Hey cool video I grew up there’s graduated in 81 I probably cruised the sonic and down main st more than anyone in my 70 SS Camaro had a girlfriend that worked at sonic 😂
God its alot better now take that from a 12 year old that lives no we all go to gage and roller skate and sometimes in the winter we have a skating rink
I'm glad its gone because it was a dangerous and a disaster to drive on in the winter and it was rough to it destroyed more tires than I can count on my mom's car and was also hard on her suspension as well. Seriously three sets of tires every year that's having to replace every tire three times a year that's going through 12 tires a year and suspension realignment twice a year. Roads cost drivers thousands of dollars each year in maintenance costs and this section of Interstate 40 was the worst in Oklahoma history at least 5 deaths can be contributed to falling concrete on non drivers just people walking under it I myself almost got hit by falling concrete in 2009 when I was walking around downtown Oklahoma City I had to walk under the bridge to go to stores I liked in downtown Oklahoma City just missed by 2 feet of hitting my head but got my legs though when the concrete shattered into a thousand pieces.
I Missed this part of the highway really bad!! I had fun memories with u!!😰😰😰😊😊😍 RIP Old Crosstown expressway!!!!! 1960s-2012! You will be missed deepenly!
In the 50s we dragged Main in three ways: 1) from Fifth to Eleventh, around and around; 2) from Fifth or Eleventh to Eight or Ninth, then southwest to one of the restaurants, and back to Main or 3) out Oklahoma Avenue west to Snow's or the top of the hill and back to Main.
first rode it when it opened in the 60's on a double date. Then every day commute west to east, east to west. Beat my spine worse every year trying to make a living. You can hear the road noise in the video. The new crosstown is smoother but the planning and engineering are lacking. Living in Urban renewal.Yee-haw!
now THAT would be just too cool., does your group stay on regularly maintained track, or are there jaunts onto unused sections?, I've seen plenty of stretches. that looked way out of the way.
