Quick question! I get that we need to lower our arms under the shoulder plane, but Is there any limit for how low your arm can lower? can it go too low early in the swing?
This is fantastic! I do rotate a ton with my hips and still create an out to in path, leading to fades (ok) or nasty slices (when i get tired and not able to somehow come back from the difficult position i put myself in). My answer on slices: you need to rotate MORE. The result: left hip moving even more. So you think you donit right and in fact you make it worse (and it feels sooo unfair haha). Thanks for all your biomechanic explanations. They visualize so well what is needed to do! Great job!
Best Golf Video Lesson Ever - and I am in 60s and have seen many thousands. I was told by a couple of golf coaches that my early extension was due to the downswing, when the truth is it was the backswing all along. Thank you very very much.
Good video. Rotation is over rated anyway, both on the backswing and the follow through. It's a mix of tilt, turn and shift so you can pressure the back of the ball. Most tour pros move too much.
Does fixing the pulls like you have shown improve the release as well? Long time pull hooker where I don't ever feel I can release the club properly. Looks a lot like Jeff's follow through in his original video. Hit balls today with the thought of lowering my arms as shown and not only did I hit it better, but I felt like I was releasing the club more properly instead of kind of holding on to it.
Great Video Mike! Well presented! Lot's of hard work went into this! I have a question: I was fooling around and swinging a 7 iron left handed, working on my release Swinging left hand only, I had no problems with sweeping the turf taking a divot. I then placed my right hand on the club and was swing (I thought) basically the same. All the sudden I was having trouble sweeping the turf. I took my right hand and moved it UP my grip. My right pinky finger was next to my left ring finger (think Jim Furyk grip). I went back to sweeping the turf. I'm wondering: DO I HAVE A SIDE BEND ISSUE or could I have an anatomical issue that might cause this? Is this weird or have you seen this with your students? THANKS!
Can you do the video about how the arm and the body work. I have a swing like Fred couple where I start my arm first but the body isn’t coming with it and my arm is too far across my body. thank you!
Surely you need to ask yourself, what’s the distance to the front trap? What’s the distance to the back of the green? Where’s the miss? Where do I actually want the ball to finish? What’s the wind speed and direction? Is it cold? Distance off a tee vs fairway/rough also makes a difference as does rain! So many variables 😂😂😂
@@AthleticMotionGolf Sorry meant the purple line (Pelvic Center). For me this made a BIG difference. Also can play around balancing the handpath from the top with the pelvic center vector (1030/11000 Thanks again for your wonderful analysis.
This is the most meaningful (for me) video that I’ve seen from you guys, or from anyone. congratulations and thank you! John Doss (AKA FORMER BIRD DOG)
when i try to implement that movement of the trail knee, like when you pushed his knee forward at the top of his swing, it makes my hips spin out too quick and leaves no room for my arms, trying to work on lowering the arms properly while also adding trail knee flex, just curious if this is a common issue you see
@@jmag-kq9nl a couple thoughts for clarity 🙂… 1. No one can implement a new movement without first repping it to the point it happens. 2. 5-8 degrees of knee bend will not cause the hip to spin out. BUT trying to do/feel something new/different at full speed could. See point #1 😉 3. If the upper arm isn’t re-connecting/lowering, you’ll be penalized for moving the lower body better. That’s why we detailed the sequence of Jeff’s issues. 4. Yes, trying to add rotation to a swing with out-of-position arms/club is one of the most common issues we see.
How does work in conjunction with lower your right arm at the start of your downswing? (Which is mentioned in some of the other videos). Does lowering the arm, lower the hands properly? (Or vice-versa?) Thx
Mike said "No Drills, just go at a pace where you can make that happen". Obviously, us peasants don't have a GEARS system at home so we can't measure it but you can video yourself and check it that way.
How much do you charge? This amazing stuff! This is what Padraig Harrington calls starting the downswing early. Hard to believe but it done properly you will hit the best shots of your life!
The only way I can get this position and forward shaft lean at impact look it to swing the club like I a whipping motion. Is this motion the key to every golf swing and is that what the pros are doing and feeling. I struggle with the finish and it only works when I finish the swing at parallel.
Quick question! Let’s say I want to hit my ball lower I just get my ball more backwards of the stance and let my hand stays mid body or should I create more shaft lean at address because every time I do it the ball goes so far to the right. Both with driver and iron. Thank you!
I would like to see grip pressure points , I suspect that pros are making a move on their hands and wrists which magnifies the distance moved by the arms and is not captured by your videos.
Uncle Mike the last video I watched was starved of "exactlies". This video seems glutinous in comparison. Perhaps a Go Fund could be ceeated to compensate your editor to balance the equation. Excellent content as always.
I am really interested in your videos but with all the info it's like drinking from a fire hose. I am recovering from a rotator cuff issue and consequently i have stopped coming through on my shot and hitting off the back foot. Is a progressive sequence of events i should be working on to help me through to a successful golf swing.
Spent about six months ruining my golf came trying to fix crossing the line, and I finally got a lesson and the coach said I was on the arc, just that I had a lot of rotation, felt like such an idiot
The low tech version of this is Anthony Raviellis drawings in Hogan's Five fundamentals. If you pull straight down and simultaneously rotate (which will move your hands towards the target line.) You'll stay under the pane of glass.
@@zimkitch we just did schools in the Oxford area in July at the JD Golf Academy who does teach with gears. www.jdgolfacademy.co.uk/tuition-prices-and-booking
This also describes me perfectly. I always had trouble understanding why whenever I rotated more would lead to more misses left. Been working on shallowing the club by extending right arm in transition. Hitting blocks now with some starting to come back left so maybe can start turning more now. But I still don’t understand why I sometimes would hit true draws with this pattern.
