Oh wow! You sure have been on many cruises, and you only started in 2002. What made you start so late to start cruising? A detailed review. Great job. Keep up the good work.
That's what I call a thorough review. thanks for sharing! Question: How did you like the wide handle on the 26"? Is it easier to maneuver the luggage? When pulling, sideways pushing, etc.? Or actually a disadvantage? P.S. There is apparently a 30" available now! Still within the 158cm :)
That is exactly what I do because I do use a backpack. So the Voyageur carry-on works fine for me. I have been unable to get her to switch to a backpack.
No offense, but I couldn’t watch your whole video. It took you forever to get to your good review IF you ever did any. I gave you a thumbs up for just posting and your time.
I sailed on the Apex for a transatlantic in Nov of 2023. I will be taking the beyond for a Caribbean cruise for April of 2025. I loved the Apex and cant wait to try out the Beyond.
We just got off of the Carnival Vista and it was the best buffet food and outstanding Steaks at the Horizons restaurant. It was a great cruise and I was not a Carnival fan prior to this . I’ve been on Disney, Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Celebrity (worst food)
Used to live in Juneau. Best time to whale watch is probably early in the season or later. Later in the season the humpbacks are migrating down to Hawaii.
Thank you for such a thorough review. I think the older versions of the Voyageur have the shelf/divider in the main side but no compression straps. The newer versions removed the divider, added the compression straps, moved the wet pouch, and slightly different interior material. They are selling both versions now which are delivered at random depending on their inventory. I agree with you that the compression straps would be much more useful if they were attached lower in the case. I enjoyed watching your review.
Love your reviews. We are absolutely thinking of taking this cruise from Barcelona this August. We have been on many cruises, but this one looks different, unique. And, we do not like the main dining room either.
Janice, if you don't mind me asking, what is it about our reviews that you love? I want to make sure we keep doing it! Also, I think you will love Virgin!
Please share how your large, Level8 yellow suitcase is holding up. I’m on the fence of either a Briggs & Riley OR the Level8 for my large, checked suitcase (my poor Tami is 20 years old and is time to be replaced 😀)
So far, so good. We were concerned at first that compared some other products we have used in the past the Level8 shell felt sort of flimsy, but that may be one of its advantages. We have 2 more international trips scheduled and will be using the Level8 on those upcoming flights/cruises.
Scheduled on the Mardi Gras Oct 2025 on a Journey cruise. We have a standard balcony on the 14th floor also, cannot wait to get on this vacation. Usually go every other year on a cruise, but Covid cancelled us twice, so, we are ready and excited!!! Thank you for the video!
We have enjoyed the Sanctuary on several Princess Ships. We have found it comfortable and one of the quieter places on the ship with excellent service. We usually booked a half day in the morning or afternoon and it’s rarely ever seems fully booked. It must be one of the best kept secrets on Princess ships
My lovely wife, Roxie, and I are doing our 1st cruise of any kind. We’re going on the Viking Iconic Western Mediterranean cruise in May 2025. One question I have is the custom of gratuity, or tipping as is so common (and increasingly expected 😠!) in the U.S. Do we tip onboard and excursions, etc? Thank you for your in depth videos - we’ve learned a lot 👍😃 Pete Featherly North Carolina
Yes, and Viking will give you gratuity guidelines on board for the crew. On excursions, it is customary to tip the local guides. We usually give $5 or $10 if the guide is exceptional.
We are going on Celebrity Beyond this October- our first cruise! Thanks for your very informative blog. Looking forward to your blog on the ships dining.
The Sanctuary is worth every dime and dollar it charges. It’s the first stop I make after, sometimes instead of, going to my cabin. On longer cruises, with lots of sea days, it’s great!
Thank you so much for the review. Very detailed and helpful. Saw an uncomplimentary one of Facebook and have been wondering if to go for monos instead. I wish they'd offer a 50% off. 😂😂😂😂
No shelves because in rough seas things go crashing. Imagine all that potential broken glass on your bath floor! Really Experienced cruisers would have known that. I’ve seen huge messes when people didn’t stow things properly in rough weather. I alway keep that in mind when I arrange things.
