Just started my Journey aswell. Got the ultimate edition on sale so im going to jump in and learn Akuma, only fighting game experience i have is mk so this will be interesting.
Thanks so much for this guide. I've loved this game since I was a kid and recently got into watching it competitively. I'd love to be able to play it to some semblance of a high level but just have to get started. This helped me with understanding a lot of interactions I've seen a lot better.
It really does. Since everything doesn’t have a buffer. For example you can only jump out of Hitstun when the frame allows u. U can’t press it 10 frames before ur hitstun ends and it will buffer for u, but when u get used to the game it feels very smooth because everything happens instantly
8:43 "This range is stupid!" nobaody tell him about axl low and his grab that goes ACROSS THE SCREEN, not to mention is punch that goes about halfway across... also, a sol main who dosnt spam y, a good man, or "BANDIT BRINGER, BANDIT BRINGER, BANDIT REV BANDIT BRINGER!"
8:49 i was speeding through the damn video and i legitimately got jumpscared the worst part is i read the comments and i thought "hey there might be a jumpscare" and it got me anyway
I started playing about a month ago, never played a trad/anime fighter before, only Smash basically and GG is fun! It's fairly easy to pick up if you watch a few videos. I watch pro Faust players to see what they do in certain situations.
Also the previous game (Xrd Rev 2) is very fast paced compared to Strive. And VERY fun to watch tourneys of. Sol has a super that turns him into an insane character for a time then puts him in a lag state if you don't kill them in time.
The easiest way to deal with pot wall is to do you armoured full screen super but if you don’t have tension you should block it as soon as possible because it only has 4 hits
I think the tutorial is good but you need to do it in parts, do a little bit, remember those mechanics, play a lot to internalize it and then go back to the tutorial
I noticed you started with modern and switched to classic controls. I am new and currently playing on modern. Do you suggest switching to classic and why did you switch?
