Tekken 8 is so much fun, it has a very rushdown style now because of the heat mechanic and im all for it. Reina is also a pretty hard character but she is pretty fun.
I want to get more people into playing competitive ranked queue because its really fun, don't let your performance stop you from playing ranked and improving yourself.

Jin kazama, you've already learned the basics of 2 Mishima's and I'd say Jin or pretty much the mc of fighting games usually encapsulates how the game "should" be played or at the very least is the most well rounded character in the roster. A solid 7-8/10 in any situation and I'd say never a "bad" pick.

I cannot stress how important these videos are actually, in an environment where most guides are almost too technical from years of experience players, it's nice for new players to see the natural growth and thought process of learning the game

@@torok8974The issue with that is Tekken 8 is very different then Tekken 7 . Putting some of the older players on higher ranks can be unfair because they still haven't figured out the changes yet . Also playing against skilled players as a noob is very helpful . You can actually learn from them whereas only playing against noobs isn't much helpful because you can get away with a lot of mistakes and bad habits .

In case no one said it already, @ 38:31 to answer your question, the reason the combo dropped is because it looks like you didn’t do your inputs quite fast enough, which gave him the ability to “tech roll” out of your combo. This is done by pressing 1 or 2 as soon as your body is about to hit the ground after getting tossed like a salad, hence why he did the roly-poly outta there lol. Hope this helped love the content!
@georgegkoumas5026
@georgegkoumas5026 3 месяца назад
Just to clarify: tech roll can be done by pressing any attack button (1, 2, 3 or 4) and the direction you roll into (right or left, background or foreground) depends on the button pressed. If you press 1 or 2 you tech roll left and if you press 3 or 4 you tech roll right. It is different from normal ground rolling which can only be done using 1 or 2 and not 3 or 4 and the way to roll in different directions there is: just press 1 or 2 to roll to the background and down 1 or 2 to roll to the foreground. If you press any kick button it will lead to a wakeup kick.

I would like to recommend the arcade quest mode to learn new characters and have fun while doing it. It gradually teaches you all the basics you'd need to know specific to the character you choose and a good intro to all of the new mechanics in T8. It also gives a very easy base to build your moveset from and all the new mechanics and ways to connect them, and gives new objectives based on what you just learned to help encourage you to use it all. it isn't a replacement for online play as practice but definitely the best tutorial I've seen in any of the series so far. It would be fun to see a video on your playthrough of it and your thoughts/progression after completion! It only takes a few hours to finish entirely if you dont lose any matches as well!
@skoutah

Nah, online is superior for learning. Ghosts in this game are horrible and don't play even remotely like a real person. Sure, it can teach you how to counter or block certain combos but that's basically it.

Yeah as you mentioned at the end, you don't start losing rank for losing matches until you hit Warrior or "Yellow Rank" which is a change from Tekken 7 to help newer players not get completely discouraged. (Meaning you can't be demoted below Warrior the line just stops there permanently) Good stuff though man, Reina can be tough. But her toolkit is insane if you can actually apply it.

A few caveats with the binding L2 to 2+3 for electrics thing: A) I don't belive it actually makes it easier its just a personal timing thing, whatever feels better. Personally I found the pinch method okay on P1 side but quite a bit harder on P2 side. B) With this bind the moves you get out of a wiffed electric are much worse to be wiffing, like throws or even potentially wasting your heat burst. C) Depening on the character it can actually makes it harder. Like w Devil Jin for instance who has a grab with the input df 2+3 (so if your not playing another mashima then go for it but otherwise u might want to stick w the 2 input) D) But whateves the most fun for you is what I would go with, awesome content yet again good stuff!

I've followed your youtubes for years and ive played competetive tekken for around 15 years and it sure is a fun mix to see you play tekken! df1 after df2 in your full crouch df4 misses because of axis so you're right! Rage art works in combos. tldr of why it only hit once is because as the opponent slides down the wall after a wall splat there is a short amount of time where they count as "grounded" hitting someone with a rage art in a grounded state wont trigger the whole thing!

