I am so glad you did this, its important to let people now that ilm comes from traditional scholars. A person can study in the biggest university however if they don't know arabic and they don't follow similar pathways in studying what the scholars of the past did then ultimately that person isnt a scholar according to the islamic definition of Alim. Unfortunately relying on english translations or missing key fields of study doesnt make you an alim no matter how big your degree is. I am not talking about Jake, i dont know what he has studied, i am just mentioning this as a general thing. Alhamdulillah Sheikh al Asri is definitely from amongst rhe Ulema with his education pathway.

To put it very briefly, Ash’arīs do not deny the Wisdom of Allāh, but they say that wisdom, when in reference to humans, means to do what’s ultimately in their benefit. As for Allāh, this type of wisdom is not intended since Allāh cannot truly be benefitted or harmed by anything since He is perfect. So when Hikmah is ascribed to Allāh, it is different than what it means when applied to humans. Sometimes it is said that Allāh is without aghrād, which may be translated as objective or purpose, but this is misunderstood. Allāh definitely sets purposes for creation, but ultimately, since Allāh has no needs, it’s not like He has some personal motive for doing anything instead of something else. Whether He created this system of test in dunyā or created nothing, or whether He put us all in Jannah or Jahannam without a test, it makes Allāh no different. Of course, Allāh’s character is such that He will not do certain things like punish a person for no reason, but even if He did such or did not, it makes Him no different. He has nothing to do gain or lose by doing this or that. Allāh sets purposes for creation. As for Himself, He is the King and can do whatever He wills.
@ponderingspirit
@ponderingspirit День назад
But we should also consider that Allah is Rahman. This is his essence, i.e., character. Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “When Allah completed the creation, He wrote in His book with Him upon the Throne: Verily, My mercy prevails over My wrath.”
@thelastrainshower

Asharis do deny wisdom behind Allahs actions and intent, even if it they don’t say it straightforwardly. One indicator of this is their support of “divine command theory/theological voluntarism”. This would basically mean that if Allah said rape is okay then it is okay. That’s the definition of meaningless, since humans use morality through their instinct/intuition and not through legalistic reasoning. So there is no apparent Hikmah within Allahs forbidding of “vices”, since they are arbitrary vices. Also, I am not saying Asharis are wrong. Allah is wisdomless from a human perspective. Take for instance His statement in the Qur’an that He created mankind to worship Him. This verse indicates Allahs “intent” and yet the Quran and Sunnah also say that Allah created many of mankind for Hell and that in the loins of their fathers the destiny of the offspring is already allotted. So what is it? How do you create a human to worship you and also create him to go to Hell? Coz if he intended men to worship Him then he intended heaven for them, since worship would lead to Jannah. So Allahs intent is absolutely absurd and unknowable to a human being and you can call it wisdomless since wisdom is a human concept. You can say Allah has a divine incomprehensible wisdom but thats not better than wahhabis saying Allah has a literal but incomprehensible hand. If it doesnt look like a hand, is it a hand? If it has nothing in common with a human hand you might as well call it a cow or a stick: it’s meaningless. All of Allahs other commandments and prohibition also can’t said to be wise since Allah is the one who creates the circumstances in the first place. He is not merely looking down thinking “oh no, alcohol is not good for them lets forbid them”. No he made it like that and he actually wills all things including those who do drink alcohol against His commandment. So Allah has two wills, which makes zero sense to us and is properly called wisdomless. Plus, if Allah has no need then why create a reality with so much people going into eternal hellfire? He could have jjst created nothing and He would be perfectly fine. Wisdom can’t be found in this
@ponderingspirit
@ponderingspirit День назад
@@GaiusCotta-v8w what would be the solution?
@thelastrainshower
@thelastrainshower День назад
@@GaiusCotta-v8w 1) Indeed, divine command theory is correct because Allāh owns everything, therefore, it is His right to do anything. Human ownership is just figurative at best. So, if Allāh permitted or commanded rape, then it would become moral. However, this does not make morality arbitrary since Allāh acts in accordance to His character. This is why I mentioned in my original post that there are still something Allāh would not do. My only point is * if * Allāh did them, then He can do whatever He wills, and He would not be in the wrong for doing them. 2) Your point about Allāh creating people to worship Him but also about creating people for Hell is weak. You are conflating Allāhs legislative will and a universal will. His universal will is basically for what will and will not happen. His legislative will is basically His commands and prohibitions (law). He created people to worship Him. This is their purpose. Their purpose is NOT to go to Hell. They go to Hell for having failed to fulfill their purpose. So they have been created for Hell in the sense that Allāh has created them knowing that they will fail. And this would not make Him evil for doing this since Allāh owns everything, and therefore has the right to do anything. In fact, even if Allāh put innocent people in Hell, this still would not be wrong since He has the right to do this. However, it is not His character to do this. Also, you said if Allāh created people to worship Him, this necessitates people going to Jannah. No it doesnt. This is the legislative will. Allāh commands people to worship Him. It is possible that He could have willed (meaning the universal will) to create only people who will fail to worship Him. Its also possible that He could have created only people who will fulfill their purpose. However, He created a world where people fail and succeed. None of these scenarios is necessary. But there is an elephant in the room. What is the problem with Allāh being able to do anything He wants? How is this a denial of wisdom? What this is, really, is that you are conflating human wisdom (of gaining benefit) with Allāhs wisdom. Allāhs wisdom not mean He does something because He wants to gain something or avoid harm.

