The best thing about yarn eyes is that you don't have to to BUY them, i'm always runnimg out of them very quickly and buying safety eyes is very annoying, and they cost a lot , with yarn eyes you can make as many plushies as you can easily, 🎉❤

You should have a total of 6 sts to work with after completing round 1. For round 2, inc in the first st, then sc in the next 4 sts, end the round by putting an inc in the last st in the round. You should have a total of 8 sts after completing round 2.

It was taking me forever to try to embroider eyes on projects for little ones, & i was struggling to make the stitches smooth and equal for both eyes around the crochet stitches! I embroidered the eyes with yarn or cut felt because it just more customizable. BUT I never thought of just crocheting eyes! lol, I feel silly. I have all the tools there already. 🤣 Great video. ❤
I prefer the simplicity of using safety eyes, but much of my crocheting is for charity and I never know what age child will receive my makes. For that reason, I do like to avoid safety eyes for those projects, as ‘safety’ is a bit of a misnomer since they aren’t deemed safe for children under age three. Your tutorial is great and I’m anxious to try it! 😊
I started using yarn eyes because the safety eyes were hard on my fingers and I had trouble finding the right size. I also had trouble getting them into the right position🤣. I hope you like the way these turn out and I'd love to see one of your finished projects using these eyes!😃

I might know your struggles. I learned to crochet in rows using single crochet stitches, and that's all I knew how to do. I started learning new stitches and had a love/hate relationship with crochet. I'd pick up it, get frustrated and put it down. Then I found amigurumi and the cycle started again. I hope my videos help more people who want to learn how to crochet amigurumi because it is therapy 😃 Keep at it! There are solutions out there for any problem you have.
This swatch is specific to this pattern. I don't think many crochet amigurumi patterns include a gauge. So I want to show why gauge is still important in amigurumi and how I created one for my puppy dog pattern. I think the shape for a dragon eye would be completely different from these, but you can try changing the white highlight to more of a cat eye. So taking the white yarn all the way across the black area.
When I started crocheting, I made single crochets in rows. I'd crochet row after row and then wonder why the edges were not straight. Crocheting was always something that I'd get all excited about and then give up because I didn't like the result of what I was making. It was even worse when I started crocheting amigurumi. Over time, I found solutions and now I want to share and encourage others to keep crocheting! I'm not perfect and I'd like crocheters to know that it's ok if yours doesn't look like a store brought stuffed animal.

Found your video very interesting… I have only recently discovered Amagarumi. I am 75 and I have been crocheting 57 years. I only thought I knew crochet!!! I have been working on a Mandala Afghan since Christmas of 2022 with other projects along the way. I so love these animals. Ive made a tiny unicorn for my grandsons girlfriend and a flying horse for my granddaughter (her college mascot). Both turned our good. I am now making Gary the Snail from Sponge Bob, the Gary since my grandkids were little. I finally found a pattern written in English but I want to make Gary have cat eyes. He says MEOW WHEN Sponge Bob talks to him. LOL…. I am trying to make my own pattern with difficulty but I am trudging along….. I am with you about the patterns and how they are written. Also, finding the right yarn size for the size you want to make. Enjoying your videos and i have subscribed and liked them amigurumi you want to make……

I started crocheting amigurumi because I just love stuffed animals and wanted to make my son a few that he would remember. I love gifting these little animals when I get a chance and I hope to provide crocheters with cute patterns that help them have the same experience. Crocheting amigurumi can be difficult and don't want crocheter to miss out on this rewarding craft because of that. Creating the patterns is sometimes trail and error and I think more crocheters are finding this of interest. So I want to create some videos to help out with this. I believe purchasing too many things can be overwhelming and if someone goes out and buys a bunch of stuff, they could feel like they have to rush to make a project.

I think this is a really great tutorial to get a solid, but manageable foundation of skills! In a day or 2, you can have a finished small piece that looks great! The way I started a few weeks ago was just going straight into a small project with yarn I had laying around and learning as I went. I of course made a lot of mistakes, but it did teach me a lot! I think either way is fine, and really depends on what someone is like when starting a hobby.
This was the most comprehensive beginner guide I've seen. I've been crocheting for a few years now. I wish I had this kind of a quick and strait forward explanation for everything, especially the magic ring. Slow instructions can make people nervous and most of them don't help you either. @@patternsbypatsy Oh wow! I would love to see your approach to stitches since I loved your method of explaining. Although, I feel there's more to talk about beginner experience. May be a part 2 with more questions for example, what's the best yarn to buy for a first time crocheter, What yarns are best to start amigurumi or a first bag or a bucket hat since those are some tutorials beginners look up on the internet. What are the cons of a bad crochet tool kit. I can say how horrid they can get because I bought some. I'm sure there are more people like me who can contribute opinions.
This was recommended to me right after I bought that same beginner kit and opened it already 😭 (The yarn that came with it was not beginner friendly) It was very informative though thank you!
Oh no!😢 I feel like many of the kits are put together by people who don't know the difference between crochet and knitting, but no worries! Don't let this keep you from crocheting😃!

I got a crochet beginner kit. All the hooks (up to 10mm) and the markers, needles, stuff I never knew I needed. No pattern or yarn though. It was a great buy. It was simple for me to grab the right sized hook because now I’ve got so many.
There are definitely some good ones out there. I got some really nice hooks with stitch markers, measuring tape, a little scissor and the yarn needles. My new favorite hooks :) but a lot of them add a bunch of silly extras.
