I've bougth the same Chinese knock off, just with a different pump. Second burn and the pre-heating pipe was clogged. There's a wire for some reason and I'm unable to pull it out. Burning it off on a gas stove has worked and I can blow through. Do you think it will work just fine if I manage to get the wire out one day? IMO it has no purpose except heat distribution and it's a weak spot. My gasoline was bad but not that bad. When I was burning it off it smoked and burned like plastic. Or like the green grease this thing was full of. It's my second multifuel and I wouldnt do it third time. It's a nice idea to have a back up, to be able to burn waste motor oil but the gasoline smells bad, it sounds like a jet engine and it's not very powerful. You've gotta use it outside but it sucks in the wind and bellow freezing too.
The stove is very dangerous. Where the stove connector connects to the bottle; leaks badly at the other side and I have had 2 defective ones. When you take the valve out to see what has leaked, the whole lot comes out. The seals have failed me on 2 stoves nearly resulting in the fuel bottle popping off (exploding). This item should not be on the market for any reason. They come mainly from china and have no UK safety certification, This could absolutely ruin your trip or your life!!
Most important aspect of using any multi fuel stove is allowing plenty of time for pre heat and then ensuring you flip the fuel bottle over and allow the fuel in the hose to be used and then it will go out and you’ll hear the air from the bottle escaping.....you must allow this to happen otherwise when you try to disconnect the fuel line from the bottle it will spray vaporised fuel everywhere. Also there is a pad in the bottom that you light to preheat and just before the preheat flame goes out slowly add more fuel. The amount of people I see just open the fuel valve and end up with massive yellow flames going everywhere is amazing......my advice would be read the instructions if you’ve never used a liquid fuel stove before.
a great video I can't wait to receive my 3 legged transfer stand to use with my Butane and will order the LPG adaptor for my Coleman Propane 1lb tanks as well
ordered the same stove a while ago, it runs great on regular gas for a few minutes, then it simply dies off. I have taken it apart and it seems like the hose congests after a few minutes. It is completely blocked, until I take it apart and let it rest for a day or two, then it opens up again... Any idea what this could be? Anyone having the same issues? I assume the hose is a cheap rubber which swells when it gets in contact with gasoline, as it runs great if I run water thru the hose. I can rund a full bottle of water thru it, warm or cold, but as soon as i run gasoline thru it it gets blocked after 1-2 minutes.
Peter August ...never tried petrol I got the adaptor and run it on gas ... I tried it with kerosene or meths both work good. but gas is a lot cheaper from just go. store
Problem was actually the hose, since I changed this the stove ran for at leat 100 hours without any problems on regular 95 Octane fuel.
It's the pre-heating pipe. There's a wire. Exactly the same thing has just happened to me. Second burn adn it failed. I cant pull the wire out but I was able to burn it off on a nice flame. It may be the green jelly Chinese greased it with. I've used gasoline too. Maybe it's dissolving it. I've got a diesel nozzle tho - this should fix the damn petrol smell and it works as a lube too so the rubber sealings will last
@@trollmcclure1884 It was a problem with the hose, I think it swell and blocked itself when it came into contact with gasoline. I habe changes the hose and have used the stove many, many times since then without any problems. I learned to use pure ethanol for the preheat to avoid the nozzle getting blocked by soot. But even if it is blocked I can easily clean it in the field. By now I have probably ran 10-15l of 95octane gasoline thru it and still use the first nozzle and o-rings.
When turning it off, the trick is to turn the fuel bottle upside down but vertical with feed valve control still open. The pressure in the bottle will push any fuel remaining in the line through to the stove and the stove will go out without the need to turn off the feed valve. That way you know that, when you take everything to bits, there is no fuel remaining in any part other than the fuel bottle.