@Arktik1st
@Arktik1st 3 месяца назад
38:28 What happened here is that you probably pressed your pickup attack too late, so the combo reset (pay attention to the red part of the health bar retracting) and the opponent hit the ground and performed a tech-roll. Tech-rolling is done by pressing any single attack button and it helps you get out of combo resets, because if you don't, the opponent can basically juggle you forever

dude mad respek. Only up to game 28 in your video at the moment but your growth from game 1 to here was amazing. Great job! Something I noticed is that you didn't use any side steps in any of the games I watched. May be worth trying it out as a way to dodge certain moves that aren't tracking. Usually characters have some pretty decent moves that you can use while side stepping as well, if you're lucky it could be a launcher as well so could be useful to try and get some counter hits.

Regarding the dropped combos around 39:00, I think it's just timing based. Probably a bit late in the execution. It can happens that you drop a combo because of 3D but it's usually only when you combo someone that isn't straight on. So after a sidestep or if their body is in a weird position because you interrupted a jump attack. This was neither so it's probably timing. It could be positioning (being too close or too far) but I don't think so in this case.

Hey man I love these videos but I do notice that you struggle a lot at beginner ranks. It's fairly normal to struggle if you are a beginner in tekken since you need a bachellors in spam science to get to green rank and a phd to go even further. But if I may give you a tip as someone who has played a bit more of the game, you seem to learn new moves at random, to play tekken you actually don't need to know a characters whole move list, just a few moves that have a particular purpose, that's what we call tools. Tools are used in particular situations with a specific purpose: is your oponent stepping you a lot? throw your best homing move; do they mash even if you are plus? most character have some form of fast counter hit move that nets a big chunk of damage and sometimes a combo; do you want to start pressuring from the neutral? most characters have some form of approach tool, like a running 2 or a demon paw; does your oponent whiff a lot? most characters have a long range launcher to punish like a df2 sort of move. In my opinion, you are still at a very early stage and I think you are breaking your head against a wall by watching your own replays, it's admirable diligence but you would be better off watching replays by better players that play the character you want to play, watching whatever guides for beginners are made for tekken (there are a lot of good ones, not just character specific, and a lot of the T7 knowledge still applies) and also spending a bit of time mastering your particular characters moves in practice mode. An example would be the fact that you can't consistently perform electrics yet, so if you are playing a mishima but can't electric, you are literally playing with a hand tied behind your back because it's their best and most useful tool, +5 on block, nice push back, nice range, tracks to the left, etc. Hope you found this somewhat useful and I wish you good luck.

The anakin reina guide is great for example he teaches tekken fundamentals with reina like first shows stuff in the lab and then uses it on the next game he basically gives a reina sort of flow chart / game plan at the same time he explains stuff

@25:40 That's called Knk stance and it's +9 on hit. It's Leo respect tool that you shouldn't challenge. However it's never used in lower ranks since everyone just mashes into it.

since u asked yeah, you can miss combos if they are angled incorrectly. can help to have a backup combo for those cases.

Played Yoshi since tekken 5. Never could get competitive with it though, green ranks really feels like the barrier where you get knowledge checked.

god this video got that overconfident side of me going crazy like i havent played a fighting game in probably 2-3 years and even then i was only decent at tekken 7 and my main isnt in 8 so i'll have to de-rust learn new things learn a whole new ass character from scratch and get used to using an arcade stick again but there were so many matches in here where i was like "yeah i'd beat that guy" even though i probably wouldnt 😭

The reason why the combo kept dropping is because your opponent was tech rolling which moves him out of the way and allows him to get up instantly. If you notice when you tried to do the combo the first two times he would land on the floor then just get up but when you did it that third time he was in the air keeping him from tech rolling. 39:13
