Ooooohhh snap!!!! Maaan not gonna lie! That action 2 still looks sooooo good! And sounds good! Funny I like the face and skin tones on the action 2 but the action 5 has a lot better dynamic range.
SKY😀So nice to hear from you again, it's been a while😢. Action 2 surprises positively, I like the small modular design and it still delivers good image quality. You can clearly see that the dynamic range is better on the A5, now I just hope Dji updates the A5. It needs it.
Are you certain the one on the left is the A5? Most of the videos on RU-vid show it looking different, with the Action 5 appearing brighter compared to its competitors.
The action 2's main consumer base are fpv drone pilots, its small and lightweight, perfect for drones. For such a small package it really does have excellent image quality and features for such a compact design
I got the A2, A3 and A4 The A2 is actually really unique camera because of the size, weight, really good built in mic and the purposes it can be used for. Has also really good and natural "Normal" picture profile so actually A2 was a really good product overall. DJI went with wider FOV (on the expense of a bit more distortion) with the A2 but that makes it unique for first person view type of footage (biking, skiing, snowboarding, kayaking and etc) The A3 is the most useless purchase ever as it overheats fairly fast and the image quality is barely on par with the A2 (because of all those focusing issues) and low light performance is the same. When the A4 came out, the A3 became completely redundant. Now the A4 has a much better image quality overall, better low light performance and overheats less so the A4 would be finally a complete and proper new product. ( I regret buying the A3 so much :D ) The A5 is even better in terms of reliability (amazing battery life and essentially no overheating) but I think DJI have destroyed their Normal picture profile on the A5 (the A2 is much better). Looks like a very overprocessed phone image with that fake HDR look. D log M and the dynamic range on the A5 should be probably a bit better than the A4 but maybe the differences would be almost unnoticeable.
Because DJI assigned staff member said we will release an Update Mid October priority bitrate or competition Ace pro 2 more or less its marketing, cameras forced to release premature due to compitition
They better get on it because they will get smoked by Insta otherwise. Action 5 has multiple large scale issues that are unacceptable for a supposed pro next gen camera. Bitrate is obviously one of them, it's hilariously low for fast moving complex scenes which an action camera should excel at. Don't know what they were thinking in that regard. Next is the normal colour profile having extreme issues with HDR processing, having weird highlights around certain objects, especially trees. Washed out image, loss of detail in the sky and ground. And then you have the super night mode which is virtually unusable, horrible artifacting and over processed look that make faces look like plastic/wax figures, over sharpened unnatural look... The normal colour profile does ok in low light, but insta's pure video mode is still better which is worrying because it's a previous gen camera. The ace pro 2 is said to have even more improvements in low light, I don't see the action 5 being on par with Insta in low light even with firmware updates. Disappointing launch by DJI, nothing else to say

If we start talking about old cameras, then a comparison with the much older Sony x3000 camera would be more interesting. Especially considering that this camera has so far stabilized video in poor conditions better than others. Moreover, it has a built-in GPS, an external remote control with a screen, and the ability to connect a cheap wired microphone without an additional adapter. It’s a pity that over time they all develop defocusing due to overheating of the lens unit. Аnd you can compare, for example, two old ones and one new one. Same dji 2 or some modular insta cameras
I like the action 5, but I do agree it's a little dark. But again this was full auto only wb was set. But it should adjust better. Thanks for watching 😀
To be honest..In the Forrest, Action 2 is better in my opinion.Is still sharp enaugh and brighter.Dynamic Range is lacking of course but overall more usable in that dark Forrest scenario.
The action 2 is excellent, and I was suprised that the action 5 was so dark. Yes it has better details. This was full auto only wb was set. Thanks for watching 😀
I bought Osmo 5 2 days ago, can return/replace till 09/10/2024. So what would you suggest? Like I prefer the content quality rather then the video quality. Video quality is good, but if content goes boom, then, IYKYK xD.
@@EspenJohan thanks, was thinking same. They tried to do something good, but everyone started hating it. Action cam can't perform like dslr, they must know that.
If you guys are worried about skin tones, yall have to go full manual mode on the color temperature. The A5P seems to always lean towards a blue color. I found i had to go into manual mode on the color temp and match it to what my eyes could see. AcePro does the best with the natural color temps but makes mofos look pink. Just adjust the color tempwrature.
On the action 5, what were the settings on shutter speed? Impressive there are no jitters. PS: You can dial down the texture and exposure and NR in supernight manually and it’ll be close to ace pro in terms of not being so sharp and artifacted.
i belive in extreme dark conditions osmo action 5 exposes the scene better and brighter but also make it look unnatural. insta 360 keeps it little real not very huge difference but true to life colors maybe.....but colors cab be tweaked. however i feel insta 360 is more Sharper in some area and osmo ac 5 in some. but i made my mind osmo action 5 pro is the way to go. battery life is crazy good. i have one question though. i plan to record normal vlogs with it and some motovlogging. should i get standard combo or adventure combo. the price difference is huge for me in india. please give some insights. i don't usually shoot more than two hours a day but you never know. will buying a new battery in future make sense or getting the adventure combo right now as we also have fast charging.
Dji Action 5 is the best overall camera, and they will fix it with firmaware. If you can afford the adventure combo do that. But the battery life is like you say crazy good.
I have both (and I like them both) but the Ace Pro has two issues that make me not want to use it as much: 1) The DJI Mimo App lets me control the camera remotely in LANDSCAPE MODE, which you can't do with the Insta 360 App, which is a shame because it would be such an easy firmware fix; and 2) the lack of integration with a wireless mic system without buying an extra adapter which then makes the camera less waterproof (it just doesn't sound good with the DJI Mic 2 connected via bluetooth) and more cumbersome.
Hi, I agree with you. Both are excellent cameras and do the job. But its just easier with dji camera. I dont use Ace pro often, I just trust dji cameras more. Thanks for watching 😀
As I said, it's clearly a good camera for vlogging while running. Above 30 km/h, however, it gets difficult and the Action 5 looks pretty bad. I have 2 videos on my channel, one with the Hero13 and one with the Action5, unedited. Here you can see very clearly that the Action5 is not an action camera, just a normal small camera.
After what I've seen here I think I'll buy a GoPro 13. The image from the DJI is some kind of misunderstanding. These are sports cameras for sports, not for vlogging. Shooting sports scenes at night is a joke. Thank you for this video, it helped me decide.
Great side by side. I’m a fellow reviewer of the action 5 pro and have been I underwhelmed in some aspects, and impressed in others. My used case is running in low light, so very relevant video for me 1) the Ace pro WB is awful compared the the 5 pro. The ace pro looked like the tint was way off but the 5 is great. 2) when the light go very low the ace pro stabilisation was slightly better. 3) image was better for the most part on the Action 5, but I expect the Ace Pro 2 will push the 5 much harder. 4) both look over sharpened but not too terrible in your video. Great job. I will be taking out the Action 4 and 5 pro side by side on my early run tomorrow and will post results in the next week or so 👍

