Hey Liz and Pete--just signed up for the Prostitcher basic class at the end of October. I purchased my machine about 18 months ago; will I need to upgrade my Prostitcher program or will the one that came with it still be ok?? thanks! And there are some of us Americans who are trying to get our UK heritage back!!
We will send details of which program you will need. We will use simulation for much of the class (rather than standing at the machine) so a separate windows computer is best but you can bring the one from your pro stitcher if you don't have one. We will explain it all on an email. Everyone needs to be on the same level of software.
Hi. I like your video on the magnet bobbins on how you decided to set the tension. Can you show how to set the bobbin tension without the magnet bobbin?
Yes, we have a few videos on it. This one is from the training for the Sweet Sixteen. The same principle applies to all the machines with a standard aluminium or plastic prewound bobbin. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3HnCfgfziwU.html
Deb, in theory you can, by purchasing a conversion kit and a frame from Handi Quilter and having your dealer install it. But you will probably be better off selling your Sweet 16 and purchasing a new Handi Quilter machine and frame as the overall cost will probably be less. And you will get a new 5-year warranty too!
The bobbin cleaning is normally done from the front. The top plate can be removed for removing the lint and while it's open you may as well put a drop of oil in from the top. It does the same thing. This applies to the Amara as well as the other Handi Quilter machines. The Infinity has a different stitch plate so it has to be removed differently.
How difficult is it to actually remove the main frame of the machine so you can get to the undercarriage for cleaning?? Is this best left to Derek and Sandra at maintenance time?? I'd be afraid of messing something up or dropping it due to the weight. Thanks.
Loved your discussion on baselining and saving. Would love to see a demonstration on the steps of how to shutdown and restart an edge to edge on the Amara. I use the drag and drop method. I am not comfortable shutting down and starting back up. For some reason, I must be missing a step or misunderstanding on how to do a certain step. I really appreciate all of the information you share. It has really helped me on my quilting journey.
Hi Helen - it's called Bernat Blanket Yarn. I aways want to say Bertinet Blanket but I'm mixing up a delicious brand of bread and pastries (Bertinet) with some fabulous yarn!!!! Some of my favourite things!
Thank you for this video. I have trouble with my bobbins winding with the middle bulging while the top and bottom has less thread. How do I fix this problem besides guiding the thread with my finger as it’s winding? Also, how would I adjust the bobbin winder if I encounter spongy bobbins?
Hi Laura. Are the bobbins spongy as well as having the issue with bulging thread at the same time? If so, it is likely that the lack of tension is causing the issue. You can adjust the spring on the tension knob by tightening (to the right) to see if increased tension improves it.
Thank you for your tutorials. New to Handiquilter Moxie XL on Loft frame but not new to longarm quilting. Needing to learn some new muscle memory after quilting on my previous setup for 12 years. I don't have access to the back of my frame...well, depending on how skinny I feel that day...do you have a suggestion for how to load on the Loft frame, set in low position, from the front with Red Snappers? I end up with my snappers in between the quilt sandwich when I get to the end...not easy to remove them...
Hmmmm..not sure why your snappers are in between the quilt sandwich when you get to the end. Are you removing them from the top fabric and basting when you do the final pass? I use pins, not snappers so maybe I haven't understood why that is happening. The Moxie XL is a great machine!
@@PinholeQuilting Thanks for the quick response! Figured out it was my eagerness and muscle memory from previous setup. Just grabbed some fabric to try it out and had a top that was longer than the backing, so I hadn't floated the bottom edge of the top. Still haven't figured out how to load the backing onto the takeup bar from the front of the frame without having to lean so far....workin' on it. Got Pro-Stitcher Lite installed today. FABULOUS!
Hi Carla I'm not sure you can do anything else other than to lean when using the snappers. The only alternative I can think of is to have extra long cloth leaders on the take up rail so that you could push the snappers on using one of the front rails instead of having to lean. Great to hear you are enjoying PS LIte!@@carlasmurphy4929
The Moxie XL can have quilting from the back which the Capri conversion can't. The XL can also use Pro-Stitcher Lite which the Capri conversion can't. Stitch quality wise I would not say there was a lot between them. Lighting is very similar. The Moxie XL is on a 4-track Loft Frame system whereas the Capri could go on a Studio frame. The Moxie XL has a newer and larger screen. Overall the Moxie XL has more features.
If they are distorted and can't be persuaded back into shape we would recommend replacing it. If it is falling out regularly or you are having stitching issues that you suspect are due to the back lash spring.
Hello there! Glad you liked the videos. I have reuploaded a full version of this one (it got truncated!) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_53yI0tShb4.html
Thank you for this video. I did't know about the little tool to let the gear down. I have it, but didn't realize what it was for. Your video saved the day!
Thanks for the great training courses that you arranged in 2023 especially on Pro Stitcher & PS Designer this Autumn with Linda Jackson, I'm looking forward to more in 2024. The friendly help & support available for Handi Quilter machines here in the UK is just the BEST.
Nicky, thank you so much! We are pleased that you found the course useful - training is a key part of what we do and one of the reasons we are the 'go-to' place for longarms in the UK. Watch out for more courses in 2024!
The best part of this is that there are so many happy, smiling faces!!! Yay for Pinhole Quilting!!! Part of my New Year's resolutions is to tackle (finally) how to use Prostitcher...All the best in 2024!!!
Hi @sylviagould1624 it doesn't have a needle threader but the needles are very easy to thread. Use the technique of going down the groove in the needle
I have a question about the Handi hammock, the directions that come with it are for the studio 2 frame. I couldn’t figure out how to mount it to the studio 3 frame. Will they update the directions?
