Hey , my name is Gabi I'm a 22 year old student and I make games and program. (When I'm not lazy). I am currently enjoying some low level programming but I also work a lot with Unity. Also I can cook.
Why did I actually play this... Anyway I got 00:56:55. The cow is actually so helpful because it just catapults you out of danger for a good while. The concept of this challenge reminds me of an impromptu board game jam we did at a uni event once where every idea that's ever uttered by a participant was required to get into the game in some way. It actually created some pretty hilarious rules and a bizarre game world, even though we always tried our best to make sense of it in some way. Jonas and I later made it into a digital prototype using... well, GameMaker! Good times :D
I graduated college for game programming recently. I already knew basically everything in the courses, so everything was easy. But I had many courses very similar to the ones you described. The one thing I did love learning was OpenGL and Vulkan, even though Vulkan was painful. Now I'm just kind of idk, unemployed, but making money off a Roblox game that doesn't utilize the knowledge I got from college, just all of my prior game dev knowledge before college. Was it a waste of time and money? Probably
Best tutorial. I have tryed 3 more, but this is the easy one (at least to get steam integration and connection) Now... time to make gameobjects and other stufs, but Steam implementation was so nice. Thanks a lot!
For my level 3 assignment they gave me a partially completed application and had us implement the most basic functionality when I actually wanted to create a complex application from scratch
With all you have learned and done I commend you. But perhaps instead you should put your efforts into unreal engine and indie dev, with everything going on AAA right now its a sinking ship (Much sea of thieves pun intended :) ) Great job have a nice day :)
I think video perfectly describes how and what you actually need to learn and practice to become a game developer. It's as simple as that. Make some games at SDL, if needed make game at Unreal Engine/Unity. More in depth this is really perfect that I didn't find a passion for it. Learning math, graphics and physics programming. And this video perfectly describes what examples of portfolio you need to have WITH THIS KNOWLEDGE you can apply for a job at any company. Because this is what people/companies expecting from you as a game developer Wish you luck for future opportunities and don't overwork. Stay healthy!)
