I have decided to divide my channel from the year 1960 in two parts, International and German. I hope you will be faithful to me there too.
. Schade, dass sie verstorben ist. Aber sie hat ein schönes Alter erreicht. Mein Beileid natürlich trotzdem all ihren Angehörigen und Hinterbliebenen!❤❤❤
Ruhe in Frieden, liebe Caterina.
Frankie Laine was well known and loved in my part of Chicago. I was raised in "Chicago's Greek Town" (my uncle Nick knew him) literally across the street from "Little Italy". One late night in my 40-man open bay barrack, this song that we all sang together (along with my brand of persuasion), helped to diffuse a "race" riot among the troops I was in charge of (when the Drill Instructor was absent) as platoon guide-on during my Army basic training in August of 1964, Fort Knox, KY. My platoon was half 20-22-year-old National Guard "men" from a nearby state while the other half was 17-18-year -old mostly south and west side Chicago and Detroit neighborhood "boys". I was 17. Back then to us Regulars, the NG was just a dodge for politicians' sons and friends, truly slackers... BUT THIS SONG, "I BELIEVE" and also "You'll Never Walk Alone" that we all sang together, did bring us peace and an end to our "disharmony"; we had some great deep and mellow voices on both sides... We became one and actually graduated as the honor basic training platoon of our cycle!
