Thank you Lexi for the reminders of what it takes for a women to make it in the trades. I'm a low voltage apprentice. I want to push myself to do inside. You are an inspiration.
I’m not an electrician, but ILexi has been a huge inspiration both with her skills and showing that women can do the job just as well. Carry on, pretty woman!
I’m in the trades and for anyone looking to get into a trade, a electrician is a great one. A huge benefit is your body won’t be broken after 20-30 years in the field.
I respectfully disagree. I have retired after 35 years in the trade, and I have knee, elbow, and wrist issues. I have arthritis in both hands due to the inherent twisting action that is common in our trade. True, there are other trades that, over time, are more destructive to the body than electrical. Maybe that's what you were inferring?
@@gregorall9779 Yeah I just meant out of the trades that a electrician is one of the one’s easier on the body. Look at most masons after 30 years. I do ceramic, marble and granite. Kitchens and baths.
My mom and I run a septic business in Virginia. She does soil studies and permit designs, and I handle maintenance, repairs, and inspections. We don't install, that's a little more overhead than we're trying to take on right now for equipment. Maintenance and designs are usually fairly low impact, but when it's not, it's REALLY not. Something like replacing peat in a puraflo or ecoflo is one of the most difficult things I've ever done. All in all, I can still usually work even with a fairly serious neck injury from where I got hit by a car trying to pick up the emergency triangles behind my septic pump truck a few years ago
Over lockdown I started watching a bunch of really fascinating random trades videos. Tree-felling, lathe operators, Bobsdecline and Lexi too! GREAT content by real deal people. I have learned so much and have mad respect for anyone sharing their passion on YT. Go Lexi ! PS - I work in a super male trade and worked closely with thousands of different (male) colleagues for 40+ years and worked with less than a handful of women. Dumb as it sounds we didn't even have PPE that fit them half the time. It's changing now but hats off to the trailblazers.
I've been lucky in that I've worked with highly competent women in my field. I've worked my way up to supervisory roles and have enough experience to look at what Lexi does and know she is real. That she is gorgeous doesn't cloud that; believe me when I say I have seen all combinations of looks and abilities. And Lexi if you read this, I get it about wanting to deal with the big wires, I had an opportunity to move to megawatt+ power systems and it's been awesome the whole trip.

I LOVE seeing this!!! I've wanted to be a sparky since 2005 and though I am older - still hold onto the dream of becoming an electrician. Lexi you are inspiring me!! 🙂
difference between lexi and many other woman's trying out electricians is lexi has 3 fam generation to show lexi what the instruction means other woman don't have that family tradition to look up too. so I think will be some what hard or harder to learn.. I wish all the best to all woman do well in trade.
I feel like I learned more about you than the guest maybe a little more less talking and letting the guest talk that would be great but nonetheless thank you for having her big fan of her ❤️
The biggest issue I have with women in the trades, at least nowadays, is a lot of them can't handle it. They don't like the attitudes of the men, they don't like to get dirty, they don't want to learn. Lexi proves that you can be beautiful and still be a kick ass in your trade. I would love to see more women seriously consider the trades, but they need to understand what it means to be in what is a male dominated field. Lexi seems like she's the real deal. I subscribe to her channel and I hope her career keeps going up.
I am so happy to see a STRONG young female that is not short of words and as strong in her ways A Lexi is . POSITIVE emotionally strong and very positive . Family is strong with her and needs to prove nothing ! Great person in the electrical field .
Thanks, read the show notes, it was her first Pod so I did most of the talking. Next podcast will be all her trust me, this girl rocks! Make sure u sub to her TikTok to get her to 1 million! Thanks for the support.
Lexi is a hero of the trades and paving the way for prosperity for men and woman! She is someone that didn’t complain and got on learning a skill and applying herself to life! Keep it up Lexi! Also, successful people do what others don’t want to.
