Makes me wonder where the switch gear is made. And why no one is picking up the slack and making a fortune. Has the know how and manufacturing equipment gone overseas?
@@andrefagerlid5352 China and India. They passed laws a few years ago that they must reserve a certain amount of stock for domestic infrastructure before export, because they have long wait times as well but not as long as we do now. At one point even 4 square boxes were $8 if the supply house had any.
My foreman told me in Dallas texas next to ford center there was a huge wait time 1 year easy and have to pay $50-$100k for it to get moved up to the front of line and still a small wait
9 months is pretty good for switchgear actually. I currently work for a place that does it and anything that's 2000 up is basically a year. 4000 amps is pushing two in some cases depending on the options you want. Panelboards are being pushed out, they were at sub-30 days but are now around 50. Utility transformers, like oil-filled ones, are looking at 25-30 months.
Quit Voting the way you do and get rid of those in power right now. The arbitrary rules CA state Legislators make up about transformers and others are just crazy!
Hey man love your content. Curious… what was your best lead getting website or company? Have you tried Home Depot pro referral? Angie’s list? Etc Looking to get to the next stage.
Did you only get your certificate in LA trade Tech? Or did you also get your associates degree, do companies hire you as an electrical contractor even more if you have your associates degree ?
@drake.junior28 Degrees are always a plus but in the trades may not be as important as in the corporate world. Yes LATTC you can get your AS along with you Degree in EC&M which is the route I took but did college at another school including Bible College.
I'm not putting down Jeff's accomplishments or anybody else who went to a trade school. But you also have a option of taking classes at any California state approved Community College for electrical. and you can get your ET number with the state. and be eligible to take your journeyman's test. the state will hold your card until you prove you have completed 8000 hours. that was the route I took Community College was far less expensive. I could work full time during the day and take night class. best of luck you you my friend.
@@jonathanhughes380 That was my journey, and you are 100% just as valid. At the end of the day it's what you know not how you got to know it. TAKE CODE CLASSES! Don't fast track it, it will take a MINIMUM of 4 years to really know the trade in various fields. Don't argue with I can do it less time. There are people out there that want to tell you that, why, because they did it but they wouldn't even be a journeyman in any of my states. Don't get it twisted, my way is not the only way and even a 3 year apprentice can be "good enough" at residential but Good luck making it out here in Cali, you will get eaten alive! Well I guess you would be a handyman (nothing wrong with that either)
@@The360Electrician I would argue that you would need to know a little bit of every trade to be a good Electrician. I am just an electrical Apprentice. with the state of CA. T76807
Question, so the panel is the smart device that can tell you how much power each breaker is pulling? Or the breaker itself has to be the smart one? I just want to know the data how much energy each breaker is consuming.
She had it 20 times better than my poor apprentice , who spent most of the yesterday in the old house's 100-degree heated attic with blown-in insulatuon, crawling on his stomach stapling the cables. Not everyone can do it without melting down.
I only use Wiha insulated hand tools. Not a big fan of there strippers but still searching. Currently dont have an insulated stripper, the only non insulated in the bag. Dont know what it is but klein just doesnt compare to sharpness in cutting with tools and comfort on the hand.
I just learned a lot from you. I'm just starting to do side work on my own. I don't get many phone calls yet so It's not a problem at the moment. I am good at estimating the time it will take me to complete the job. I am going to start fixed pricing as soon as I get things going. I'm not going to do Angies list . I saw the problems my old boss had with them.
@EladShabtai-n4h Yes adding anything "smart" would be additional but just having a white panel with the option to upgrade to smart is worth the additional $ to $100 initial investment over a off the shelves panel in my opinion.
Howdy man, I’m an 18yr old who recently graduated highschool who’s deciding to go into the trades over college. Would you personally say being an electrician is worth it? It’s the trade I’m currently thinking about going to school for and I’d like to hear your opinion on if it’s a trade worth entering or not. Thank you so much for your time!
@splotchycrib997 In my opinion it's the best of the trades. Without power nothing runs. That said it's a marathon not a race. Better be good at it train and learn eventually the money will be insane and the freedom to be an electric I an anywhere and no one can take it from you is a big plus as well.
