I am a 16-year veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, where I was fortunate to get to do a lot of fun things, including deploying/instructing on five continents and serving in quick reaction force roles for multiple National Special Security Events in the United States. Now that I’ve gone Reserve, I’m trying to find a life in the civilian sector. I am a former Reserve Deputy Sheriff and I own a small gun parts and gear company.
I hold several certifications, including National Rifle Association Law Enforcement pistol and shotgun instructor and Range Safety Officer, Sig Sauer Academy’s Semiautomatic Pistol Instructor, AR-15 Armorer, a Sig P320 Armorer, and Glock Armorer.
What does that mean? I guess it means that I’ve had the chance to learn a lot, but I’m still always learning. I love to learn, whether about guns, gear, and tactics, or about politics or warfare. I’d like to think that as I learn, maybe I can share here and other people can learn.
JUST THOUGHT U SHOULD KNOWVU CAN GET UPDATED SIG SQUARE HOLE BASEPLATES FOR $6 TO CONVERT ALL OLD MAGS TO FIT X SERIES GRIPS! Sorry we're leaving it here but you left me no choice when you turn the comments off LOL that video actually could benefit a lot from having comments turned on because you shouldn't have many negative at all but tons of positives and pointers and such like the term Magwell not funnel you were saying Magwell right it's not actually called a funnel it just is a funnel LOL but now you don't have to correct yourself
Haven’t shot it in a bit since I’ve been moving optics around on guns. I had an optic come open, so I need to get it back on the range. Maybe run the board with it…
I use it with Baofengs and the newest version of ATAK and it works. Make sure you calibrate de audio and both Hammer plug ins have the same sample rate.
@@guntoter_official UV-5R, sample 16k, Baofeng APRS cable. The calibrate function on Hammer, when activated, will start broadcasting, increasing the volume at each step. Once your other device reacts to the transmission you hit STOP and it will remember the setting. Then you do it with the other device/radio. This way both your devices will have optimum settings.
If you go with a scout mount light the Proctor Direct Mount would probably be the best combo with these. it basically sandwiches the mlok and the light together, very flush fitting
eBay.com/usr/hybriddefensive. All I have up right now is the Eagle med pouches. Hoping to get the other stuff up next week. Gotta sort through everything.
Great video. Definitely one of if not the most informative reviews I’ve seen for this gun. It’s also cool to see the 16” version. Every single other video of the jakl is about the pistols/sbrs or the 13.7” & 14.5” versions. I just bought the 16” so I can change muzzle devices as I please. I’m hoping they’ll make more parts available individually for this in the future. I’m not a fan of the bolt catch. It’s much thinner & weaker than mil spec ones and there’s no ambi options without some custom modification. Separate barrels and rails would be really nice as well so we could build the uppers how we wanted like a 13.7” barrel and a longer rail then you could pin/weld whatever muzzle device you want that’ll bring it to 16 inches. Hopefully this platform gains traction. It’s really nice for the price and it’s something different.
Glad you enjoyed it! I’m not a fan of the bolt catch either. I feel like it needs a redesign, but hopefully they’re looking at that already. I’m not really sure this is an upper that you could do separate barrels to switch out unless they change the design a little bit. But yeah, it’s a fun gun, surprisingly pleasant to shoot, and I can see it catching on, as long as PSA keeps refining it.
Consider the yeasu FT-70. It costs less than $200 and is a digital & analog dual band Handheld. I have one but do not have the free time to explore this quickly. I will begin to check it out, but it will probably take me several months to do much. Should work as it does several other digital modes.
What the hell do I need that shit for . Throw a couple mags in my pockets . Toss a couple things in my cargo pockets and roll out . Stuff like this is dumb and not realistic
Ok I just stumbled on this video. I have greater interest in that pic rail you got across the top of the barrel. I have already replaced the original foregrip for a UTG slim version with the Mlok slots. I was looking at Samson industries pc scout rail to complete the look I’m wanting. If that is what I am seeing in this video, what’s your honest opinion on that rail? Is it worth the purchase?
@guntoter_official thinking it might be a be a better option at only a few penny's more. Here's the specs of the Chipset a Beken BK4819 BK4819 is a half-duplex TDD FM transceiver operating within 18 MHz ~ 620 MHz, 840 MHz ~ 1200 MHz band range for worldwide personal radio. 600 rounds is a low round count. 1 malfunction out of that is nothing to be concerned about. I have a 1911 that had about 10 malfunctions spread out of the first 600 shots. Since then I put another 1,400 rounds through it and I haven’t had a single malfunction yet. I don’t know much about the Hi Power, but I do know that steel frame A1 1911 pistol needs to be broken in. I’ve been through it several times.
This was done on the back of multiple reports of the SA-35 experiencing constant failures to extract beginning between the 600-800 round mark. My own experience was only three such failures in 1k rounds. While I may still get an enhanced extractor, my failure rate was much lower than I had seen in other reports.
@@guntoter_official If I were you I would definitely keep an enhanced extractor on hand. Giving those reports, it only seems inevitable the extractor will fail eventually. But you never know. Thanks
a baofeng uv5r with extended battery fits almost perfectly in a single stack ar-15 mag pouch. if said cover has a velcro cover just cut a hole or slot for the antenna no problem. external mic / speaker fits in there and leaves with no issues.
Good layout, nice pace, easy to follow: appreciate the time invested in breaking this pouch down for the end user. Tried to purchase through your link but got a 404 error so just went direct.
I have one of these rifles. I put a 3 1/2 pound single stage trigger in it. That made it perfect. The stock length of pull is good for a person of average stature wearing a tactical vest with plates. Overall, it's my go to rifle for 5.56. Makes an excellent patrol rifle.
Agreed, but I think it has a lot to do with how Apple locks down apps. They wouldn’t have the ability to do all the plugins that you can do on Android.
@@guntoter_officialhey Joel i happened upon your video the other day. I belong to a replica radio group where everyone uses a prc152 replica or a 148 replica. Getting these to work with atak would be great. I don't know where to start they use military connectors. Let me know your thoughts
I've got over 800 rounds thru mine zero malfunctions. Wide variety of ammo. Great shooting gun. It goes to BH Spring solutions for a few improvements and refinishing next week. Love the gun!
I ended up having 3 total failures out of 1k (all the same failure to extract). Not bad given the stories I heard, but I’m tempted to install the Apex extractor anyway.
If you remove the sling stud most rail mounted lights work I've ran a tlr 1 and a protac as well as a random amazon light they all fit so long as I removed the stud
