The only thing I think could use a bit of work with the new Angela design-wise is making her cheeks less round to give her a slightly more skinny/emaciated appearance, to make it look like she isn't eating enough. Otherwise she's fine. Her model does seem to look a bit worse than the other characters in cutscenes she's in but that's something that seems fixable by the release date. All the people bitching about DEI in this game are off their rockers, they literally just changed Maria's outfit a bit and made Angela look like her actual age rather than being an extra 15-20 years old. Anyone saying a victim of sexual abuse who was a child/teen at the time it was happening needs to be more attractive/sexy probably belongs on a watch list, what the fuck are your priorities when playing this horror game? The other characters whose sexiness are actually important to the plot/symbolism are fine, Maria's outfit is a bit different but it's still revealing enough to fit her and the nurses are arguably more sexualized with the stockings and heels they now have.

Mainly AAA games because they have huge budgets and appealing to DEI mandates can get them more funding. Look into Sweet Baby Inc. and Blackrock. It's the reason we see stuff like Alan Wake 2 where they race-swapped Saga Anderson, or Spiderman 2 where the story portrayed him as in the wrong for being a superhero and saving people's lives rather than devoting himself entirely to what MJ. Also quite a few notable examples where they make the characters uglier than the actual models who did mocap for them because they think women who aren't overweight and unattractive are "unrealistic". They even complained about Stellar Blade's main character being unrealistic even though she was made with a Korean model as a base. 15:27 you say that the TV guy looks like he's been shot in the back of the head. I had always assumed it looked like someone had smashed his face in in the edge of the TV. Looking back over your gameplay, I think you're right - there's way too much blood on the walls for it to be bashing. Now I hadn't connected the shot-up room with the dead TV guy, and... yeah, that was likely intentional. My favorite thing about SH2 is that every time you interact with it, either by playing or watching a gameplay or even just talking about it, you learn something new or get a new perspective.
9:32 the interior of this car always bugged me. it's such an outdated and specific design - I haven't seen an interior like that since the 70's. and it looks uncomfortable to sit in. You can feel that squeaky plastic with no middle arm rest. It just FEELS unsafe to ride in. EDIT - there are no seat belts!!

Female here, and I hate the insults that are being thrown towards Remake Angela. She looks and sounds like a normal person that you wouldn't immediately guess there's something wrong with them, which is 100% common in this world. OG Angela was great and uneasy, obviously something was wrong with her, but Remake Angela seems more realistic to a young adult. In addition, I actually look very much like her and it's really discouraging to read all the hate towards her looks and calling her ugly and fat. Thanks, internet. Very cool. Real Talk though, thank you for putting your voice out here for Angela and show that not everyone is all in agreeance that she looks terrible.

Maria and James kinda suck for the reasons you listed. For Angela, it's really just the graphical fidelity in that one shot from the graveyard that I think needs some work. What sucks to me, is everyone celebrating the new james model when he's literally just a nerdy looking version of leon.
I’m gonna do a review on my channel. And I feel like the only way to do it is to play it blind. I’m not gonna listen to anyone’s take or review and I’m gonna play it early. When I first played silent hill, I played the HD collection without any research. If I researched it, I would’ve been discouraged to play and wouldn’t have given silent hill a chance. Ofc I played the original after the HD collection but the HD collection made me respect the og series even more. Now i have a chance to revisit m favorite silent hill with new graphics and gameplay. So I’m gonna judge it for myself and if it sucks I’ll always have the original to play. People need to understand that.

Imma be honest, I was very excited for the remake, but then this happened. (Man-gela, my ass.) I mean, them trying to make her a transgender individual (*** A L L E G E D L Y ***) is wild. Same thing happened to Persona 3 Reload, same thing happened to Bayonetta 3. And I guess Hogwarts Legacy, which was valid, but damn, I just wanted to enjoy the damn game. I don't see the problem with her, or the issue all these "people" (really it's just men) have with her character model. She looks like the average female her age. Not every character has to be perfect or a model.
feel like the old camera angels needed to be implement sometimes to draw us back to how old silent hill was now its all over the shoulder camera ruins the surprises kind of still hopefully but they think they know what the made the old one flawless characters design and camera angels where all important espy in certain level play throughs it add scary elements of surprise and uniqueness

No, we do not all agree on this. It's ok if you prefer the old design, but not everyone does. And I disagree that Bloober Team toned her down. Heck, in no universe would I as a woman wear a black lacy bodycon dress and a pink leather jacket with high boots to an office (unless I worked at Heaven's Night). Maria's new outfit looks like what Sato originally had in mind for her. If you watch the making of SH2, they mention that she was supposed to be even sexier originally and they refer to the dress with the jacket. But they couldn't execute that design because of the limitations of the PS2 graphics and they had to opt for something else and ended up borrowing the Christina Aguilera look, which I personally don't find too original and don't care for. Sato also described Maria as "disturbing and sometimes cute" and what makes her attractive as a woman are her imperfections. She represents a sexier more playful and seductive version of Mary, she doesn't necessarily need to be "bimbo" to use your words. It's not the crop top that makes her sexy for James, it's her attitude, her behavior and her mannerism.

