I thank Video Concert Hall for bringing this song to me back in the day. My first break-up song for angsty HS. " Play with your own life, but don't play with mine."
The prophetic shape of things to come ,unfortunately is here and now in the uk. Kier, play with your own life, but dont play with mine. Kiers dad made a tool.
In NY tri state circa 1980's -mid 1990's there was WFDU on weekends. This was DJ Jim Reikens sign on/sign off song. He had amazing taste. Sadly he passed too soon, too young around 2009? If you remember him, keep him in your heart
Only just realized that Mark Brydon (later one half of Moloko) was one of the key people in this fine band, and a chief architect of their great sound.
Ceasar's praying for rain, lightning flashes around The prophet is screaming, his head hits the ground You should hear the warning if you read the signs Play with your own life but don't play with mine There was Moses and me, when the wind took the change He hands out the menu, he moves out of range If you knew the action, you'd see you're so blind Play with your own life but donґt play with mine Oh, oh, uh, oh, oh-oh, the shape of things to come ..... You're not invited to stay, you're not intended to go Can you tell the future? I donґt think so You should hear the warning if you read the signs Play with your own life, but don't play with mine Oh, oh, uh, oh, oh-oh, the shape of things to come ..... You live in your dream, I'll live in mine May be tomorrow we will collide Oh, oh, uh, oh, oh-oh, the shape of things to come .....
Very good album and excellently recorded, funky and with crystal clear sound. I have the vinyl album, bought it at a bargain sale at the local record store a year or two after it came out.
I think they get panned over cuz coming out in late '79 it doesn't make it onto early 80's song lists, but it has that punky futuristic New Wave sound that fits that genre perfectly.