I'm a huge fan of Lexi! In fact, i wasn't aware of your channel until i saw this video. Now I'm a fan of you too! My mom and i run an onsite septic business in Virginia and while we aren't electricians, we do usually do our own wiring within our system. We do need electricians to connect power to our control panels, I'm not allowed to do that under our regulations. The electrical side of my job is honestly where *most* of our maintenance issues arise, so I've found electrician content to be incredibly helpful for my work. My first maintenance client when we started this business had an aerator that burned up. Found tons of burnt wiring in the house and i had no idea how to address that, or whether the aerator caused the failure or bad wiring in the house. I could only advise to call an electrician. Granted, i am not licensed to work on anything that isn't the septic system, it was a little embarrassing that i didn't have a good answer for this client. Watching yall has helped me be more prepared for the next weird one.
By the way guys the code requires all new electrical outlets per 210.12 to have arc fault breaker protection meaning lightning outlets also not just receptacle ok
Most people like commercial work more money guys and the work is usually all specs the plans tell you what size wire to run for loads single or 3 phase work etc
I think her advice can apply to anyone from her generation. There are a lot of kids today that think they need to go to college. The trades pay well and if you work hard like she does you’ll always have a job.
I'd hire Lexi over most of the guys, not because she's beautiful but because I love her work and her detail and being meticulous in what she does. The electrician who installed my breaker box on my house must've been drunk the day it was installed because it looks like a bird's nest in there.
I’m in upstate ny ; I’m still confused on what it takes to get a license or certificate . Ive been non union for 5 years, can I just take the test or like you mentioned do I need insurance before I take the test , do I need to have been in a union apprenticeship?
Sir how do you fit in so many sentences without taking a breath? I’m low key trying to breathe for you. 😂 jokes aside. Awesome video. And good advice about having grit. 4th year inside apprentice from San Diego.
Looking Now A-T my Dewalt tools and I feel ashamed!!!Only thing I don’t appreciate at Milwaukee is that the whole company became too cocky and pricey for my taste!!!But I definitely endorse Klein because although they are good tools, they haven’t jacked up their prices!!Thats my 2 cents!
I'm pretty sure it was more the other way around. Klein dropped home depot as their retailer. Home depot was costing them millions because people were returning bad/abused products and forcing klein to replace them.
If yall are out here in Virginia, I need electricians I can call for stuff like running power to control panels from the house. I'm licensed for septic, not electric, so I'm not supposed to run wires from the house to the panel. I can only work from the panel to the system with my license as it stands.
Hey Jeff I told lexi that I would work for free just to get the rust off of my skills. I need three more years in the military ti retire and I want to start my own little business but I need to get the rust iff
If you are going to be the woman in the trade you just need to have alligator skin let what ever the guy’s say to you roll off your back like a duck lol
Guy’s I hire both man and woman to do electrical work, woman can do the same thing a man can do ,the only difference is man have more muscle mass to left heavier weight ,but woman have the same brain power as man
@@The360Electrician yep always got to be ONE. ONE FEMALE saying look at me i'm just as good as a MAN ha ha ha ok if that's what makes them feel like a WOMAN then ok but if your a strong independent woman that don't need no MAN then why are they always trying to prove they can do what a MAN can DO
A name and a title on a piece of paper means nothing. I have seen master electrician I would not want to wire a simple light circuit for me. A license means nothing.
I need a advice please: I’m 36 years old, it’s a good idea to start trade electrician with the union or I’m too old for it and better I will be realistic and do something different to make a living ? Please guys answer my question , thank you !
Waw guys that’s make me feel normal, I appreciate you all for motivating me, I just pass the NJTCA exam and on my way to pass the aptitude test , soon Thank you again !!
State license. I've been told by my teachers that carried licenses in other states that iowa has the toughest standards and test. So....an iowa journeyman can get a license in another state very easily, but other state licenses are not valid here. I get the money game of that statement too. Idk how other tests are in other states but our test is rough. 88 questions, 2 1/2 hour time limit, on a computer (I'm 43 so test taking in that manner is very odd to me), and you're armed with your code book, a pencil, piece of scratch paper, and a calculator. You have to get a 70% to pass. I've gotten 69 twice.