Thanks Karl glad you enjoyed it mate. The bivy bag was spot on it kept me nice n dry as it rained most of the night, the only thing was i had put my down mat inside it and it was a little tight inside, next time i use it i'll keep my mat on the outside and there should be loads of room inside, it was just a bit tight when i was turning around in my sleep. Thanks for watching
hi could you tell me what navigational app you were using please. Really enjoyed this video. Really looking forward to doing crinkle crags and bow fell soon. magic views. Andy H
Snakebite Vinyl Thanks very much i'm glad you enjoyed the vid. The app i used for navigation is Ordnance Surveys The MapFinder for iPhone. They have brought out a new app called OS Maps which is a subscription based app for access to there maps. Take care, JB.
hi, I'm an Aussie heading to the UK in May, hiring a campervan and driving around..this is one place l am thinking of visiting and with the help of vid's like yours am getting an idea of level the climb might be at and what level of fitness one needs to be...may need to visit gym more frequently and do the treadmill more often with a raised elevation...thanks to people like you who post vid's like this so that people like me can research and gauge whether they are capable of visiting such places...thank you..
hi again..need to ask, how long did it take you and Rube to walk from car park to summit..?? if this is a walk that is going to take hours in just one direction then l may have to cancel, but if its a couple of hours there AND back, allowing for stops to intake more oxygen, chuckle, then that should be fine..please get back to me soon...Carol...
Carol Taylor It took us about an hour to get to the summit, it's a more direct and steep climb going up the front way, if you wanted a steady climb you can go up the back way past Goats water, it's a bit longer route but not as brutal on the legs. Enjoy your visit and thanks for watching my vids, Take care. JB
another enjoyable watch, I have been up Blencathera twice this summer, once with my son and the second time by myself. We went over Sharpe Edge each time but back down to the pub each time, although I like the idea of a wild camp but at 61 I do not fancy caring all the gear! Thanks for posting - cheers Alan!
Thanks very much Alan, i never got to go along Sharp Edge, next time i'm up that way i will do that route. Yeah the packs can get a bit heavy when camping but if you get some lightweight gear you should be fine :)
Enjoyed this, especially the information you gave on where to park and start the walk. Path seemed easy to follow so think I will give this a go next year. Cheers Alan!
Thanks Alan, It's a good walk up Coniston Old Man, there's the tourist route up the front which is nice and steep, that's the way i went on this vid or you can go around the back way via Goats water which is a bit longer but levels out here n there. On a clear day the views are excellent
hi mate . can I ask you about that cheapo brs 8 stove ...think you bought one back in 2014..multi fuel stove . is it worth buying one or any better ones around . new to wild camping and buying gear for it so and suggestions welcome. cheers
Hi, yeah it's a good stove for the money. I mainly use my Jetboil now so haven't used it for a while, The multifuel stove is cheap to run using unleaded petrol or hooking up the cheap long gas cans to it.
hi...new to wild camping in fact just bought my first tent. this stove still worth getting ? on e bay for £38...or would you suggest a better one ? any suggestions welcome ..cheers
Takes its out of you don't it JB the Bivvy sleeping, Its got its advantages ie weight/pack size/pitch anywhere etc but if you like your comforts then maybe the tents the man ? Just think how many peeps are still in kip while you was up there early morning enjoying that sunrise :) Great camp mate.....cheers Terry.
Yeah i'm liking the Bivvy where you can just crash down anywhere, i'm looking into getting a Siltarp 2, i noticed you have one and it stood up to some battering in that heavy rain on one of your vids.
MrJaybeejohn JB its a good piece of kit, that light and small pack size its unreal, i take it with me on camps all the time, and if you have the guides already made up its ready to bash up in mins....good if it suddenly lash it down. its definitely had its testing with me LOL. a few good tarps around now that don't weigh a ton.
Alpkit thats the one, thanks Foxy, yeah it was a bit tight i was going to put my mat on the outside but its a down one and don't think it's waterproof so i'll probably have to invest in the Alpkit xl. Thanks for watching.