@@Runningonthemind I have some plans for ultra run next year. I usually run on trails and not asphal. Now the plan is to get many kilometers and train for a long run. I need to lose 10 kilos too
@@EspenJohan good for you mate. I run 10k and half marathon races mainly. I’m running every day at the moment and will hit 200 days on my Runstreak tomorrow, average of 8k per day over that time. 👍

Great video, I'm a big Ace Pro fan with PureVideo but I will admit that DJI A5 did a phenomenal job with their low light improvements. Side by side, I think they are both equal as some areas the DJI did better and other areas the Ace Pro did better. Although some areas the DJI looks good, imo, I find they over sharpened/over exposed, I think toning that down a notch or two it would look much better and not 'fakish'. One thing though, I don't know what they did with the A5 but I'm a sky/clouds guy, A5's sky/clouds looks horrid even in daytime and even compared to the A4. I'm hoping this is due to the low bitrate which they said they will address in the next fw update. Will be interesting to see A5 SuperNight mode go against Ace Pro 2's generation 2 PureVideo.

mmmm, I don't think so, according to the "leaks" it doesn't seem like it's going to change too much either. If Insta 360 doesn't apply 10-bit color depth and doesn't abandon its artificial style, I doubt it will surpass DJI, which will surely update the A5's firmware quickly. I also think we're asking too much of cameras that were definitely not created for professional use, no matter how PRO their manufacturers tell us they are.
@@osomax We will see very soon.This week. Its not about pro stuff. Its about video quality that can compete to full dslr cam or camcorders. At this moment despite 4k the image quality of all action cams has still kind of digital look compered to camcorders where you can get nice cinematic and soft footage. If you know what I mean. And every one wants nice soft-cinematic video quality in a small action cam. its not there yet but everybody waits for it :)
@@lzkedcke8358 Action cameras are designed for action. So if you need a soft-cinematic video you'd probably go with the DJI Pocket 3, which has a bigger sensor, a gimbal and is better in low light without that "digital look".
will see, for me is ace pro unusable. Their fov angle is not good for mtb, is little bit smaller than gopro superview but i hope in ace pro 2 increase the action view angle.
AP2 is not coming out tomorrow lol For a couple of reasons, it's a holiday in China right now and Insta360 by trend will give us teasers usually 3-4 days before it launches, there has been nothing especially for their biggest launch this year ;)
the Ace Pro is just killed by the lack of close focus any time it is used for vlogging. as for the low light the action 5 actually did better in the early stages of low light but then starts to fall apart with oversharperning and noise as it slowly gets darker. being honest? ace pro isn't great either, but it does a better job of both making the scene look like the ambient light really was and covering up the distracting noise with strong denoising in camera. I'm curious if what appears to be some lens and field of view changes rumored for the ace pro 2 have to do with eliminating the problem with close focus...
action 5 is less noisy in normal mode, super night on action 5 is horrible for anything but pitch black footage, other than that stick to normal mode, its too processed and unnatural
Action 5 looks way better than Ace Pro in normal mode I agree 👍. Supernight mode looks good when the conditions are semi dark. But my opinion is that low light on any action camera is a gimmick. They made it just because of demand for it. I still think action 5 is a better camera than ace pro
Honestly I think the best combo is an action cam like the Ace Pro/Action 5 Pro/Gro Pro 13 for action type footage in good light.. as they are all rugged and can take some "abuse"... and then when in low light... use the Pocket 3 as it excels in that environment without the artifacts/jitter that action cams have in low light. It's of course more expensive/fiddly to have 2 cameras... but that covers you for pretty much every situation and you have something for inclement weather and rugged situations and also something for when you want to get the best image quality in less "action" oriented scenes. That Action cam + Pocket 3 combo should cover pretty much every situation and other than zoom type shots... should be enough for 99% of video needs. I guess for zoom shots a smart phone could be a 3rd option since most people have a smart phone with them anyway most of the time.

Yeah I agree 👍, I think its important to see these cameras as action cameras and not pro cameras. Still I think its impressive to see how long they come with such small cameras.
