I love the world more because of D'Angelo. Damn, supremely talented band for this incredible artist to bounce off of. Saw The Vanguard live a few years ago, one of the best shows of my life.
Wonderful to see Jesse up on stage again, another overlooked and underrated brother. An incredibly talented artist that helped make a couple of other artists into legends...such as Prince and Morris Day. I grew up listening to Jesse Johnsons Revue. These two talents collaburating was genius. And I dont mean to sound rude but Jesse has always had a cool classy way of carrying himself, so when he brings that also to the stage, mixed with D'Angelos raw sensuality...its absolute Genius.
Anyone that ever questioned THIS mans sexuality clearly was jealous, and probably Homophobic...if not then they were probably secretly hoping he was gay.

All I'm hearing is a bunch of James Brown screams and pseudo George Clinton (minus the funk). Sounds more like a sound check than an actual show. He's coasting on his name and past success at this point.
***** That's good to hear. I never said he was an untalented hack, but what he's playing on this vid isn't particularly impressive, at least to my ears. I see more comments about his looks and his body and "he fine" than I see about the music.
***** what he does in this video is more of a thing you should experience at a concert. It's much more entertaining and fun in person (speaking from experience). Obviously it's not his best work but it's just a fun jam, that's it.
phorest That's exactly how it comes across as a jam. Not very focused at all. Fun for him and the other musicians; for the paying customers - not so much.
***** speaking from experience it was very fun. I was at a concert of his in February and he did a similar thing and it was one of the high points of the concert.
This makes no sense. You're watching a video from 2012 lol. Which is pre-Black Messiah. This song LIVE was funky before the studio version dropped but when it dropped and he took it back to the stage, this joint is a hundred times funkier NOW than it was first debuted in 2012. Do the research.
+yobananabob Amen. I was just thinking something to the effect of how utterly rare it is for a session cat to have name recognition, but I sure know who Pino 'mah fuggin' Palladino is. And that kind of says it all to me.
