings of the digestion scene from NOPE, its genuinely unsettling, I love it.
It’s probably just me, but with the music and animation, the scene where the Decepticons are retreating makes this battle look even more serious and what you saw on the tv show. I mean, just look at Mixmaster and Thrust at 8:55; they look tired, maybe even shell shocked. At 8:32, you can see Thrust carrying Shrapnel and then Long Haul carry Kickback. The fact that Megatron had to call Soundwave for assistance since he is too wounded to move on his own says a lot imo.
In the original first writings of the movie, there were a lot of Decepticons that met their end during this battle. Including tons of generic decepticons
They went all out with the story here. If it was made in Japan, used the extended scenes and was less of a music video this movie would be up there with Akira but with way more rewatchability. But no way would American kids be ready to see a version like that back then.
@@CoriolanusQuince Americans controlled how it was made, obviously they used Japanese labor. I’m saying if this movie had no connection to America and given the japanimation treatment, back then they were making ultra violent cartoons with very deep stories. The Americans who wrote it made the script way more adult than any other American cartoons at the time that it gives it more of an anime feel. Would’ve been interesting to see that taken all the way anime. It would’ve been 30 years ahead of its time.
Good job on adding General the Western and Atlantic 4-4-0 Tender Engine, his Western and Atlantic Railroad Coach, and Baltimore and Ohio Caboose in this remake as Johnny, his mail car, and caboose from The Brave Engineer.
This is great! I wish more of Mike Ploog's storyboards were readily available. Some of these are so polished, they could be admired as standalone artworks. If only there was a website of all of his storyboards organized chronologically, instead of just the bits and pieces you can find online. I'd love to look through them all like a comic book. :)
Mirage is my favorite Autobot and the fact that he was storyboarded yet not shown is a shame. @15:43. Also glad to see why Bombshell wasn't one of the insecticons eating through the city defenses.
Fricken sweet! This would’ve actually fit very finely in a movie with the original ending, where everyone dies and Audrey II wins. If she’s going to lose, jumping right to the action makes sense. I was only able to watch the original ending once, it was so not the movie I’d watched my entire life.
No way this should bother me as much as it does, but the fact that Prime’s rifle doesn’t have the correct sounds as he’s finishing off the cons…troubling. Especially considering they were correct initially.

Several excellent close-ups of Autobots in this portion; Springer, Arcee, Hot Rod. Top notch depictions. And as badass as they are, I'd loved a full film with Prowl, Windcharger, Wheeljack, Sunstreaker, etc. all of whom getting equally good close-ups, dialogue, story line participation. And I don't mean that we shoulda got whole different movie instead, I mean like two films. Cuz this one is still good/great. The greedy part of me that would love for all these deleted scenes to be fleshed-out or completed is the same part that would still want that movie full of Optimus' cadre that landed on Earth. Cybertronians are a species there are many, many of them. One movie full of the 'old cats' that begins introductions & the another with the 'youngins' giving to the story as well. Mmm... fantasies about fantasies.... <shakes head> Good work on these compilations, they're great.