Like I mentioned in the video I was just nit picky about it I’m gonna give it a chance because at the end of the day I completely trust the game to do the right thing. As for me and good chuck of the fandom (which now looking at it a “certain” crowd within the fandom probably the loudest about her design choice) we still like the new Maria design it’s just to me her look sells her character clothes can really tell you about a person, like Eddie for example wears a shirt that barely fits and shorts because some would consider that childish (Not my words someone had pointed that out in a review I saw years ago) And lastly for the reason why I said all of can agree it’s because I remember the day her new look was shown and the general reaction was the miss the old look more, but your right I shouldn’t had said; I stand by what I said in the video but I definitely could had use better phrasing, I don’t hate this new look it’s just old Maria really conveyed her personality with that look imo of course. Whether you would wear something or not is completely irrelevant to the FACT that her character design has OBJECTIVELY been toned down. The fact that she's covered up more isn't a matter of opinion. 🥱 Furthermore, I saw the making of Silent Hill 2 and yes her new outfit was an original concept, BUT they NEVER attributed "PS2 graphic limitations" as the reason for changing it. To be fair about her acting slutty, we haven't seen her in the context of acting like a bimbo, in the gameplay shes searching for laura, even in the og she doesn't act slutty looking for Laura, outside of heavens night which we don't see

In my honest opinion I hear what you're saying about the redesign and I get it, but maybe I'm coping when I say this , but I think its very Intentionally with this redesign they (blooper) are setting up something else now is that something else good? we just have to wait and see.

This game is gonna be bad, its a survival horror game made by a walking sim jumpscare dev. The dialogue isn't stilted and awkward like the original. Oh by the way I don't care how Angela looks, she looks fine, and so does James, but I have my doubts gameplay wise and I don't think the story would hit the same as the OG. Also don't call out the chuds, they'll come for you. EDIT: I also don't think James looks like Leon, he just looks like some guy i'd stand behind in home depot and its kind of fitting, even if I didn't like it at first.

She looked better in the original but I like her new look. She actually looks her age which is 19. In the original she looks way older then that, like in her 30s. Just imagine that would be Angela when she was 19 and I think her voice acting is good too. The remake looks really good and promising and I can't wait to play it.

My take too! This is getting a BIT out of hand. I will say though that to be fair, we've all been extremely patient waiting for a good silent hill experience since MAYBE shattered memories? We then finally had something after years of pachinko with P.T. and they bagged it. A big "Fuck you :)" to all us silent hill fans. Anything that's come after has been super mid to just down right disrespectful. Then out of nowhere they tease several silent hill projects getting us all excited by how much they talked it up. Only to have short message and ascension. We haven't had any news on F but just with what we've gotten so far, I've been cautiously optimistic (and even that is fading). I really just want a GOOD silent hill game that lives up to the best in the franchise. I honestly don't give a fuck if Angela has one or five chins, the characterization just needs to be there and on full display. The whole SH2 story is fucked and I want to be able to see those story beats shine through. I thoroughly enjoyed layers of fear for what it was so I'm willing to give bloober team a chance. Despite all the pointless in-fighting in our Fandom I truly believe we all want is to just have our silent hill back. Let's just see how this goes 1st THEN if you guys wanna go doomer goblin mode on Bloober and Konami be my guest. Just because silent hill is about positivity and harmonization, doesn't mean we can't be 🥲..

No one was clamoring for Angela of all ppl to be hot now. Just keep her the same, but with today's graphics. But no, hit detection or whatever the dei company working with this game is, declared themselves that she was too attractive and must be "fixed" for modern audiences which almost always seems to mean man them up and ugly them up. She wasn't exactly a looker in the first place. They probably had to mess her and maria up because otherwise what are they getting paid for?

But if you see that a game TV show or movie has hired one of these companies, you can be sure it will be super woke, race swapped or 'ethnic' characters of all kinds added just because, characters uglified, etc, etc. Any one of these or a combination of them or all will be applied.

I think Angela's model looks representative of a woman that's not going to doll herself up for a man's attention. James' face and voice are fine but it's his hair, I think it needs to be an inch shorter all around.
If I was to design an Angela redesign I’d have made her look like daisy Edgar Jones. But this Angela is quite good for bloober. I’d have expected them to make her look more like a little fat goth with a hoodie that says victim on it. You know. They aren’t known for their subtlety are they bloober team.