Allah is not bound by anything. The mu'tazilites used to say that Allah is obliged to do what's good for his creation. Ash'aris simply quoted the Qur'anic verses that say Allah does what he wills. Mufti Saif Al-Asri is a prominent Islamic scholar renowned for his dedication to Islamic education, refined character, and profound knowledge of the Shari'ah sciences. He was born in the city of Hajja, Yemen, before relocating to Saudi Arabia with his family at a young age due to his father's work. In Saudi Arabia, he began his early education, entering the kingdom at the age of four or five. Shaykh Saif completed his elementary studies there and started reading religious books under scholars by 12, showcasing an early commitment to seeking knowledge. Upon returning to Yemen, his family settled in the capital, Sana’a, where Shaykh Saif began his journey in structured Islamic learning. He pursued his intermediate (known as الإعدادية) and secondary education there, simultaneously embarking on formal Islamic studies under the mentorship of several Yemeni scholars. One of the most influential figures in his education was Shaykh Hasan Muhammad Maqbul Al-Ahdal, under whom Shaykh Saif studied the Arabic language, Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), fundamentals of jurisprudence (usul al-fiqh), and hadith sciences. During this period, he completed the memorization of the Qur’an, which he had begun in Saudi Arabia. Shaykh Saif furthered his education by enrolling at Al-Iman University in Sana’a, a prestigious institution focusing on Islamic studies. He was among the university's first students when it opened its doors in the early 1990s (1415 AH). During his time there, he studied under leading Islamic scholars, including the distinguished jurist and legal theorist Shaykh Abdul Karim Zaidan, who authored notable works such as *Al-Mufassal Fi Ahkam Al-Mar’a* and *Al-Wajiz Fi Usul Al-Fiqh*. Shaykh Saif studied several of Shaykh Zaidan’s books in Islamic jurisprudence, legal principles, and da'wah (Islamic propagation). In addition to Shaykh Zaidan, Shaykh Saif studied with other prominent scholars, such as the Yemeni mufti and judge Muhammad bin Isma’il Al-‘Amrani, the founder of Al-Iman University Shaykh Abdul Majid Al-Zindani, and Shaykh Dr. Abdul Wahhab Al-Daylami, a notable specialist in Qur’anic exegesis. This early foundational education enabled Shaykh Saif to comprehensively understand Shari'ah sciences. After obtaining his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in 2001, Shaykh Saif began his professional career in Islamic jurisprudence by joining the Islamic advisory team at the Qatar Fatwa Center under IslamWeb, a well-known Islamic network. He served as a mufti from 2001 to 2007, dealing directly with the public's written and oral inquiries, gaining valuable experience in providing Islamic guidance and advisory services. His work involved answering questions via calls, SMS messages, and emails, which enhanced his proficiency in contemporary Islamic issues. While in Qatar, Shaykh Saif continued his studies under scholars like the renowned scholar of Islamic theology and logic, Shaykh Mustafa Al-Binjawani, and the Iraqi scholar Shaykh As-Sadiq Al-Iraqi. Under their mentorship, he deepened his understanding of logic, rhetoric, and Islamic dialectics. In 2007, Shaykh Saif moved to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to work in the official Fatwa Center. Over the course of nearly a decade (2007-2016), he expanded his expertise in issuing fatwas, supervising junior muftis, and reviewing religious rulings. His long tenure in Qatar and the UAE fortified his experience in Islamic jurisprudence and broadened his knowledge of contemporary Muslims' diverse issues. Desiring to further his academic credentials, Shaykh Saif pursued a Ph.D. at Mohammed V University in Rabat, Morocco, under Dr. Farouq Hamada, a prominent Hadith scholar and academic figure. Dr. Hamada, originally from Homs, Syria, is well-regarded for his contributions to Islamic academia and his role in shaping the next generation of scholars. Shaykh Saif’s scholarly endeavors extended beyond academia and fatwas. He has authored several writings on Islamic jurisprudence, creed, and other areas of Shari’ah, making a valuable contribution to Islamic literature. His commitment to Islamic education and scholarly advancement has led him to travel and teach in various regions, including recent visits to Chechnya. Shaykh Saif's connection with Chechnya began with his participation in educational and religious conferences and has since grown into a long-term commitment to supporting Islamic education there. In Chechnya, Shaykh Saif has been actively involved in teaching students at Islamic universities and delivering classes on key Islamic texts, including Sharh al-Waraqat in the principles of jurisprudence (usul al-fiqh) and Sharh al-Aqeedah al-Tahawiyyah by Al-Imam Abdul-Ghani Al-Maydani. His classes attract students from the Islamic University in Grozny, and he holds study sessions after the noon prayer and on designated days each week. His approach emphasizes a balance between academic rigor and an emphasis on the ethical dimensions of Islamic teachings.
