But really tho, playing an indie game with three "factions" where youre stuck in between two different alien species was mindblowing to me. Idk how difficult it was to program these things, but its just awesome to imagine the stuff that need to be done for that. Really revolutionary for an indie game at its time. In most small games, everyone is an enemy. But not in Iji
no wayyyyy I didnt think I would find another version of hero and it is such an awesome one, god how I love machinae supremacy but I love you even more for uploading this :]
from remar's website: "Total destruction is imminent. This is without a doubt the final battle for Peroni & Son. (Peroni is an Italian beer he was looking at.) We need everybody to evacuate, and bring all your Carlsberg to the front desk. I repeat, bring all your Carlsberg. System shutdown." since no one has actually posted the full thing
I first heard this is a youtuber's opening music (I don't remember who) and it was stuck in my head for years. Reaching it in Iji so many years later nearly killed me, I never expected to hear it again
This is an extremely nostalgic song for me. Back in summer of 2012 I was very down on my luck and had little money. Couldn't really afford games or anything, so when I had free time that summer I would download freeware games and play them. It was a lot of RPG maker games, stuff like yume nikki, but one of those games I played was Iji. I remember spending a month just captivated by it and trying to get alternate endings and secrets. This song always stuck with me and I give it a listen every now and then when it pops back up in my head.
All these years later and this is still badass *It's useless human!* Iji and it's soundtrack sticks with you, If you were one of the lucky few to come across this absolute hidden gem of a game you'll likely never forget it. I still remember the day I found this game, it was in a website that basically redistributed free software online, I was intrigued by the artstyle, felt like giving a try cause it was pretty light on storage space, and if I didn't like it I could just delete it and forget it anyway. BOY WAS I SURPRISED WHEN I STARTED PLAYING. Like, you'd usually get really poorly made amateur indie projects if you went in blind back in the day, Iji was something else, it was a high quality indie game before the "Indie boom" came and changed the industry forever, and no one was talking about this game. Dude, I almost didn't check it out, life would've been lesser without this game, for real, it was part of my childhood and I wish more people knew about it.
Same feeling here, ever since I played the game like roughly 5 years ago, it stuck with me forever. I've been using "Komato" as my nickname since then lmao
Tell me, is it just me or do you feel like it is so similar to the song "1990 Asia - 'Days Like These' "? I could find nothing on the internet about this similarity. Notice I am hard of hearing person.
Still awesome after all this time. Feels almost criminal that this game is STILL so obscure. It's a wonderful story about how flawed everybody is and the horrors of war, but also how empathy and kindness can be just as impactful as anger and hate, if not moreso.
Damn this still hits just the same as it did when I was 10. An epic that truly makes you understand that for better or worse, this is the end result of everything that's happened and you are fighting for the fate of humanity.
