After the finer compost is out of the spreader add the larger particles to your compost (or start one). start making your own with your clippings yard waste and kitchen scrapes and put it on your garden and just as important the lawn. Surprised how much you can supplement compost. Maybe from a full yard of soil to 1/2 yard implementing compost. Then year to year you need less and the compost you create will cover your needs. Throw it in a green bin and buy it back or keep it and use it. Also compost tea in an ortho spreader after you spread compost is ideal.
now if you want to make that lawn super green and lush, water with Grey water from your laundry washing machine, instead of wasting it down the drain. the discharge does wonders to any landscaping, gardens etc.
I am in Fort Worth. A part of my lawn seems compacted despite using the sprinklers. I used Black Kow compost and I think the results were poor. What compost brand did you use and did it help the soil get softer?
Well, I made this video quite a few years ago. I now live in the country and have over 100 chickens. Their manure is fantastic. I haven’t composted it, but I do spread it thinly on the grass and it explodes with growth. It would burn easily though if it was spread too heavily.
@@wrstlngstud82 No you didn't address it at all, as if this was the only miracle cure. So no you didn't say a fertilizer would do the same thing, that's why I'm pointing it out. I think it was just nitrogen starved.

Hi Kelsey, I'm from Mesa, AZ, preparing to transition from winter rye to bermuda similar to your situation. I'm overseeding the rye with bermuda and last summer gave me some probs because I had numerous bare spots and weak bermuda growth. Wanted to confirm that the manure is ok to place on top of bermuda seed? Thank you.
I’m not an expert by any means, but if the manure is composted and no longer hot it should be good to grow just about anything I would think. Best of luck partner.
Perfect, i just did this to my lawn. I mixed it with top soil. I have my fongers cross. I wish I had that mesh tool instead of using the back of the rake.
Just did this with chicken manure and already see growth and green up after only 24 hours! You will not get that with synthetic ferts. Very stinky for the first day though.
My buddy swore by it. Used the same process as you did. He would move his lawn at the lowest setting bagging to pick up weeds or die off and then would lay manure. Neighbors complaining about the files but heck after a few weeks he had the best lawn.
Try chicken manure, that will shock the wife and neighbors!! Makes lawn even greener but the smell is unbearable 😫ha ha 😃 thanks. Great video. Amazing lawn for Bakersfield climate.
1st time this worked great. 2nd time I bought in bulk and created piles in the lawn to spread with a rake (I dont have a compost spreader)..And it burned my lawn in those piles 😭! Lesson learned. Don't make manure piles in lawn 🤣
